Log: Kurt and Lil
Jan. 7th, 2009 12:39 pmKurt and Lil have a run in on the way to the gym.
She wasn't the best singer - or even a decent one, in truth - but that did little to deter Lil from singing along with her iPod as she made her way to the gym. Now that classes were in session again - and being jobless still - she found the afternoon to be the perfect time to do her workout; less people, less distraction. Less people to tell her stop that horrific noise she was making... Her golden head bopped up and down as she lost herself in the music, getting pumped for her workout while paying little attention to anything else around her.
Kurt wasn't teaching a class at that particular time, so he'd chosen a usually quiet time of day to head for the gym himself. Normally, he'd walk, but perhaps he was in a lazy mood today, choosing to use his powers instead. Just as Lil walked through the gym doors, a cloud of sulphurous blue smoke appeared with a bamf not two feet in front of her.
To say the blonde had been started would be an understatement. "What the fu-" Acting purely on instinct and training, the Amazon dropped her bag, tearing her earbuds out of her ears while swinging her free arm in an attempt to put whatever was in front of her into the nearest wall and pin it there.
And touched... almost nothing. Her arm did brush Kurt's shoulder, but just as instinctively, he'd ducked and somersaulted away from the attack, fetching up against the wall a little less violently than intended.
Crouched in a fighting stance, Lil glared at the very blue and very furry figure who'd quite literally appeared out of thin are for several long moments before even considering relaxing her guard. "What the fuck are you doing?" she asked. "Trying to give me a fucking heart attack or something? Shit!" First Jennie on the porch and now this! The lack of activity in her life was making her jumpy and that was definitely not a good thing if people wanted to keep their heads where they grew.
"I am a teleporter", he said apologetically, rolling into a more relaxed position. "It was unlucky timing, no more, but I am sorry."
Blowing a few wisps of hair out of her face, she dropped her shoulders then picked up her fallen bag before straightening with her hips cocked to the side. "It's fine. Just... watch where you're going next time or something."
"Sadly, I cannot." He bounced to his feet. "Not before I am already there. But further from the door, perhaps, next time."
"Or, you know, walk," Lil suggested as she reached into the bag only to pull out her iPod and switch it off for now. No use wasting the battery she'd forgotten to charge yet again. "Less of a startling people."
"That is always a possibility", he agreed easily. "I am Kurt Sefton, by the way - I do not believe we have met in person." She was almost as hard to miss as he was, after all.
"Lillian Crawley-Jeffries," she returned, still not quite sure what to make of Kurt. She tugged the bag back onto her shoulder, shifting her weight back and forth from foot to foot as they talked. "Lil's fine."
"Lil it is. Pleased to meet you." Today was apparently a particularly cheerful day.
"Uh, yeah. Same here." Not really; the Amazon didn't take well to people popping out of nowhere, throwing her off kilter as he had. "Sorry I took a swing at you. But, hey, least I know all those lessons taught me something, right?"
"It certainly seems so." He offered another apologetic smile. "I will forgive the swing if you will forgive the startlement? I truly did not expect anyone here at this time."
Lil nodded once, sending her ponytail bouncing. "Works for me. I wasn't expecting anyone here, either. Maybe a couple of Uni students but they've been few and far between."
"We do have some", he said with a nod in return. "But I would guess they are studying. Or possibly sleeping, in one or two cases."
"Sleeping." It was what she would be doing if she was in the middle of a month long break from classes. Lots of sleeping and taking it easy - which is what she was doing anyway considering her was unemployed and hadn't started her training yet. "A couple have been in but I think they're around later in the day."
"Or very early in the morning. You would be surprised how many we have who get up before first light for runs and the like."
He had a point. However, Lil was definitely not a morning person and had no desire to wake up with the sun just to see how many other people did. "Not me. I like to handle weights and the machines when I'm actually awake."
"More sensible than the alternative", he said with a grin. "Especially if your powers include super-strength."
"Exactly," Lil agreed. Accidentally slipping and letting a free weight fly in a crowded gym would not turn out to be a good thing for anyone involved.
"...and here I am distracting you from your work-out", he realized. "Please, do not let me stop you."
The bag-less shoulder rose and fell. "S'alright," the Amazon said with a small smile, her body finally relaxing fully. "Not in a rush or anything to go anywhere. You didn't hold me up."
"Likewise." Kurt smiled. "I like to keep my skills sharp, but I have nowhere else pressing to be this afternoon. Do you mind using the gym with others here?"
Lil shook her head and gestured over to the machine. "I'm good with sharing it you are. Just promise me you won't do your little disappearing reappearing trick and scare me outta my head while we do."
"That I can promise. I was being lazy, in any case."
Brushing a few loose strands from out of her face, the blonde couldn't help but roll her eyes as she started over toward the elliptical, still smiling softly. "Well then, better kick it into gear."
