x_kitten : *comes bouncing down the corridor*
*spots Rogue*
Hey! Rogue, Rogue, Rogue! Can you help me with something, please?

x_rogue : *turning around* Sure, honey. What is it?

x_kitten : Well Ms. Braddock's been helping me and we think we fixed me, so I need you to come scream at me... *grinning her head off*

x_rogue : Oh, really? *smiling* If you want, I think I could give it a try. Did you have a place in mind?

x_kitten : Um... well, *she pauses, then shrugs* we worked on it for a while in the Danger Room last week but I don't have the pass codes in there. We could just go outside. You have to surprise me, and out in the dark that shouldn't be too hard...

x_rogue : *grinning* Okay. I have codes for the Room, but since we can do it as well outside, let's not abuse my priviledges. Let's pick where you'll go, give me a head start, and then you come out and I'll get you... *she reaches out to tickle Kitty's ribs*

x_kitten : *squirms out of reach, giggling* Thank you so much! *eyes bright*
I think maybe the woods'd be a bad idea. Too easy to trip. Maybe out down the drive way? It's not too well lit...

x_rogue : Sure. Give me a three minute head start and come on down. I'll see if I can't scare the pants off of you.. or scare you out of them... *pausing* Have you ever done that?

x_kitten : Sure, can do. *smiles, then bites at lip* Not in a really long time... *blushes a little*

x_rogue : *stifling a giggle* Oh my. Okay. I'm going to grab a dark shirt and then get out there. See you in three minutes! *she takes off to her room, taking the stairs two at a time*

x_kitten : *calls after* Kay!
x_kitten : *waits and waits and waits*

x_rogue : *runs out via the back door and loses herself in the shadows*

x_kitten : After three minutes she heads out the door. Her eyes are large as she walks along peering into shadows and she's bouncing a little, but as she goes along it she calms down, looking around even more...
x_kitten : By the time she makes it to the edge of the drive way, Kitty is looking around frantically, almost worried.
x_kitten : "did something happen?" *she mutters to herself*
x_kitten : Biting her lip Kitty turns back, glancing over her sholder one last time before she heads back to the school.
x_kitten : Rogue? *it's a quiet call, and her eyes are darting about*
x_kitten : *About half way back she suddenly spins around, wondering if maybe Rogue's sneaking up on her...* Rogue?
x_kitten : *Her eyes are really big as she heads back the last few hundred meters, and she's really tense* Did she go in? maybe somebody called her and I didn't hear...
x_kitten : *the light at the poarch ahead of her made the darkness around her even darker, and she glanced backwards before heading forward...*

x_rogue : *grabs Kitty from behind, one hand over her mouth, one arm around her waist, hauling her off of the driveway* Don't scream, little girl. *in a very cold voice*

x_kitten : *She shrieks around the hand, and phases out of Rogue's grip, darting forward*
x_kitten : *her heart racing she dashes for the doorway, calling out* "Rogue!!!"

x_rogue : *stepping onto the driveway* Kitty!

x_kitten : *tries to stop in her tracks and goes tumbling, head over heels, ending up half way through the poarch*
Rogue?

x_rogue : Kitty! *she runs up to her* Are you okay?

x_kitten : *stares up, eyes wide, failing to notice that she's lying in the poarch*
Rogue! You're ok... That person didn't get... that person.. That was you?
x_kitten : *rolls over and somehow seems to scramble up to her feet without ever phasing in*

x_rogue : Yes, that was me... *pushing back the hood of her dark sweater* You wanted me to scare you and... didn't that hurt, lying in the porch like that?

x_kitten : *breathing quickly...* Wow... You're really good at that. No, it doesn't hurt. I was phased out. *blushes, looks at the ground* I must not have been clear... I'm sorry. I meant I needed you to scream at me.

x_rogue : Well, screaming's kind of girlie... *she trails off* I thought you wanted to be scared. Oops?

x_kitten : *smiles* That's ok... It's... Oh hell, how do I explain this. *bites at her lip*
You 'member how Terry's scream woke us all up that one night... *she means the night of the attack, her voice tightening when she mentions it and her eyes darting quickly about*
x_kitten : Well, I phased away from the attackers, but it somehow set up this... um... what did Ms. Braddock call it...
x_kitten : This learned instinctive reaction, where when I heard screaming I would automatically phase. Not a good thing.
x_kitten : So now we think we've got it so I don't do it automatically, but have to think to do it (and I think maybe I did think about phasing away from you, for a split second, so I think I am getting better...) but I need to test it.
x_kitten : *she finally pauses for breath*

x_rogue : Oh... I get it... *she rubs her face with her hands* Well, you're fast on the getting away. I hate actually screaming, but I'll do it for you if you want to try again. *she giggles* I'm sorry...

x_kitten : *giggles back* 'sokay. You were _really_ scarry anyway.
x_kitten : Thank you!

x_rogue : *shaking her head* Good enough... and yes, you did stop before you phased out.

x_kitten : So we can try it again? *her eyes are big, she's clearly giving Rogue the puppy dog look*

x_rogue : Yes. Of course. And I'll do it right this time. How about in the garden? Give me sixty seconds... *she ruffles Kitty's hair and takes off* And I promise to scream this time, *she calls over her shoulder.*

x_kitten : 'Kay thanks!
x_kitten : *she sits on the poarch steps, closing her eyes*
x_kitten : *counts to herself*
x_kitten : *minute passes, she stands and heads out*

x_rogue : *runs off and hides in the shadows again*

x_kitten : Her heart is still pounding a little from last time, and the adrenelin has her eyes wide as she heads out into the garden. Her steps are cautious as she makes her way along, she glances about as she goes. Moving through the gardens takes more care, she has to spend more time watching the ground to make sure she doesn't wander off the path and into one of the flower beds, and so can't really concentrate on keeping her eyes open for Rogue, although she tries.
x_kitten : A near miss with some Daffodils distract her, but she jerks her head up as soon as she's back on the path, almost surprised that Rogue didn't take advantage of the time... She bites at her lip, worrying a little about whether or not this will work, and almost walks into a rose bush...

x_rogue : *as Kitty passes the long shroud of the willow tree where it brushes the path, someone screams almost right behind her... high and terrified*

x_kitten : *Kitty shrieks and jumps back, landing in the very rose bush she'd just passed, and picking up several scratches on the thorns*
x_kitten : Rogue? *her eyes are wide as saucers*

x_rogue : Tada! *Rogue steps out and bows* How was I?

x_kitten : *her heart racing she grins* That was great, that was perf.... *she trails off and looks down at her hand which has begun to sting* *gasps* I'm scratched! I DIDN'T PHASE! *she launches herself at Rogue, hugging the older girl exuberently, although still taking care not to touch her skin*

x_rogue : Awesome! *Rogue hugs her back gently* I'm so proud of you.

x_kitten : Thank you thank you thank you thank you.... *she pauses for breath* THANK YOU!
x_kitten : *she's practically bouncing*

x_rogue : Okay... go on and tell Ms. Braddock how cured you are. *she pats Kitty on the back*

x_kitten : Thanks, I will, and just... Thanks! *she dashes off back into the house, leaping up the stairs two at a time*

x_rogue : *laughs and walks in slowly with her hands in her pockets*
