Kurt visits Monet to catch up. He offers help with her physiotherapy and she decides he needs to get out more.

It had taken him a little time to get settled back into the mansion, and Kurt had spent most of that time back-reading the journals, getting acquainted with Triscuit and remembering how to sleep in a house. But he'd decided, now, it was time to be more social and actually catch up with the people he hadn't seen in months.

Starting with the one who had apparently had a worse time while he was away than he'd ever have suspected.

There was yapping in the hallway. Monet stuck her head out the door to see a tiny, gorgeous puppy trying to prove that It Was Big And Scary to Scott's cat. "Kurt! Hey... Should you rescue the baby before he gets kerthumped by the cat?

Kurt was watching the confrontation with amusement, poised to step in if it did seem about to turn violent, but he grinned and bent down to scoop up the puppy. "There, Tris. Best not to provoke Desdemona so much that there are claws. Hello, Monet - how are you?"

She was tired enough of it all to abandon the what little tact she had. "Shithouse. You? I have to say, the baby's cute. Want to bring him inside?" She tried to tell herself he wasn't watching as she lurched toward the suite's couch. "Tea or coffee?"

"Coffee, I think", he decided, stepping inside and closing the door before he put the puppy down. He was watching, but he didn't make a move to offer help. He understood a thing or two about dignity. "Thank you."

"Cool." Monet nodded and began fighting the kettle. "How was Germany?"

"Germany was very good", Kurt told her with an honest smile. "At least, the part of it that was settling back among my family. I had missed them."

"Yeah. I get you on that part, even if there are some elements of my family that I really don't miss." Monet (carefully) handed Kurt a half-full cup of coffee. "Some of my family, I wish I'd never met." She changed the subject. "So, you and Marie getting some sibling time in now?"

"As far as we can, yes. She spent some time in Germany, just recently, and so did Garrison. There is still some... adjustment... needed, since it is not so long since we found out the truth." He accepted the coffee, nodding. "I have read back on the journals."

"What, you mean it's suddenly hard to build up an entire new relationship with someone? Honestly, kids these days. When I was your age, we had to walk to school barefoot in the snow for fifteen miles and got a new set of family every second Tuesday." She took a sip of coffee and didn't meet his eyes. "You did? Well, the good side of things is that they figured it out in the end and the docs say I'll be fine soon. Eventually."

The puppy chose this moment to curl up on Monet's feet and go to sleep. "And what must be done before 'eventually' comes?" Kurt asked gently. "Or is it only a matter of waiting?"

Monet held a hand down for Triscuit to sniff, careful not to pat the puppy directly. The growing stack of broken drones from powers training with Cain had made her more cautious about her strength. "Time. Physio. Doing the exercises the doc gave me. Cain has me doing eggshell drills in the danger room. It's fucking annoying."

Kurt blinked. "Is it not a little soon for eggshell exercises, if you are still relearning your skills?" The puppy raised his head to sniff her hand, licked it, then curled up comfortably again. "Surely some things must be worked up to."

"Not if they're creepy fucking Girl Scout drones. Those things need to die. But, no. It's part of the program, like the puzzles and things. I've got to get some fine control back, but I've also got to learn how cope with stupid fragile people and get work arounds there, as well as getting my body to learn how strong I am again."

"If you would like some further help", he ventured, "I would be willing. Not in the same way as the drones, of course, I am as fragile as anyone else, but perhaps with the fine control, or just with some more physiotherapy-based exercises?"

"Thanks. There are a few things, catching balls and stuff, that are complicated on your own. I refuse to use one of those tennis machines for that. You can duck, right?"

"I can certainly duck", Kurt agreed with a faint smile. "And I can also throw with some accuracy, if you are meant to be the catcher."

"Cool. Thanks. So, what are you up to now you're back?"

"Mostly the same things I did before I left", he said with a quick shrug. "With the addition of caring for the puppy and catching up on what I have missed in my time away."

"Hah! You need a life, my friend. We should start a going out for dinner and drinks thing or go dancing. Something. That's not healthy, always doing the same thing."

"...you know, my mother and brother have said similar things", he said thoughtfully. "If you would like to go dancing, or out for dinner, then I would be happy to."

"How does dinner and dancing sound next week, then?"

"Dinner and dancing next week it is." He smiled.

"Awesome!"
