All too early in the morning, Lil is woken by a purple ball of fur.

It was a habit she'd picked up during the last year or so of her marriage; when Maddy'd started to call, saying he'd be late or when he'd sneak out at night, Lil had started to sleep in positions that denied him any space in the bed. On her belly with arms spread with nothing but a light sheet despite the open window and a couple of pillows, she took up as much of the mattress as possible. A light snore accompanied the steady in and out of breath as the blonde woman slumbered, dreaming of things that would make no sense when she awoke - if she remembered them at all.

The purple cat slipped in through the open window, having been out for a quick hunt. She'd been spending her nights recently in her own suite so she could make sure Meggan didn't levitate out the window, but tonight the need for a late-night snack had her prowling the grounds- one eye always on the window and always staying close enough that she could run to it if she saw it opening. She'd eaten her snack in two quick bites out in the snow so as to avoid any more problems with scaring the humans when they found mice in their beds, and then had decided to check quickly in on the new woman who said she liked cats. Her feet were a little cold and wet, but soon she'd be in the nice warm bed and then the woman wouldn't mind.

Silently Catseye jumped down from the window sill and onto the bed, walking carefully across the sheet and putting a paw on the woman's ass, testing. It was warm! Without further thought the cat climbed up and curled up.

Stirring slightly, the tall woman let out a small noise of annoyance followed by a louder snore but didn't wake. She'd always been a sound sleeper and with the depletion of her sense of touch, the insignificant weight of a cat sleeping on her rear hardly registered past the dream - a weird sequence of involving a drive-in movie featuring a dancing Elvis in a Santa hat with a bag full of chocolate - as it continued; accompanied by the rise and fall of her even breaths and the same easy snore.

OoooooOOOOOOOOooooooooo! She hadn't even woken up to yell at Catseye! Greatly pleased, the cat snuggled in more comfortably, kneading her claws through the sheet into soft, warm flesh, and began to purr.

"No, I don't want any popcorn, thanks," Lil murmured, her comment directed to the dream elf as it floated by the car. Her snoring continued to grow louder with each breath and the only time she moved was to rub her face against the mattress once or twice then settled back into peaceful slumber.

Catseye's ears pricked back at the odd phrase, and her whiskers twitched. She closed her eyes for a moment, but the breeze from the open window was ruffling her fur and giving her a chill. Annoyed, she got up from her warm spot and padded silently back to the window, tugging it closed with her tail. It gained speed as it moved, however, and ended up slamming closed with a lot more enthusiasm than Catseye had anticipated, making her jump.

While the kneading of her butt had done little to rouse Lil, the slamming of the window was more than enough to jolt her awake from her sleep. Shooting up into a sitting position, the blonde woman brushed her hair from her eyes as she blearily looked around the room. "Maddy?" she called out, brain still fuzzy with sleep before registering it couldn't be her husband as she was not only no longer sleeping in their bedroom but she was in a different country all together. "Somebody there?"

"Mrrt," Catseye answered, jumping off the windowsill and onto the bed. She brushed up against Lil's side, walked across her lap and rubbed her face against Lil's other side. SillyDreamsWoman can go back to sleep now. Catseye closed the window so it will be nice and cosywarm for sleeping.

The sudden appearance of a purple cat in her bed startled Lil as much as the window had. True, she like cats - more the dogs, at least - but she hadn't expected one, especially a purple one - to quite literally land in her lap in the middle of the night. "What the fuck? Where the hell did you come from?" she asked, not at all expecting a response as she reached out to scratch the cat's head. Over time, she'd learned how to handle animals without hurting them and this one, she scooped up to bring closer to her shoulder all the while cooing at it. "You probably shouldn't be in here, should you, Furball, huh? Got away from one of your kids, I bet. I'm gonna put you out in the hall so you can go find them."

Why did everyone think Catseye was someone's pet? She clearly needed to do a better job explaining herself on the journals. It would save her having to explain it in peoples beds, as she obviously had to do now. A little irritated, she wriggled out of Lil's grasp to land on the bed and shift into girlform. "Catseye is not getting away from one of her 'kids,'" she muttered. "Catseye does not belong to a human, and Catseye does not want to go in the hall. Catseye likes napping with SillyDreamsWoman so Catseye wants SillyDreamsWoman to go back to sleep so Catseye can nap before going back to Catseye's room."

She frowned as the cat escaped then watched her transform with eyes going wide. "What the fuck!? Lil cursed again, all but convinced she was still dreaming as she pulled her covers closer to her chest in reflex. Cats didn't just become girls everyday, but as the sleepy haze cleared, the memory of where she was pushed its way to the forefront of her mind. Not a cat - a girl. A mutant girl; probably a student here. "Don't - don't do that," she scolded without much heat in her voice. "And who the fuck is SillyDreamsWoman?"

"Don't do what?" Catseye asked, confused. "Become human? Catseye would not, only Catseye sometimes has to so that she can explain things to SillyHumans. Catseye is sorry if she frightened. And you are SillyDreamsWoman because you were having very silly dreams and talking out loud in your sleep."

"My name is Lil, not SillyDreamsWoman and it's okay. You didn't mean to startle me, I'm sure," she said with a sigh. "Which would make you Catseye if I'm understanding you correctly... from the journal? The whole Shamu cat thing?" The blonde woman rubbed both her eyes with the palms of her hands, not quite sure why she was continuing this conversation in the dead of night when she should kick this girl out and get back to sleep.

Catseye nodded emphatically. "Catseye is Catseye, yes. Catseye wanted to come visit SillyDreamsWoman because SillyDreamsWoman said she liked cats so Catseye thought that would mean good naps because some people who don't like cats or don't like Catseye are not good for naps but people who like cats are good for naps." The eye-rubbing had her scooting towards Lil on the bed. "SillyDreamsWoman is sleepy, should go back to sleep now."

She blinked hard, trying to comprehend what the purple haired girl was telling her. "Sorry, sweetie, but you gotta get out before I go back to sleep. I don't go in for the whole girl-on-girl thing. Or the girl-on-cat; that's too freaky for my tastes," Lil apologized as she pushed back her sheet, preparing to rise and show Catseye out. "And call me Lil, please. Not SillyDreamsWoman. My name's Lil."

"But SillyDreamsWoman is warm!" the catgirl protested, a sad look on her face. "Catseye does not want to leave! Catseye does not make people sneeze, and only wants to nap, and SillyDreamsWoman said she liked cats! How come Catseye has to leave? Is it because SillyDreamsWoman does not like Catseye now that she knows Catseye is not always a cat?"

"Lil," she repeated, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Lil. My name is Lil. Catseye is Catseye. Lil is Lil. Catseye can call Lil whatever Catseye wants in Catseye's head but when Catseye is talking to Lil, she'd better call her Lil and not SillyDreamsWoman or Lil is going to call Catseye Furball, got it?" She felt like she was talking to a two year old and the blonde had never had a lot of patience with children. "And you can't sleep here because I don't sleep with girls, I just told you that." But that sad look, it was heart-tugging. And she could always claim exhaustion in the morning. "If you call me Lil and promise to stay in cat form, I'll let you nap here, okay? You can't turn back into a girl and no licking me or anything, got it?"

With an emphatic nod, Catseye shifted back into catform and pounced on a warm spot in the middle of the bed where Lil had been stretched out. She hoped the blonde woman wouldn't notice that she hadn't called her 'Lil', or anything else for that matter.

"Not a chance, Furball," Lil chuckled, picking up the cat and dropping her onto the pillows before stretching out again. "My bed, my rules, my spot. You can find somewhere else." Pulling up the light sheet over her waist, the blonde woman rubbed her face against the mattress before muttering, "if I wake up with a purple-haired girl in my bed trying to cop a feel, I'm kicking you out for good."

Catseye snuggled close to Lil's head, giving anyone who would have seen them the impression that Lil was wearing a furry hat, and resumed purring. She gave Lil's nose a lick with her rough tongue and the look on her face was almost a teasing grin, if cats could grin.

"Very funny," the blonde murmured, reaching up to give the cat a final scratch behind the ears before dropping her hand back to the mattress. "I'm serious about the girl part. I find a naked chick in my bed and I'm gonna be pissed. 'Night, Furball."
