Logan: It All Seems So Contagious
Feb. 1st, 2004 07:38 pmHe'd gone out hunting, but from the looks of her post on the journalling system, Marie'd had more luck than he had.
Logan got dressed and headed downstairs, but stopped before he got to her room. He could smell them, hear them. They were in the game room; he turned and headed in that direction.
Artie was on Marie's lap, playing some sort of video game. From the looks on the other boys' faces, he was winning. Miles was there, too, curled up against Marie's side, a controller sitting unused in his lap. He looked positively blissful to be there, to be normal with the other boys.
Logan couldn't even imagine how that felt.
Artie was calm, pleased, but clingy. He'd seen that before, after Stryker had kidnapped the boy, and again after the invasion a week ago. It left a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach, seeing him like that so soon after the last time. Logan wanted to go in and make sure Artie was okay, but his gaze kept straying to Miles.
Miles, who could kill him, just by being too near for too long.
He turned and walked away.
