Laurie continues her quest to understand last week's events. Lorna plays the role of a responsible adult.

Laurie knocked on Lorna's office door, feeling somewhat nervous but unwilling to simply walk away without talking to her teacher. She might have left it till their next class and simply caught her before or after but her talk with Scott on the weekend had left her feeling that she should talk to Lorna directly, rather then leaving it for any amount of time. If she could just understand why a teacher she usually respected had seen fit to have a screaming match in the halls, then perhaps things would make a little more sense.

"Come in," Lorna called at the knock. Things had been strangely quiet for her, apart from the being yelled and the being disappointed at. Life was continuing mostly as usual for her. Even on Thursday, she'd gone home, showered and changed for her date. Todd had had no idea that anything strange was going on in her life which was precisely what she'd wanted. Too much of her life was prone to crazy. "Oh, Laurie. Hello. Would you like to sit down?"

Laurie walked over and took a seat, trying to gather what she wanted to say in her mind, rather then just blurting it all out. There was a certain amount of...forwardness to what she was about to say, you didn't often question a teacher on their behaviour. Truth was, you usually never questioned a teacher on their behaviour, you talked to the Headmaster of the school and then they questioned the teacher. Things were slightly different here, however, and thus here she was.

"Why were you yelling at Shiro?" she finally asked.

Lorna blinked, sat back in her chair for a moment and tried to decide exactly how to respond to that. While 'It's none of your business' was both attractive and accurate, she didn't think that it would necessarily help the situation. On the other hand...it was none of Laurie's business. "That's...an excellent question and unfortunately, not one that I can answer. I was angry at him but for what reason, I can't tell you." Shiro's privacy Lorna didn't give a damn about. But Alex was already upset with her, no need to make it worse.

Laurie nodded, she hadn't really expected the whole story but she hadn't been sure if the shouting match was anger related, or something else. Onto the next question, really. "Okay, you were angry with him. Why did you choose school grounds to have a showdown with him, then?"

Lorna wrinkled her nose and rubbed at her temple. "Honestly, Laurie, because I was angry and not thinking things through. It's not actually like I thought 'hey, here's a great plan!'. I didn't choose to have a...you know, I'm not sure that showdown is the right word. It was mostly just yelling at each other." Well, and the broken vase. That was unfortunate. "I want you to know that I'd never have let anyone get hurt. You don't need to be scared that I can't control myself or my powers. This was an extraordinary circumstance and one that I very much wish had been resolved some other way."

Laurie nodded, a soft smile appearing suddenly. "I'm glad to here you say that, Miss Dane. I'd hate to think one of my favourite teachers was someone who would regularly attack people in the halls, no matter the provocation. So, I can let people know that we don't have to watch out for spats in the future then?"

Laurie really hoped that this was the case, she didn't like to think of Lorna going down that path.

Lorna didn't consider this a good time to point out that she'd once chased Alison across most of the mansion, hurling knives at her because of the destruction in the kitchen. It didn't bolster the responsible teacher image. "If you'd like. Honestly, I'd really prefer to put this behind me. Lapses in judgment aside, it's potentially damaging toward people who don't deserve it to continue any gossip."

"I think we can do that." Laurie said, pulling out a book from her bag, she'd had other reasons to see Lorna after all. "So, would it be a horrible imposition to get you to check over my menus for the week?"

Oh thank god, finally something that was actually important. "Not at all. Did you check out that webcast I recommended last class?" Lorna sat forward and held out her hand to see the work Laurie'd done.
