Jan and Bishop log, backdated
Aug. 23rd, 2008 11:42 amBackdated due to me being silly and not writing the last pose earlier. After a training session with Scott, Bishop finds Jan out for a run. Compliments are handed out, and they discuss who they're not dating.
Jan ran across the ground of the Xavier's campus, wings trailing behind her. The mansion was still the only place where she felt comfortable to show her wings out in the open while she was at her full height of five feet and four inches. OK, and X-Men missions, too, but those didn't count because then she was out with a group of mutants, fighting bad guys who also tended to be mutants, and weren't going to be very concerned about a pair of insect wings.
Bishop was just stepping out from the mansion after his morning of training. He glanced to the short girl running by and tilted his head a little. "Going somewhere or trying to get speed up for a take off?" He was playfully teasing, unless she actually had to do that, which would be odd. He never understood how winged mutants were actually able to fly so maybe she did.
"Just running," Jan said with a grin, slowing down and then turning around. "I don't need to run to fly, I just flick my wings and off I go!"
"There you have it, then." Bishop gave the woman and nod and a smile. Random running seemed a bit odd to him. The mansion had all sorts of facilities and he hadn't seen someone out running for exercise since he had been coming and going there. He didn't have anything else to say about it, however, and he didn't want to interrupt.
Jan stopped running and looked at Bishop curiously. "So you're the hunk who's got all the women and some of the guys talking, huh? Glad to see the rumors don't disappoint."
"I get a little but I get my share of bad reactions too." He looked down to Jan as she stopped to talk, smiling at her compliment. "Thank you all the same."
"No problem," Jan replied, grinning even more. "What brings you out here? A non-date outing with Jennie, or something else?"
"Power training with Scott on Saturdays. It's been happening for months now without notice. An offer hits the journals and everyone's all over it, though." He smirked. "I can't say I wasn't warned when I showed up, though."
"Warned about what? Everyone's cool here. Well, most everyone, anyways." Jan made a face. "Yeah, you have your few idiots, but other than that, people are great."
"I haven't had much problems with the people. I just heard the journals can suck people in if they're not careful. I didn't know that everyone watched them so closely." Bishop smiled good naturedly. "I can only assume it's that it popped up on the journals that people know about me not dating Jennie. A little known fact is that the mansion is full of other people, all of which I'm also not dating." He said teasingly.
"That makes two of us, then, 'cause the mansion's also full of people I'm not dating!" Jan giggled. "I used to date one of them, Tommy, and I went to last year's prom with him and this year's prom with John, but Tommy was high-school dating and John's a complete and total asshole."
Bishop laughed a bit at her response and the boyfriend history. He slid his thumbs into the front pockets of his jeans. "There are a lot of people in there, I hear. A witty, attractive woman such as yourself shouldn't have a dating problem, I wouldn't think."
"Yeah, you'd think that, wouldn't you?" Jan beamed. "And out of all of the guys at the mansion, I had to ask John to the prom. He likes to say a whole bunch of stuff about women on the journals, but then when one actually shows interest? Ha. Maybe all that talk is just for show, you know? Maybe Jean-Phillipe would have better luck."
"Maybe he's just working up some confidence. It's tough for the young bucks sometimes. And if you had to ask him then I bet he's a little shy without the internet mask." Bishop shrugged. He liked to think better of people and he didn't know who she was talking about but the least he could do was help the guy out a little.
"Nah." Jan shook her head. "Guy didn't need any confidence. I made it clear I was interested and he insulted me, more than once. That's being rude and dumb. Could have just said the interest wasn't returned instead of being all nasty."
"Oh, well that's not right at all. Then he's just killing your confidence and there's no need for that. You should have plenty, not less." Bishop watched her as they spoke. He was perfectly happy to inflate a person's ego, especially when they did the same for him.
"I still have confidence, I'm just not going to waste it on him anymore." Jan shrugged. "His loss, if you ask me."
"With what I know I'm going to have to agree." And beyond that Bishop was at a loss for topic. He didn't really know the woman but he figured something would come up. She seemed to know a little about him, at least.
"That's so sweet." Jan grinned. "I guess I should get back to my running. You had enough of a work-out for today or have somewhere to be, or you want to join me?"
"I have some things at the office to take care of. I'll come ready to run next Saturday." Bishop gave her a friendly smile. He ran usually anyway and it would be a decent way to make at least another contact and get more in the loop about mansion happenings.
"OK! You know where to find me!" Jan waved and was off running again. He's pretty cool, she thought, for an old guy.
