As mentioned, Garrison and Logan head down to Harry's to help Marie deal with her news, and take time to catch up on events over her comatose form.

"And this is why I love her. Drooling, snoring, reeking of booze..." Garrison said wryly, looking at where Marie sat, facedown on the table, out cold. He and Logan had gotten there fairly soon after her message, only to find her half a bottle of bourbon down and gunning shots like a sailor on his first night of shore leave. Not surprisingly, an increasingly incoherent couple of hours of rambling talk later, her eyes rolled up into the back of her head, and she had slowly passed out in the booth. Harry had come by and given them a look, but simply cleared some of the glasses away. Kane sighed, nudging her head up far enough to slip his wadded up coat between her and the table, before he picked up his beer.

"So, how does it feel to have nearly killed Marie's... uh, dad?"

Logan shrugged and slid into the booth on the opposite side from Garrison and Marie. "Would have liked to have ended it when I had the chance. Spare the kid the hangover she's gonna have tomorrow." Unrepentantly he snagged her bottle of bourbon and took a deep swallow from it.

"There is something seriously wrong with this school. I'm almost missing Afghanistan." He put a hand on Marie's side for a moment. "Poor girl. Everything that's happened to her, and now she's got this to deal with. Life is not fucking fair, man."

"Fucking tell me about it." he said, then took another deep drink of bourbon. "Life's just one fucking thing after another. And you went to Afghanistan and didn't ask me along. If I had feelings, they'd be hurt." he said with a grin.

"Canadian business, and Heather is already pissed at me. If I took you, she's already be down here removing my eyeballs with a spork." Kane took another sip and leaned back, as if his girlfriend wasn't passed out face down on the table. "Took some of the people rattling around the mansion. Turned out pretty well. Did you know Sooraya found her mother in the camp?"

"No shit? Looks like it's the week for family around here." he said with only a hint of grumpy. "Reminds me - Judd's making noises about crossing the border." he noted with amusement. "Must be getting tired of the height requirements at Canada's Wonderland."

"Oh great. More ways to get arrested." Kane sighed. "He coming alone or is he bringing the whole crew down? That could seriously scar some of the people at the mansion."

"Last I heard it was just him. Apparently Walt's busy being a giant nerd, Roger's aiding and abetting Walt, and Twoyoungmen's on the outs with his kid again." he mused. "And ya know, some of these folks could use a little scarring." he said. "Too damned nice."

"Yeah, but what can you do? Besides, the big happy family thing seems to work for them all. Save for the odd supervillian parent hiding in the background. I wonder how Marie's going to deal with this? She had some issues with her adopted parents before, and now the naked blue plaything of the Brotherhood?" It was just so odd, almost like a big cosmic joke. "Shit, that makes her, what, Amanda and Kurt's half-sister?"

"I don't even want to think about it. And, apparently, neither does she." he said, briefly poking the highly unconscious Marie. "Mebbe we need one of those clubs - but this one's for people who aren't related to fucking anybody." he grumbled.

"At least a comms channel on the journals or something. X_notrelatedtoyou or something." Garrison paused. "Hey, have you had a chance to meet that new kid? Noriko?"

"Yeah, I stopped down to check her out. She'll all right - or, she will be once she dries out. She's got spirit." he said with a grin. "Somethin' about her, though. And no, it ain't that. Can't explain it, but it's like there's something familiar. But then again, I get like that a lot."

"Tell me this is just faulty memories and not you trying to hint that you've got a thing for her, eh?" Kane ducked the handful of nuts tossed at him. "Just kidding! Kidding!" He held up his hands in surrender.

"I should go down, and say hello. Not a lot of Japanese speakers, and the dislocation issues must be setting in by now. Besides, I'm a friendly face, right?"

Logan made a face. "I don't think so." he said, adding to his earlier peanut barrage. "I like 'em feisty, yeah, but I try to draw the line at taking advantage of kids in recovery." he pointed out. "And yer a somethin' face, bub." he said with amusement. "Figure bein' a cop's a much bigger minus for her than being a hakujin.
she can talk to."

"Never hurts to try. After all, it can be hard enough adjusting to this place without language issues."

Logan had to agree with that sentiment. "So what about Drunken Beauty here?" he said, poking Marie on the top of her head again. "Think she'll pull through this OK?"

"Yeah. Marie's steel to the core, Logan. She'll be upset, she'll hurt, but she'll make it, no matter what." Garrison finished his beer and started to gather her up. "However, I should be getting her home. Because in about an hour, she's going to start yakking all that booze up, and basically going to want to die. Give me a hand here, eh?"

Logan just nodded. He agreed with Garrison - Marie was a fighter. A survivor. Knock her down, she'd get back up again. "Amount she swallowed, be surprised if she's not hating life tomorrow." he said, then had a thought. "Could spare her that, if you wanted."

"That's always got to be her call, Logan, not mine." Kane shook his head. "Let's do this traditionally for now. Besides, throwing up your own liver is supposed to be cathartic, right?"

"Given how much she had, I'll give ya $20 she horks up her own toenails." he said with a grin, sliding out of the booth to shoulder his part of the burden.
