Jay and Catseye
Nov. 12th, 2008 08:54 pmBackdated last Wednesday.
Catseye seeks some human companionship, and Flying Cat Death From Above claims another victim. Jay's guitar.
Stretching languidly, Catseye rose from her spot in front of the sunny window and padded off down the hall, in search of company. Walking along the bannister of the second floor, it didn't take long to find someone who suited her wish for companionship perfectly. She stalked her prey carefully, watching him walk across the front entrance of the mansion as she leapt down from the balcony, weaved between two of the balustrades and dove off. "Mroww!" she yowled as she leapt onto his shoulder, claws scraping on his guitar. FlyingCatDeathFromAbove!
Stumbling forward, Jay crashed into the wall and four very distinct THAWNGS came off his guitar and he went to whirl around but tripped, fell on his instrument. "Godamnit!" he cursed, failing arms, feathers and wings. "What the-- what the hell is wrong with you? Cats!" Jay slithered out, got up and turned around, delicatedly picking up his guitar and running his hands along the broken strings. "Damnit Cats, look what ya did! You almost broke my guitar! What the hell!"
Whoopsie. Catseye shifted immediately from her spot on the floor a few feet from Jay, where she'd landed before she fell with him. "Catseye is sorry BirdBoy! VeryVeryVerySorry!" She scrambled over to Jay and wrapped her arms around him, nuzzling his neck with her head. "Is BirdBoy hurt like the TwangyNoiseMaker?"
His wings shuffled irratibly and he turned his instrument around, just in time to get an arm full of Catseye. "No, Ah ain't hurt, but look what you did to mah guitar. Broke four strings! Look!" he gestured to her, the strings hanging limply off the body as he shook it. "You almost broke the neck," Jay said as he was testing it to make sure nothing was loose. "What's wrong with you anyways? Bored or just lonely? Or both?" Gez.
Catseye poked at Jay's neck with her fingers. "BirdBoy's neck seems okay," she informed him, grinning in jest. She burrowed her nose into his cheek. "Catseye was lonely, yes. Catseye is sorry again BirdBoy. Can Catseye fix the strings for BirdBoy? Catseye loves listening to BirdBoy play the TwangyNoiseMaker."
"Stop that,"Jay swatted her fingers away and grinned down at her, butting his head with hers. Sometimes she felt like a Terry substitute, but far more innocent than his best friend. "It's fine. C'mon. Ah'm a bit lonely too and no, you can't fix the strings. You'll probably break the other one anyways. Maybe Ah'll sing somethin' for ya. You wanna hear somethin' new?"
"YesYesYes!" Catseye agreed emphatically, jumping up and bouncing in place. "BirdBoy, can Catseye have the broken strings? They are good for playing with." She loved wires, even more than she loved feathers. There were a few feathers on the ground, actually, and she scooped up the biggest, prettiest ones to keep for later.
"Yeah sure." Jay removed his arm and walked down the hallway, rolling his shoulder because it felt funny since she landed him on his guitar. "So we didn't talk about what you're doing back now."
"Catseye is doing lots of things!" she replied excitedly. "Catseye is going to school and going on camping trips with MutantGirlColony and writing essays about cats!" As they walked, she kneaded her fingers into Jay's shoulder the way she would knead her paws into a blanket she wanted to curl up on, but with no claws. "What is BirdBoy doing now?"
"Mm," Jay was half tempted to close his eyes and curl up where ever she wanted if she kept kneeding his shoulders like that. He enjoyed it thoroughly and as they went up the stairs, Jay was almost sorry that she had to stop. "Ah'm going to school. In just basic stuff right now but Ah'm enjoying it." Or as much as he could when he wasn't falling behind adn that was like, never.
"Just tryin' to work out mah music pieces. Ah'm doing some new stuff on the side and Mark's helpin' me with it. Ah think it's stuff you'll really like. " He stopped at his door, immediately going inside and setting the guitar to lean against the couch. "You havn't come around at all. Guess that means yer busy."
Catseye nodded wanly. "BusyBusyBusy. Catseye wants to learn so Catseye is working hard. But Catseye is sorry she hasn't been visiting BirdBoy. Catseye will try to visit more." Maybe she would leave JP alone for a while and spend her nights napping with Jay instead. "And Catseye has always liked allllllllll of BirdBoy's music so Catseye is sure she will like the new stuff!" She jumped on the couch, careful to hold onto the guitar so it wouldn't be knocked over, and toyed with the snapped strings.
Siting down next to her, Jay spun the guitar around and propped it on his lap after he fished some extra strings off the coffee table. "Ah think you'll like this. It's a little diffferent. Inspirational to me. Ah've already recorded it once and Ah'm just waiting for Terry to find time where we can record it again. Might have to buy sometime into another studio cause Ah'm gettin' impatient. Here--" he passed her two of the four strings that were broken and began to restring the rest.
Snuggling in against him, the catgirl rested her head on his shoulder, adding the strings to her pile of feathers. "Catseye likes different, BirdBoy," she assured him lazily, smiling broadly.
"Yeah, Ah know." Jay smiled and quietly resumed stringing his guitar, shaking his head at the small pile of feathers. Some things changed and some people never did.
