Things are looking pretty grim in Florida, but Jean hasn't lost hope. Unfortunately, someone else has - and unfortunately, Scott's not content to sit and brood about it.

Someday I'll fly away... )

As Storm's team helps the FBI in New York, another team of X-Men is heading to Mexico. It's going to be a long day.

No endings are inevitable. )

In the aftermath of the fight in Mexico, the X-Men try to pull themselves together and figure out how they're getting home.

I think you need to let your lungs finish regenerating before you try that. )

On the way to Florida, a bizarre coincidence makes them decide to risk a landing - and bring an abrupt end to a teammate's holiday. Cain is philosophical.

I can't leave you kids alone for five minutes, can I? )

Alarming news. And a rescue.

Angelo's information leads the FBI to Devlin's apartment, and an arrest. Unfortunately, Devlin's proteges decide to intervene. The X-Men caught in the middle - Angelo with the junior Preservers, Garrison with the FBI - try to keep the situation from heading south as Ororo races to their location with backup.

A brave man may fall but never yield. )

Ororo checks in with Nathan in the infirmary, who gives her a (very brief) report while waiting for the doctors to get around to him. A bit later, Jean finally makes it back to the mansion and pitches in to help patch up X-Men. She's in something of a mood.

And how does that make you feel? )
