Stressed out and craving, Noriko makes an attempt to get some solace. Unfortunately for her, Laurie's in no mood to deal with her gently.

Lockpicking was not actually a skill Nori had picked up on the streets. She'd assumed, when she'd come up with this plan, that it would be easy. She'd been wrong. "Wakawakashii darou. Baka. Omae baka," she swore at herself, attempting once again to jimmy the lock to the medicine cabinet. She knew there were sleeping pills in here, possibly other, better drugs, and Nori needed to get inside. Her hands were shaking even as she struggled with the screwdriver she'd swiped.

"You know, usually when one requires medication in a medical type place, one asks the doctors," Laurie said, tone only slightly above icy.

It had been a long day, and all she really wanted to do was catch some sleep before going back to the hospital to see her mother. She had not expected to see their newest resident trying to steal medical supplies. This was just great, another distraction to take Dr Summers-Grey or Dr Voight away from helping to save her mother.

Nori started, then spun around, staring at the intruder, eyes wide. "Kuso...," she muttered, the only word she picked out of what the girl said being 'doctor', and they were the last people she wanted out here. And now to try and lie in English. "Is problem no. I not sleep much good," she managed, all but throwing words out her mouth as they came to her, her brain jumping from thing to thing. "Want to sleep please."

The girl's accent was thick, and Laurie chewed on her lower lip as she pondered the words. Of course, Laurie would have gone for a glass of warm milk and honey before she went breaking into medical cabinets.

"Try warm milk," Laurie said, not sympathetic in the slightest. She didn't like thieves, especially when it wasn't needed. Had the girl simply asked, one of the doctors would have seen to her problems sleeping. "Now how about you get away from there before you damage something."

Milk. Yes, like milk was going to make the buzz in her brain go away. Or the shaking. Or any of it. But maybe if she played along with the blonde she'd go away and she could get back to work. "Hai. Hai." Moving away from the cabinet she nodded. "Jya. Bai-bai."

She should call Dr Summers-Grey, telepaths didn't have many problems with languages as far as she knew, and Laurie didn't even have a rudimentary knowledge of Japanese.

"You're going to have to speak English, I don't know Japanese," Laurie said, watching the other girl closely.

She didn't trust her, not even for a second. You didn't go from trying to break into something to all buddy, buddy without their being some ulterior motive for it.

"I English, no." Definitely wasn't being buddy-buddy, although there was no question about the ulterior motive. "Gomen."

Wow, this was getting them both absolutely nowhere. She also had no idea what 'Gomen' meant, but singular words were rarely nice in their meanings, although Japanese might be different.

"Look, this is going absolutely nowhere. How about you just come with me and we'll see about getting you some help sleeping, hey?" Laurie said, trying to put some warmth into her tone despite her urge to simply knock the girl out and go get some sleep. Although...that wasn't such a bad idea, was it? She could put her to sleep, and then tell Dr Summers-Grey about her patients rather less then kosher activities.

Argh. Why did so many people seem to think 'I don't speak English' as a reason to speak more, and more complicated English than before. "Shiranai," she said, sounding frustrated. "Hontou ni shiranai, yo. I really English understand don'ting." Go away!

She supposed that was a no then, and Laurie had a feeling manhandling a patient would be considered bad form for a medlab helper. It was time to go get Dr Summers-Grey, and let her deal with it. Giving the girl one last glare, she turned and walked in the direction of the doctor's offices.

"Yadda!" Suddenly she was in motion, rushing across the room to stand in between the blonde and the doctors' offices. "Aitsu iranai yo. No, onegai, please, iranai." She couldn't even think well enough to -try- to make sentences in English. "Doctors, no, iranai, need no, isha wa..." She was practically vibrating in place.

The hell? Laurie hadn't wanted to get in a tussle with the other girl but if she was going to go hesterical like this, then they couldn't blame her for using her powers to calm her down, could they? She reached out, trying to get a grip on the other girl's shoulders.

"Just calm down, okay? No one's going to hurt you."

Noriko's first reaction was to pull away - she didn't like it when people touched her - but that reaction died almost instantly as Laurie's power washed over her. She didn't know what was causing it, but suddenly an almost familiar lassitude was washing over her. The vibrating stopped as, slowly, the buzz in her mind was pushed back and her breathing slowed and deepened, eyes falling shut. "Ii-naaa." It was little more than an exhalation.

Laurie really, really wished she understood Japanese about now, because she was completely lost. She released the girl now that she seemed a little calmer and stepped away.

"Just, um...Stay there, okay? I'll be right back." Laurie said, edging about her as she tried to move closer to the offices.

"Iyaaa, ikanai, onegai." It was hard for Noriko to summon up the appropriate levels of fear about Laurie moving towards the doctors' offices, but she could at least protest the loss of her new source. Reaching out, she caught the edge of Laurie's shirt, trying to keep her close.

Great, she'd now achieved a satellite when all she'd been wanting to do was stop the girl from damaging the supply cabinet. "Fine, come with me then. Just, stop pawing at me, okay? Anyone would think I was leading you to be boiled alive or something," Laurie said, taking hold of the girl's wrist to get her to let go of her shirt.

Oh, skin contact was goooood. Whoever this girl was, she was like morphine on legs. Noriko didn't even care that Laurie was leading her to Jean's office at this point - as long as she didn't let go, Nori'd follow her off the edge of a mountain.

Of course, when they got to Jean's office and Laurie did let go, the whole situation was going to go up in smoke.

Or at least screaming and swearing. Given her lack of English skill, Nori's vulgar vocabulary was quite impressive.
