Angelo and Catseye
Nov. 11th, 2008 01:44 pmCatseye runs into Angelo and enlists him as her entertainment for a while.
Shamu had good toys. Catseye loved to sneak into Kyle's room and borrow them, and then hide them throughout the mansion when she was finished playing with them. Shamu couldn't leave Kyle's room because of the Professor's allergy, and Catseye suspected he would be too stupid to leave even if she left Kyle's door open for him. Sometimes Kyle found the toys and brought them back to the room, though. And then Catseye would take them and hide them again. It was a good game.
Today she had no homework and a shiny plastic ball the size of a golf ball with a bell in it. She was streaking throughout the mansion batting the thing and chasing it, thoroughly enjoying herself. When the ball bounced down the stairs the purple cat plunged after it, not noticing until too late that she was headed straight for someone's legs, colliding fully with the figure.
"Ahhh!" Angelo yelped in a way that was perfectly understandable considering a good-sized healthy housecat had just barrelled into his legs and nearly knocked him over. He teetered a little and the stack of books in his arms wobbled more before he managed to steady both. "Cats, watch where you're goin', huh?"
"Mrrrrrrt?" With a swish of her tail, Catseye shifted into human form and grabbed some of the books from Angelo in case she did something to make them wobble again. "Catseye is sorry, SillyPuttyBoy." She bent down to grab the ball and handed it to him. "Does SillyPuttyBoy want to play with Catseye's ball?"
"Don't think it's quite as much fun when you're not a cat", he said with a wry grin, nodding in easy acceptance of the apology. "We could play, though, if you let me drop these off."
"Catseye will help!" she announced energetically, dancing off down the hall with the books she had taken from him. "Then SillyPuttyBoy will play! What is SillyPuttyBoy reading?"
"Stuff for school", Angelo told her with a shrug, following her. "Politics, law, sociology..."
Catseye nodded sagely. "Catseye likes social-ology. And Catseye likes studying human laws because some of them are very funny. Does SillyPuttyBoy like to learn why cats do what cats do?" she inquired, cocking her head. "That is what Catseye is writing about in history class with Mister SplodeyButt! Catseye can show it to SillyPuttyBoy when it is finished!"
"Could come in useful", he agreed, considering the idea. "You never know what's gonna turn out you need it."
"What does SillyPuttyBoy want to play?" Catseye asked excitedly. "Chase?! String game? Bat the ball? Pounce?"
He thought over those options with due solemnity. "Well, pounce might be more fun for you than me, but we could maybe go with chase."
