When it starts to snow, Lil heads outside to find Zanne practicing her powers.

The snowflakes were big and fluffy, falling thickly from the sky to carpet the ground. Perfect, in Zanne's estimation, for a little bit of powers training. Heavily bundled, she trudged out to the middle of the back lawn and began to set small practice freezes around her, halting the progression of the snow around her for as long as she could before letting it go.

As soon as she spied the first snowflake from the window of the guest room, Lil couldn't stop smiling. Yes, she was content - happy, even - about her choice to move to the mansion but that didn't mean she didn't miss home. Grabbing a pair of purple Chucks, the tall blonde slipped them on more out of habit than necessity and headed out of the giant house without even giving a thought to putting on a coat. The world was turning white, crisp and clean; just the way she adored it... and it seemed as if she wasn't the only one. Spying someone a little bit further out on the lawn, Lil made her way toward the form that was more coat than person. "Heya," she greeted, hoping she wasn't interrupting anything too important.

"Oh! Hi!" Zanne let go of the freeze she was holding and looked up, startled. The slight buildup of snow that had settled on top of the arc of the freeze broke over her head, causing her to splutter as it landed solidly on her head and shoulders. Somehow she'd missed the other woman's approach. Exceedingly tall and blonde, she wasn't someone Zanne immediately recognized. "Are you Amara or Lil?" she asked, once she had brushed herself off.

Watching the collection of snow come spilling down on the other woman made the blonde's smile spread. "Lil," came the answer with an extended, glove-less hand. "I've seen people play with snow before but never like that," she added, chuckling as she tilted her chin to where the invisible dam had been holding the frosty white flakes.

Zanne pulled off her mitten to shake the other woman's hand. "I was doing a bit of practicing. The snow isn't fast or heavy enough to actually get stuck in a freeze, so it kind of starts building on top," she explained with a wry grin. "I'm Zanne, by the way. Welcome to drama central."

"Nice to meet you, Zanne," Lil replied after giving her hand a firm shake. "And thanks. Haven't been inflicted with too much drama yet but from what everyone keeps telling me, I have a feeling that's gonna change soon." She was still settling into her new life but the Canadian knew she'd be bored soon enough and itching to kick butt. A little drama on the horizon could be a good thing. "What exactly were you doing with the snow?"

Zanne resisted the urge to laugh. No matter how you tried to avoid it, you somehow managed to get embroiled in something here sooner or later. "I was just practicing holding freezes," she replied instead. "I can stop time within a bubble, basically, and I was working on how long I can do it for. The snow gives me something visible to work with. I was going to try working on range afterwards, if I didn't get to cold."

The taller woman's head bobbed as she grinned. "Very cool. Using the snow for practice I mean. Different, but cool. Can't empathize with the getting cold part, though. Haven't felt temperature differences since I was eight." Which explained the lack of winter wear. No coat, no gloves, not even a scarf; just a pair of jeans and girlie tee. "Time in a bubble's impressive as hell though," she added.

"Yeah, I think so, too. Thanks." Zanne smiled widely. She snuggled down into her coat as a brisk wind brought a volley of icy air and snow in their direction. "I don't know that I can help but feel cold looking at you though," she said, her voice muffled by the material. "I've been on the East Coast for yen years and I still haven't gotten used to this. You have super mutant heating powers, maybe?"

Her laughter rang out again. It wasn't the first time she'd been told that her lack of layering gaze people shivers in the winter. "Something like that. Bio-aura around my skin that basically blocks everything out but keeps me nice and toasty which is perfectly fine with me since I grew up in a place that was much colder than this and had significantly less daylight this time of year. Comes in handy for things like snowball fights." Now, there was an idea. Once Lil started making more acquaintances and a few more storms blew in, maybe she would arrange an all out snow war.

"I bet it does," Zanne agreed cautiously, hoping that Lil wasn't actually planning to start one. "You know, you should recruit some of the kids, I'm sure they'd would love a snowball fight, although there would be all sorts of gratuitous abuses of powers." Like freezing all of the snowballs in mid-air and running for cover as fast as she could if she got caught in it. A chill was started to seep into her bones, and she shivered. "I think I'm going to head in before I freeze solid and get some coffee. Care to join me?"

"Powers allowed makes it all that much more interesting. Just gotta be careful with the kids, I guess and hey, it can be chalked up to 'practice,' too, then." As long as everyone stayed in control and those with super strength didn't start winging their opponents in the head, everything should be fine. Taking pity on Zanne, Lil gave another nod that had her ponytail dancing. "Yeah, sure. Coffee sounds great." She could always come back out later. Maybe by there there would be enough accumulation to really have fun.

Purple Chucks? Hmm, and what sort of purple Chucks would these be, Lil? Not purple ones with white and black cats on them? Which I can't seem to find a picture of online, damn me buying shoes from crazy Toronto shoe dives!
