Clarice and Callie hit the stores.

Callie sighed as she flicked through the racks. Everything she liked they were out of her size of, and everything that was left was either not her style or some awful color that would clash with her skin. While pink was not necessarily the most radical of skin colors, it did pose a problem from time to time, and now was that time. Turning around a pretty grey dress trimmed with lace caught her eye. "Ooh," she scurried over and starting flipping through the dresses before finding one in her size. "Yay!" She pulled it from the rack and held it up against her body.

"What do you think?" She asked turning around to face her companion.

Clarice was currently engrossed in her own rack of end of season clearance and looked up from her own hunt long enough to wolf whistle and grin, "Hot stuff coming through!" she cried gleefully. The grey dress would be cute on Callie. She hadn't been sure about going shopping with the younger girl, but she was not about to deny anyone (or herself) a shopping trip if she could reasonably avoid it and Callie had so far turned out to be great company. "What do you think of this one?" she held a black and white striped tiered dress up. The strips went in slightly different directions on each level of the dress.

"You really think so?" Callie glanced down at the dress and thought for a moment. She did need a new dress, and grey was a hot color for this season. Plus it wouldn't clash with her skin tone. She looked up at Clarice's dress "It's very 80s?"

"I know!" Clarice cackled in glee causing two soccer mom's to glance in their direction and frown. Not looking at all ashamed she continued, "I love it. Made in the 80's all the way!" well, 1988, it was barely the 80's and she didn't remember them at all. Not the point though.

"I mean if you like it you should definitely at least try it on." While it wasn't exactly Callie's style she didn't think it was right for her to make decisions either way. From what she had seen, the two were very different in their clothing choices. Callie liked to keep it clean and simple, and Clarice, it seemed, veered more toward the unconventional. "Because things on the rack look different than things on your body." She nodded sagely.

Adding it to a growing pile on her arm Clarice decided it was time she try things on, "You are wise, young Padawan," she intoned. "Ready to try stuff on?" Both girls had several items already and had been at the store long enough to get a good survey of the goods offered.

A quick survey around the section and down at her clothing was all it took to confirm that she had checked out everything she wanted to look at she had. "Yes. I am ready." The two headed for the dressing rooms and parted ways as they went to try on their respective clothing choices. Callie pulled on her grey dress and stepped outside the door to wait for Clarice.

Clarice met her with the very 80's dress on. Cocking her head to one side she said, "You remind me of the babe."

"What babe?" Callie eyed her, highly confused as to whom Clarice would compare her to
.
Looking at her quizically, she said, "The babe with the power," as if it made perfect sense.

"Um what power?"

Realization dawned. She didn't get it! How cute!! And too perfect an opportunity to pass up, "The power of voodoo." The smile was definitely on the devilish side now.

"Whodo?" Was that even a power?

"No, you do!" Clarice giggled and tried to contain herself. She and Callie ended up in the weirdest predicaments.

"Do what?" Callie cocked her head to the side. "What do I do?"

"Remind me of the babe!" Oh, the circular logic was so circular. It was pretty. And fun! Whee!

But she had already said that, and Callie still didn't know who Clarice was talking about. "What babe?"

Now it was getting a little much, though Clarice could easily go through it again just for the amusement factor alone. Instead, Clarice patted Callie on the head as if she were a small child and with an enigmatic smile, disappeared back into her dressing room, "The babe with the power!" she called back with a laugh.

"What babe? What power?" Callie called out as she waited for Clarice to return.

Some people obviously never learned, "The babe with the power! I said that!" Wasn't she keeping up?

"But you never said what power! I mean there are tons of them."

"I did!" Clarice came back out in a pair of faux-leather leggings and an oversized sweater. "The power of voodoo! Too uniform-ish?" she asked, spinning.

"Voodoo?" Callie eyed the outfit and switched her head from side to side. "No." She said decisively. "I think the leggings take care of that."

It was the leggings she had been worried about actually, given that X-Men uniform pants were black leather and these leggings looked very similar. "You do," she responded continuing the joke. It was really cute how clueless Callie was sometimes. "I think I want tie-dyed leggings. Or maybe some with flowers on them. Something really psychadelic."

Callie paused for a moment to think. Her attention had been turned from whatever Clarice had been talking about to the matter at hand. She didn't think the outfit resembled a school uniform, especially the leggings, but that was just her. "You know," she said finally still thinking. "You could probably get a pair of white cotton legging and tie-dye them yourself. It's not really that hard to do."

That was true. And tie dye was fun. And cheaper than buying leggings already dyed. "You are brilliant," she proclaimed, "Even if you've never seen Labyrinth. Tell me...do you like David Bowie?" Clarice was rapidly coming to the conclusion that Callie was woefully under watched with movies. Or maybe it was just regarding the classics. And Clarice dared anyone to try to insist that Labyrinth was not a classic! "And have you seen Princess Bride?"

"Thank you. I can help you if you want. Remind me to show you my tie-dyed underwear when we get back. They're super cute." Callie twirled in place, watching her skirt billow out the slightest bit. "David Bowie? You mean the singer?" she asked when she had stopped. "I've heard of him. My mom liked him. Didn't he die? And I love Princess Bride. It's so sweet!"

"Yes, the singer. And actor. And producer," that Callie thought he had died was absolutely appalling! "And he did not DIE!" Clarice was very vehement on that point, "He's married to Iman. You know, the supermodel? You need to see Labyrinth. Immediately! David Bowie is amazing," returning to the dressing room to change, Clarice added, "Well, at least you have seen some good movies. Princess Bride is awesome!"

"Oh I know who Iman is!" Callie squealed from within her own dressing room. "She's amazing. I didn't know she was married to him." She turned around in her mirror examining the jeans she had pulled on. They looked weird to her. She emerged from the tiny room to wait and ask Clarice what she though. "Is this movie anything like that White Castle movie you made me watch," she called out still examining herself in the big mirror.

"You know how she keeps mentioning she likes her husband's music? Duh?" Clarice stepped out in a sparkly navy blue shirt and her own jeans. She liked the shirt, it looked like a dressy tank top, but the racer back was navy blue sequins. "No, Labyrinth is nothing like White Castle. It stars David Bowie and Jennifer Connolly back when she was a teenager."

"Well I didn't know her husband was David Bowie! But it makes sense now. Cute top." Callie had just thrown on the shirt she had been wearing. She had enough shirts, but maybe if they had that one in a different color... "Do these pants make my butt look big?"

What butt? Callie didn't have a butt. She had the anti-butt almost. "What butt?" Clarice asked, making a confused face. "You are completely ass-less. You look good in those pants," seriously. Some people were just weird.

Sigh. Callie knew she had no butt, but that didn't stop her from hoping. She could almost see shape in her rear end in the mirror, and that probably had to be good enough. "Find anything that's calling to be in your closet?"

Twisting in the three sided mirror, Clarice nodded, "This shirt for sure.. Maybe the first dress," she really liked how the navy blue looked on her, plus sequins were always fun. The dress was cute, but somewhat fluid. The stripes when they moved made her a little sea sick after a minute. "Are you getting that grey dress? Because it is so cute."

"That shirt is super adorable." Callie agreed still examining her lack of buttage in the mirror. "Well I need a dress and that one is really cute and soft so I'm going to get it. I'm still debating about these pants, because I need some but I'm not sure."

"You can do better on pants," she proclaimed, going back into the changing room to put her street clothes back on. There was still accessories to look at. Maybe earrings. Or sunglasses. Or a hat! Ever since she lost her hair, hats had taken on a new importance. She liked hats of all sorts. "I think hats are popular this season," or was that just wishful thinking?

"You're probably right." Finding a good pair of pants was incredibly difficult Callie was discovering. Following Clarice's lead she popped back into her changing room and threw on the outfit she had been wearing before. She emerged with the grey dress draped over her arm. "I don't see why not. I mean it's winter season soon. I saw some really cute plaid hats earlier?"
