Laurie and Yvette log
Aug. 5th, 2008 07:00 pmLaurie and Yvette talk as Laurie gets ready to move into one of the older graduate suites.
Laurie looked around at the boxes she'd already packed, some of the heavier ones she'd have to ask Cain to move for her, mostly those were her books though and didn't need to go quickly. It felt strange to be moving in to a new place, and she was already wondering how she was going to deal with having Morgan as a roommate. Yvette had somewhat spoiled her in that sense, being an extremely easy person to live with.
She was going to have to talk to Forge about installing some form of the air scrubber as well, considering her new roommate was probably not the understanding type.
"So, almost all packed." she said in a falsely bright tone.
Yvette nodded, her glowing eyes slightly dulled and her hair stiffer than usual. "As I am also," she said softly - her pile of things to be moved into the room with Angel was much smaller than Laurie's, but still far greater than what she'd arrived with. She was approaching the impending change with mixed feelings. She and Laurie had drifted a little apart over the past few months, since the older girl had become an X-Man trainee and Yvette adored Angel, but she would still miss the quiet companionable feel of living with Laurie. "You are having the help to be moving your boxes, yes?" she asked, searching for something to say.
"Yeah, I think Cain is going to help with that." Laurie replied, not quite looking at her friend. It was strange just how much this change was bothering her, but then she'd never particularly liked change anyway. "You're going to come visit, right? I mean, I know we're not going to be in each other's pockets anymore but I figure we can find something to talk about."
"Of course. And there is always the mealtimes, where we can be sitting together to be talking." When neither of them was with their particular 'group', any way. "It is strange, to be thinking you are not the student like me any more," she admitted. "Two years have been happening so fast."
"It's so weird. I'm going to be going to college soon, I'm a bit scared." Laurie admitted, flopping herself down on her now completely stripped bed. "Everything's going to be so much bigger there. And I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to get along with my professors, or if I have to tell them I'm a mutant. Two years was not enough time to prepare for all of this, honestly."
"This is being the life. There is never enough time for the preparation," Yvette replied, eyes glowing with humour. "And it will be strange, yes, but I am knowing you. You will be fine, because you will be working hard to be. But I will be missing being your roommate."
"Same here, it's going to be so strange living with someone like Morgan. She's got funny ideas about personal boundries." Laurie admitted, wrinkling her nose slightly. "I'm not sure how it's going to work out. Do you think I could get Cain to hang her from a light fixture if she decides being me would be good for a lark?"
"She is promising not to be taking on people's faces without the permission," Yvette reminded her, entirely seriously. "In the journal, when everyone is being, how you say? Paranoid?" She gave a little shrug. "I do not think she will be doing such a thing, even for the joke."
"I guess." Laurie replied, eyeing the ceiling above her and the small glow in the dark stars she'd put up there some time ago. "It'd probably be pretty unfair of me to be distrustful of someone based entirely on their mutation, especially considering my own. You and Angel got anything planned for your new room?"
"Apart from helping Angel move the beds apart again?" Yvette chuckled a little, remembering the other girl creating a giant bed after Sooraya had gone home. "I am not so sure. I am thinking Angel is not being so tidy as you, so we will have to be making the cooperation."
"Cleaning rosters are always a good idea." Laurie replied, and then grinned at how prim that sounded. "What do you think my odds are on convincing Morgan that we need one? She seems a 'seat of her pants' sort of planner."
"Very small, I am thinking," Yvette replied with her own grin.
