Amidst the chaos, Doug and Jubilee meet up at the Snow Valley offices.

Jubilee pulled her badge out of her pocket and flashed it at the door
security panel, waiting patiently for it to beep at her and open the
doors. Nothing happened...she waited a moment longer to be sure and
then grumbled to herself as she walked around to the other side of the
building. She was going to have to use Remy's office balcony to get in
then. Which meant climbing up ten stories, not her idea of a good
time.

The sound of the window opening and closing was audible in the server
room, and Doug looked up from his latest attempt to invent new
swearwords as he tried to punch through the communications blackout
that had descended on Manhattan Island like a blanket. He snatched up
the staff he'd kept close to hand and crept toward the reception area.
If it was looters, he'd have to convince them to go elsewhere.

Jubilee was just exiting Remy's office and was moving toward reception
when she had to duck a well aimed staff swing, her leg moving out
quickly as she crouched, to try and sweep the leg out from under her
attacker.

"Son of a bitch." she swore, noting at the last minute that the person
she was about to trip, was Doug.

"Goddamn it, Jubilee," Doug returned as he pulled his staff back from
where it was about to strike her in the temple on a return stroke.

Still shocked at who the intruder was, he landed flat on his rear end
as Jubilee's leg hooked behind his ankles. He grunted, then pushed
himself to his feet and grimaced at his coworker. "I thought you were
a looter or something."

"Well, technically I suppose you could say I am." Jubilee noted as she
got to her feet. She flashed him a quick grin as she pulled him into a
bear hug, and then let him go. "Good to see you're still alive. So,
how's things?"

"You mean besides the menacing-looking skyscraper that grew from out
of nowhere in the space of less than a day, that broadcast from
'Apocalypse', and my inability to get much communicating done beyond a
couple text messages just after whatever it was landed this morning?
Fine," Doug said with a shrug. "I've been here the whole time, trying
to get what information I can, and seeing if I can't punch through
this interference. So far I'm pretty much striking out on both
scores."

"It is a little gauche, isn't it?" Jubilee replied, somewhat
flippantly. "I suppose nothing says 'I'm a big bad ass' like a giant
metal phallic symbol. Think he's compensating for something? You know,
besides the obvious, what with all that 'I AM APOCALYPSE, FEAR MY EVIL
VOICE! all caps speech and everything."

"I'm just saying, if he starts blathering on about how 'you are not
prepared', I'm just going to laugh," Doug quipped. He had to admit,
the large building _did_ look somewhat phallic. And Jubilee's
categorical incapability of taking anything seriously was definitely
helping with his nerves.

"I wish this guy was as lame as that." Jubilee said, walking back
toward the main offices and Doug's server room. "His goons took down
two fighter jets, saw it only about an hour ago. The guy is not
playing nice, not at all. So, Mr big brain in the sky, you got any
kind of idea as to how he's blocking everything? I for one could use
hearing from our two Daddy's about now."

"Yeah, no pressure there," Doug muttered. "Not to mention can I
please never hear you refer to Pete or Remy as 'daddy' ever again,
because, EW." He smacked his hand against the doorjamb in frustration.
"Internet, phone, hell, I don't even know if smoke signals would get
off the island. However they've done it, it's frakking thorough."

"Well, nothing for it but to wait for them to come to us, then."
Jubilee replied, gripping his shoulder for a moment before walking
past him into the server room. "In the mean time, you can grab the
photos off these memory cards and we can try and put together some
form of map from them."
