Laurie and Tatiana help with the evacuation. Unfortunately, some people just refuse to listen to reason.

Laurie looked at the family in front of them, stubbornly sandbagging around their house despite advice by all authorities that they should evacuate as soon as possible. It just didn't seem reasonable that people could still want to stay here, not with so much water just begging to wash through and possibly drown both them and their property.

"What do you think? Attempt to reason with them, or move onto a more reasonable group?" Laurie asked, turning to Tatiana.

"Maybe..." Tat chewed on the inside of her lip. "Well, I mean. we can't just leave them. So I guess we're going to talk to them." That was the hard thing. For all that they wouldn't be reasoned with, she couldn't just walk away and be happy with that. That's not how all of this was supposed to work. Is supposed to work.

"I suppose you're right," Laurie said, tone one of whom much is asked, when they're not terribly sure they want to be doing it. "Come on, we better go chat to them then."

She walked over to where the family were just finishing off one set of sandbags and had ducked back in to get more. Feeling a little silly, she reached up and knocked on the door frame. "Hello?"

"Hi." said a voice that appeared to be coming from chest height on her and she looked down to see a, couldn't have been more then ten, child. "Are you the 'thorities'?"

Tatiana's brows rose. "No, not the authorities. We're here to help." Tat looked over at Laurie to reassure herself that she was saying the right thing. After all, it wasn't like Tat had done things with Red X before. She cleared her throat, nodding towards the child, for Laurie to speak up if needed.

"Is your Mom here?" Laurie asked, giving Tatiana a smile of reassurance. She was doing just fine, as far as Laurie was concerned. "We're here to help move you guys to a safer place."

"We're not going anywhere." said a more adult voice, and an exhausted looking woman stepped into view, shooing her child back into the house. "This is our home, we're not going to abandon it."

"So you're wi-" Tat cut herself off, knowing that saying that they're abandoning their lives wasn't really the way to do it. "What happens when the flood waters get higher then you can sandbag?" She bit her lip, and wished there was some way she could tell Laurie that she didn't know what to say.

"We'll manage." Caitlyn replied, her chin lifting somewhat imperceptibly, and her stance changed as she gripped the door, almost as if she was about to slam it in their faces.

Laurie stepped forward, motioning Tatiana to step back. "Please, Maam. It really is the best thing for you and your family if you come with us now."

Laurie lessened the reins she held on her power, allowing it to gather on her skin and start permeating the air about her. If they wouldn't trust her willingly, then she'd do it the other way.

Caitlyn blinked at the young women in front of her for a second, as if about to say something but then she focused in on Laurie and her eyes narrowed. "I don't think so, my family and I are staying right here and you can just go tell them that."

With that she did slam the door on them, and Laurie looked over at Tatiana with a pained look. "Well, that could have gone better."

Tat ran a hand over her face. "So what do we do if something happens to them?" That was the part she didn't really know what to do with. The ones who didn't want to be helped.

"We rescue them." Laurie said simply, making a mental note to tell the Red-X organizers that they'd have to keep a watch on this house in particular. She'd already reined in her power again, considering it hadn't done her a lick of good. Not enough time to work, perhaps. "That's all we can do."
