Backdated to November 9 2008, around noon.

Jubilee is hanging out at the mansion, and Julio just happens to be in the vicinity. The two talk.

Jubilee was sprawled out on the lawn, a blanket spread across the grass as she watched the mansion residents moving steadily about the grounds. There was a chill in the air at this time of year, but not yet bad enough that she couldn't still spend most of her time outdoors. She'd been given a break for the day from training, and she was taking advantage of it thoroughly.

Currently, she was watching one of the former, Julio if she remembered journal entries correctly, Xavier students stretching out by the front of the main house.

"Why would anyone in their right mind be exercising on such an awesome day?" she called out finally, closing the book she'd only been half reading and placing it down by her side.

"Because it is an awesome day?" Julio called back while stretching his left leg. It was warm enough that a quick jog was in order. "Some of us actually enjoy exercising?" She was one of the people from Snow Valley currently ensconced at the mansion. He was actually a little glad, having the people from New York stay with them and getting to know the students and graduates at the mansion. The less judgment going around the better.

"Alas, what is the world coming to when our young folk believe all the hype about exercise being good for you?" she asked, throwing up a hand to her forehead in mock despair. "It'll send you blind, you know. True medical fact."

"No, that would be... I'm not going to say it," he added with a grin. Dirty jokes were not for girls he had just met. "I've never been one to follow a trend," he added, switching to stretching his right leg. He liked running, it cleared his head and he always felt crappy if he didn't do it for long periods of time.

"That sort of thing will just make you look lopsided." Jubilee advised with a return grin. "Or so I'm told. I'd join you on the run but I'm nursing a case of temporary paralysis. It'll last just long enough for the sun to go down, then I will miraculously recover and go inside before it gets too cold. You run often then?"

"Yeah," Julio said, "Whenever I can. I even have a jogging class, so technically I am doing homework." Vassar gave him a bit of an advantage there anyway. He attended because of their Earth Science program, and discovered he was usually the only straight male for miles. (Which wasn't all that different from Xavier's really) which meant Jogging often had girls in running shorts. He did have a girlfriend, true, but the relationship continued to limp along with Nori's patented unwillingness to do anything beyond the purely physical. It was starting to bore him, sadly, and he was starting to find reasons to avoid her.

"What're you studying that has jogging as homework?" Jubilee asked, pushing herself to her knees before sitting back into a cross legged position. Easier to talk when you weren't lying on your stomach.

"It's a PE class," Julio said, stretching out his arm for good measure. "Jogging. We run around a track for an hour. I needed an easy A because my schedule's pretty loaded."

"Smart choice, but what else are you doing then?" Jubilee asked, making no effort to disguise her study of him. He was a very nice specimen, pity about the age difference, really. Even she, as far as she'd fallen, had some morals to speak of. "And yes, I am totally grilling you for information, should you be wondering."

"This and that," Julio said, waving a hand. "Studying. Paperwork. Making the world a better place." He figured people pretty much knew who he was and what he had done. New kids would always point and whisper at him when they first saw him. He was used to it by now. It didn't mean he could be all that comfortable about giving away information about himself.

"I didn't know you could make the world a better place in College. Maybe I'd have stuck to my studies if someone had told me that." Jubilee noted, leaning back on her palms as she dropped her head back in a stretch, before flipping herself into a cat crouch, and then standing as she dragged the blanket with her. "You'd be surprised just how curious people are, you know. The more you don't say, the more they'll worry at something till you tell them. Sort of like excitable puppies, always gettin' into the things you don't want them too, piddling on the furniture. That sort of thing. I find that just lying to them is a lot easier in the long run. That way they think they know you, and they're happy. Just make sure the lies are simple ones, never a good idea to get too complicated."

Julio raised an eyebrow at the girl. "As you say," he said gamely. There was an awful lot of bitterness there, something Julio didn't feel inclined to touch, considering they had just met and all. He wondered how badly he'd bled off his own anger when he had first come to the school. There had been thrown furniture and broken windows, that was for sure.

"I'll leave you to your run." Jubilee said, throwing the blanket over her shoulder and nodding toward the front of the house, and the person who'd suddenly appeared there. "I figure that's my sign that they've decided free time is over. Good luck though, with all of it, maybe you really will make the world better. Someone's got to, anyhow."
