The rest of the team attempt to make short work on their way to the lifting the siege.
Someone was yelling and Wanda gritted her teeth as she held out a glowing hand towards Bishop. "Garrison's comments aside," she yelled over the growing din around them, "I have no idea what this will do to you! The last few times I've used a concentrated hex blast on a human they were dead within seconds. Minutes, if they were lucky. Are you sure you want to do this?" Bishop was going to have to decide quickly, they were seconds away from joining the fray.
"I'm not your average bear." Bishop motioned for her to continue with his hand as he spoke. In only seconds Wanda was firing at him. His training with Scott had been paying off, he had everything fairly under control despite the erratic nature of the hex powers. Well, it was mostly under control, he had thought.
Wand was, pleasantly, surprised that he was still standing and in one piece. Unaverage bear or not. She raised an eyebrow at the expression that crossed his face. "Well, everything on the outside looks fine but if you start losing your bits down the road..."
"I'll have you check my bits later then, since you're the expert." Bishop moved up quickly into the front. Wanda was very powerful but he was likely more durable. He used his first blast of hex power to try to clear out those standing by. The city was already beyond torn up so he didn't have any problem with destroying something that wasn't very important in order to draw attention to himself and clear out everyone who didn't want a fight.
A chasm opened up in front of the three of them as Bishop's blast hit everyone in its path and threw up out of the way. The dull smack of bodies against concrete could be heard if you listened closely enough. Morgan was splitting her attention between those now bowled over, those still to be dealt with and the pair of people she was working with. "Isn't that sweet, should I give you two some time alone?" Sure, the comment was a little late in coming but Morgan thought that was valid given the situation.
Hanging out in the rear of the trio, Morgan crouched down and released fire from a semi-automatic rifle onto a group of mutants who looked to be considering the best recourse in answer to Bishop's blast. "Can't go and let 'em start thinking. They might think they're real boys," she muttered to herself.
Shrieks of metal on stone ripped through the air as the upper corner of the building next to a rushing mob broke loose, cracks formed from Bishop's blast and urged to drop thanks to Wanda. It knocked out a small portion of the mutants directly while others were trampled by their fellows trying to get out or taken out by pieces of flying rock. Wanda shot Morgan a tight grin over her shoulder as she threw a blast at the street, watching it melt away from the force, taking some feet with it.
Bishop used all the energy Wanda had provided to clear the way. It was their primary goal at the moment; there was no need to hold back, she could just charge him again later if it was necessary. Though he did wonder if it was as dangerous as she was saying. The thoughts kept him occupied for a moment as they cleared a full path and scattered everyone not looking for this kind of fight.
"Why can't I have useful powers like that?" Morgan muttered to herself. She walked backward up toward Wanda, checking behind them and taking out a few people trying to creep up on them from the edges. One guy ended up shot in the thigh and while he did crumple to the ground Morgan made a face. "This ain't shoot to wound, love." Another shot and the bullet blew part of the back of his skull off. "Better." She spun around to survey the damage Wanda and Bishop had done to clear the way. Those meat puppet type things were advancing on them, though, filling in the gap the blasts had cleared.
"I hate those things," Wanda said quietly as the red around her hands built up. "My advice is to hit them hard and keep hitting until they are no longer twitching. And try not to get anything in your mouth because you'll end up regretting it." A hex blast tore a hole in the chest of the nearest one and the two following ones took out its knees. It fell to the ground with a wet slapping noise.
A pistol just didn't seem to be capable of laying out the damage needed to take those puppets down. Bishop looked around for something more suited for the job. Although Wanda's abilities did seem to good against a single target he wanted a bit more. Since he had survived absorbing very dangerous hex energy he was feeling a bit daring. Tearing a power cable from the nearby wall Bishop channeled the energy through himself, better able to direct it after a build up he fired the current directly into a number of the puppets. They were living material so it should have the same effect as it would on any person.
Where there was a crowd, there was structure - of a sort. Wanda took a step back so she could study the lines without worry that she'd be run over without notice, letting Morgan cover her while she was temporarily distracted. It would seem the mob had no strong points, or weak ones for that matter, but there was a pattern to everything if one knew where to look for it. And Wanda could easily see where the breaking point was. "Bishop, hit the left side!" she yelled, yanking and pulling hard on strings that focused on that section. "Morgan, focus your fire where he hits!"
The blast from Bishop worked exactly like he had planned - it zig zagged from meat puppet to meat puppet, filling the air with the heavy scent of burnt flesh. Wanda acted in concert with his attack and it widened the attack radius several times over; behind them, Morgan opened fire on the ones that weren't caught up in the electrical blast, cutting them down even as they started forward. It was hard to ignore the smells of burnt flesh, electrical discharge and weapons but they pushed it to the backs of their minds.
They finished and all stood breathing heavy. The attack had opened an incredibly large whole in the defenses and Wanda grinned as she strode forward with Bishop and Morgan now at her side. The line of attackers had crumbled and while there was still a long way to go before they were safe, they were starting off on the right foot.
Another wave of attackers, mostly more of those monstrous meat puppets, and on one side of Wanda she could see Bishop charging up again while Morgan reloaded her guns. Red light spilled over all three of them as Wanda raised her hands, bracing herself for the upcoming charge.
