The Sefton siblings catch up. There's serious talk, then things take a turn for the silly.

"So your dad finds out about this 'fallen angel' and that you're involved, gets together the traditional mob with the pitchforks and flaming torches, and sets fire to the place?" Amanda snorted and stuffed a ketchup-coated chip in her mouth, chewing a little before going on. "Pardon me, Blue, but your dad's one step away from the swishy cape and twirling his mustache."

They were in a cafe not far from the Snow Valley offices, sitting by the window to get the most of the sun streaming in. It was still chilly outside, but spring had definitely sprung.

"Oh, I very much doubt he did any more than encourage them", Kurt said grimly. "And he would plausibly deny his presence if I tried to report him, but I know what I know. If I can help it, he will never do such a thing again."

"Mad as a boxful of badgers. Was that what you were about, coming to see Queen Emma the other day? Trying to figure out a way to shut him down?" Amanda dipped another chip in the puddle of ketchup on her plate.

"Mad, yes, but not stupid. That is why I need Emma's help, yes - and she has a plan that I believe will work, without unjustly hurting the people who work for him."

"Or leading back to the school. Since he's the sort to take you down with him, 'specially if he's on the watch for it." Amanda chewed thoughtfully on her chip, then took a sip of Coke. "If anyone can come up with something, it'll be her. The Queen's as cunning as a weasel." As an afterthought, she added: "A weasel in a mink coat."

"He threatened that", Kurt said flatly. "On my first mention that the world might hear I am his son. He also threatened the clan, but I will never allow him to harm them."

"It's how it goes - you threaten him, he threatens you. That's why threats are dumb - you don't let them know what you're planning, that way they can't pin it on you later," she said with all the assurance - or possibly arrogance - of someone who had only spent two years learning the spy trade. "And he won't get within twenty feet of the clan - he tries that, he's got both of us to deal with and there's no holding back if family's involved." There was something new in her tone, a matter-of-fact ruthlessness that hadn't been there before the tunnels.

"He can know little or nothing of my acquaintance with Emma", Kurt assured her, looking at her with mild concern. "Still less that she and I are planning anything. And it is entirely legal, what we will do, but if it goes as it should, he will find himself rather short of money and power."

"Good. Best way to do it." There was a short silence as they continued eating, and then Amanda spoke again, obviously changing subjects: "So, how'd the dirty weekend with Wanda go? She like her birthday present?" It was a subject calculated to distract him.

Kurt laughed and ducked his head, taking a drink. "I... would certainly say she did, yes."

"She better have, with all the sneaking around we did." Amanda grinned wickedly. "Regular nookie does you good, Blue. You're not as uptight as you were."

"Well, thank you. I think. And definitely thank you for helping with the sneaking around."

"I owed the Boss Lady from Madagascar. One booty call deserves another, yeah?" Amanda chuckled. "Tho' if I find out she's done the deed with Jimi, I'm gunna feel all left out of this Szardos Family kink she seems to have."

Kurt blinked at that, visibly thinking it through. "If she has done anything with Jimaine, it will be a surprise to me... Stefan?"

"Um. Oops?" Amanda hadn't realised he hadn't known. Not that Wanda would keep secrets, but when she thought about it, it wasn't really an easy topic of conversation. Certainly not pillow talk. 'By the way, honey, I slept with your brother once...' "Apparently it was a while ago, some 'children of the clan leader' thing." The Boss Lady is going to kill me...

"...oh", was his slightly dazed response to that. "Well, I suppose, if it was nothing that would hurt Mirela..."

"Oh, definitely not. This was years ago, back in the day. Way before she even knew you - I think you might have been with the Munich circus by then or something," Amanda hastened to reassure him. "Definitely history."

"Then it is nothing to worry about", he said firmly. "I think I will not even be mentioning it to her."

"Phew. 'Cause Pete was saying something about duct taping my mouth shut for a few hours the next time I said too much. And I think this counts as 'too much', yeah?" Amanda looked relieved, and was only half-joking.

Kurt burst out laughing. "I promise I will not tell Pete either."
