Angelo goes to visit Jubilee before returning to the mansion. They may end the talk on worse terms than when it began.

They hadn't really set a time - Angelo had just promised to come by before he left for the mansion - but it was a perfectly reasonable hour on Sunday afternoon that he stopped at Jubilee's apartment and knocked quickly on the door.

Unfortunately for Angelo, what seemed like a reasonable hour to a normal person, was not to Jubilee. She snorted awake at the knock on her door, blinking blearily at the alarm clock. 1pm in the afternoon on a Sunday? Who the hell was awake at that time...

"I'm coming!" she called out at the further knock at her door, struggling out of bed and into a dressing gown before she wandered out into the main part of her apartment.

Angelo blinked at the sounds leaking through the door. "....did I just wake you up, Jubilee?" Had things really changed that much?

"Yeah," she replied, yanking open the door as she recognized the voice. She had asked Angelo to come by, so she supposed she couldn't be too cranky about the timing. "I was out late last night, didn't get in till about...four hours ago?"

"...that's pretty impressive", he had to acknowledge. "Don't think I've managed that more than five times since I left LA."

"Yeah, well, that's me. Always with the impressive." Jubilee said, moving back into the apartment and over to her small kitchen to make some coffee. "You want some?" she called over her shoulder as she went.

"Never turn down coffee." He'd stepped into the apartment and closed the door behind him, but he didn't move further than that. He didn't know her well enough these days to just wander in and sit down.

Which was lucky since beyond the futon bed, she didn't yet have any furniture to speak off beyond a beanbag, and a small TV set up on her kitchen bench. "Gotcha. Um, sorry about the no-furniture thing, they're delivering it all on Monday."

"Don't worry about it, I'm good with the floor. An' hey, you did just move in."

"Yeah, true." Jubilee said as she pulled two cups from the cupboard above her head and quickly poured some coffee from the coffee maker that had been the very first thing she'd purchased. "So, what was that in the tunnels, Angelo?"

He'd known that was coming, but he still stiffened slightly at the question. "You saw it all for yourself, I figure."

Jubilee moved out of the kitchen and walked over to where he was standing and handed him the mug of coffee before heading back over to pick up her own. "Hmm, but I didn't ask you what I thought it was."

"Then tell me what you thought it was", he said flatly, hands cupped around the mug, "an' I'll tell you what it really was, far as I can."

She paused for a moment, giving him a steady look before she walked over and opened the door. "Get out."

That got a blink, but then he shrugged, setting the mug down and turning away. "Fine by me. You were the one wanted to talk."

"Talk, yes. Play games? No." Jubilee responded, waiting for him to leave.

"Who's playin' games? Ever thought it might be easier for me to do it that way?" he shot back at her as he approached the door. "Guess not. Some things haven't changed."

"Passive aggressive, much?" Jubilee replied, not moving from the door. "I asked you a question Angelo, I'm not here to share with you my opinions on what happened. I just want to know that you understand what it was. You're an X-man, if you haven't realised yet that means you do things a certain way. If you can't do that, then quit, before you do them more harm then good."

"Like you did?" was the quick response to that. "You want me to leave, then get out my way. I don't need lectures from you, Lee."

"Yeah, like I did." Jubilee said, her smile bleak and not touching her eyes. "And no lecture, Ange. I ain't the type to give them, remember? "

She stepped back further from the door, giving him ample room to move through it if he so chose. She'd wanted to know what he thought he was doing in the tunnels, and now she believed she knew. She could recognise revenge when she saw it, after all, she'd gone after it herself more then enough times in the past. She just hoped he realised where it would lead him eventually - not anywhere good, that was for sure.

He looked at her for a long moment, then just nodded to himself and strode out through the door without looking back.

Jubilee closed the door behind him silently, and went back to bed.
