Mr. Pinstripe Suit
Jan. 1st, 2008 01:13 amWanda and Kurt brave the dance floor yet again -- and come away not only exhausted but with the feeling that something isn't right.
Long legs stretched out in front of Wanda as she sat pressed against the wall of the club. The next round of competition had ended and they had, despite her exhaustion yesterday and the trip to the doctor, advanced yet again. But something was off -- despite a full day of nearly bed rest, despite feeling so much better, she was drained once more. It wasn't as bad as Saturday night but it was still off-putting. "Kurt?" she asked, not even looking at him. "How do you feel right now?"
He was slumped next to her, his tail curled around his waist. "As if I could sleep for a fortnight", was the answer, also without moving even to look at her.
"Emma's man checked for drugs in my system," she said quietly, eyes half-closed, "as a precaution. Came up negative. Am I being paranoid or does something feel off?"
"I do not tire this easily", Kurt agreed. "Not when I am in full health. And nor, I think, do you."
She nodded in agreement, letting her head fall back against the brick. People were emerging in clumps from the doors of the club, some chattering and laughing but a number of them covering their mouths as they yawned. Wanda frowned and straightened. A couple walked passed them -- the girl had been in the competition but the young man had apparently just joined her.
While she stumbled along, he was fine, able to keep a gentle hold of her until they got to their car. "We'll get you straight into bed, babe," he said, pressing a kiss to her head. "Man, really wore you out again, didn't it?"
Kurt watched the two of them go, until he could no longer see them without moving his head. "And it seems as though we are not the only ones", he said quietly.
"What the hell is going on?" Wanda demanded, irritation and anger stirring up. It made her feel a little bit better and it chased away the exhaustion for a bit. Not enough to make her want to get up but enough to clear her head. "It has to do with this club."
"With the club, yes... but if it was anything in the air or the drinks, Emma's doctor would have found it. So perhaps it is a person?"
"Unlikely but something we should check out." Forcing herself to sit up, Wanda dug through her purse to pull out her cellphone. "I'm getting in touch with Doug, have him do some research on this place. In the mean time, I do not think there is much we can do here, for right now. I think we might want to take a cab home, though."
"It might be a better idea, yes. I do not think taking the risk of teleportation would be a good plan, just now."
Wanda smiled. "Ending the evening in a wall is never a good ending. I refuse to stand, I'm calling for a cab. Now that is exhaustion."
