Kurt and Tabitha, Early Morning Monday
Jan. 14th, 2008 06:01 amBackdated about a week, because I'm slow. Kurt and Triscuit meet up with Tabitha as she's returning from her run.
Tabitha bent over in the driveway, trying to catch her breath. Every muscle in her body screamed with use. She smiled in satisfaction and stretched upward. She debated a quick set of laps in the pool versus a soak in the hot tub. She stood stretched upward with her eyes closed in the cold morning air, resting for just a moment.
Kurt had already been up for hours, out running with the puppy in an attempt to tire them both out enough to sleep. He just barely managed to catch up and keep Triscuit from running headlong into Tabitha's legs.
She heard the puppy moments before Kurt caught him. She dropped her stretch and grinned. "Hey, guys. What are you up to so early? Thought I was the only one dragging my hiney out of bed at this hour." She leaned down a little stiffly to scratch behind the puppy's ears.
"I like to get up early", Kurt said easily. "And Triscuit... is more than happy to have outside time at any hour of the day, it seems."
Tabitha laughed. "He must be a handful." She straightened and stretched again. "I was just about to head to either the pool or the hot tub. Wanna join me?"
"Had you decided which to go to?" Kurt asked. "And yes, he is just... young. It comes with the territory."
"My muscles say hot tub, then maybe a nap." She stifled a yawn. "My new workouts are intense, but look!" She flexed her arm to show off a bicep.
"Yes, you are doing very well", Kurt said with a smile. "Who is helping you with these workouts?"
"I got them off the web, a site called Beginner Triathlete. They have a couch potato to five kilometer program that I fiddled around with," she explained. She smiled. "Used the long program and changed everything to miles."
"And you have consulted with Scott and Ororo, to fit them into the whole of your team training?"
She wiped the sweat from her face as she nodded. "I gave them a copy of my training plan. Scott and I talked about powers training, but haven't gotten around to setting it up yet."
Kurt nodded. "That all sounds very good. Perhaps when they return, you will be able to set that up fully."
"Speaking of that, how are you enjoying your term as our Fearless Leader?" She teased with a grin.
His smile vanished at that. "I am glad it will not last long. I have never wanted to be a leader."
"Aww," Tabitha pouted. "Poor Kurt. Come hide on the beach with me for half an hour." She tried to tempt him.
"...I suppose I could spare that", he allowed. "May the puppy join us on the beach? I think he will enjoy the sand, if not the water." Bathing him had already proved, repeatedly, to be a splashy business.
She grinned. "Haven't heard Forge mention any rules about puppies. And if he objects? It's fun to hear him squeak."
"You, Miss Smith, are a very bad person", Kurt said solemnly. "You may assure Forge I will clean up after him as necessary."
Tabitha held a hand to her chest and fluttered lashes over her baby blues. "Me? Bad? Say it ain't so!"
