Logan finds an unexpected (and rather cheerful) visitor at the front door of the school.

Crystal rang the doorbell and took a step away from the door. Once she'd been away from Attilan, in Ireland for Terry's wedding, there really hadn't been much of a reason to go directly back to Attilan. A vacation was a vacation after all, and it was easier to just continue on with that vacation instead of returning to duties and papers and hardly ever leaving the palace. The decision had been a spur-of-the-moment one even if she had made it days ago, and she thought a surprise visit might be better than an announced one. In addition, Crystal hadn't wanted anyone to make a big deal out of her return to New York. So here she was, completely unexpected, and rather than announcing herself she was just ringing the doorbell, waiting for someone to answer, and she'd say hello and smile and walk into the building she'd never thought she'd see again,

Logan just happened to be heading for the door on his way to go work on his bike in the sunshine. In true working-on-his-bike fashion he wasn't wearing much and was carrying his brand-new full toolkit. Got tired of stealing Scott's so he'd decided to replace the one that went boom a few years back. He opened the door and then looked at the tastefully-attired girl on their front doorstep. He didn't say a word, he just looked at her.

"Hello, Logan." Crystal greeted him cheerfully and with a smile, just as she had planned on greeting whoever ended up opening the door for her.

Logan snorted in amusement. "Shouldn't you be somewhere on the other side of the Atlantic?" he asked with amusement around the stub of a cigar in his mouth.

"Shouldn't you be somewhere on the other side of the mansion while you smoke?" Crystal replied pleasantly.

"Chuck doesn't care." he replied, still not moving out of her way. "So what brings you back this way?" he asked, leaning against the doorframe.

Crystal raised an eyebrow, still smiling. "Of course he doesn't. I am here for a visit, and I cannot even begin to tell you how overjoyed I am to see you. How have you been these past few months? Have you enjoyed your summer? Saved the world lately?"

Logan had to fight to keep from rolling his eyes. Given the lack of tasers, gas, rabid dogs, and/or earsplitting alarms, he was forced to conclude that this girl was still on the Approved Visitors list. He stepped back and to one side to let her in. Sooner she got out of his way sooner he could go work on his bike a little, enjoy the sunshine.

"What, no answer?" Crystal feigned a look of astonishment as she stepped inside. "If I did not know any better, I might think that you were not pleased to see me."

"Have I ever been?" he retorted, and then picked up his tools to move past the girl and get on with what he wanted to be doing with his day.

"Sometimes people change," Crystal said as he walked by. "I will be sure to keep in mind the fact that you have not."

"Not real likely to, either." he muttered as he headed outside. Just what he wanted to see - Princess Buttercup and the stick up her ass.

"Have a wonderful day!" Crystal called after him, quite cheerful. Oh well. You couldn't blame a girl for trying to be nice, could you? A gust of wind closed the door behind her, and Crystal headed down the hall, smiling to herself.

Laurie is excited to see Crystal but is taken aback upon the discovery that Crystal is only there for a visit.

Laurie had to blink a couple of times when she saw Crystal walking down the hall toward her, she hadn't even been told she was coming back today. It took a matter of seconds for her to yell Crystal's name and launch herself at the girl, stopping a few centimetres from her as she remembered that the other girl wasn't much into the exuberant hugging.

Instead, she grinned widely and bounced excitedly on her toes. "You're back!"

Crystal smothered a laugh as she watched Laurie bounce up and down. "I am here for a visit. I am not sure how long I will be staying." Yes, this was Laurie. A bit more bouncy than Crystal remembered her, but she looked the same. Remember, only two months have passed for her.

"You're not staying?" Laurie responded, stopping midbounce at the news and seeming somewhat deflated. "Although, I guess you had already moved back to Attilan, so you wouldn't. Um, have you seen the others yet?"

"Laurie," Crystal said, doing her best to sound gentle but not patronizing, "I graduated from Xavier's. I am not a student here anymore; there is not a reason for me to stay for more than a visit, is there?" Crystal was glad that she had graduated from the school, even if she hadn't attended the graduation ceremony itself. She hoped that would make it easier for people to adjust to her age difference; yes, she'd been sixteen when she left, but she had been a high school graduate. No one should have expected her to come back to stay. Laurie's enthusiasm and sudden lack of it made her wonder if other people might think she was back to stay when they saw her. "I just arrived, and Logan does not strike me as the type to run around the mansion telling people that I am here." She smiled at Laurie. "That honor is reserved for you, if you wish."

"Give me...about ten minutes and then come up to the suite?" Laurie replied, blushing slightly. She had a tendency to assume that because she loved the mansion, and wanted to stay on after graduation that everyone must. However, just because Crystal wasn't going to stay, didn't mean that she'd get out of a welcome back surprise. Laurie just had to get the other girls.

"I will see you again in ten minutes, then," Crystal replied, still smiling. It hadn't been so long that she'd forgotten how the school worked. In less than those ten minutes, with Laurie going off to do whatever it was she was about to do, and with other students and staff members bound to see her before then, it was quite possible that the entire school would know she was there.

"Fantastic!" Laurie replied, dashing off down the hall in search of her suitemates. There were plans to be made, and people to be informed that Crystal had returned.
