Callie stops by Julian's room for a favor and gets her belated Christmas present.

Knock. Knock. Knock. Callie tapped on the door to the suite three times, hoping that the person she was searching for was there and not off doing who knows what. If they were, well she guessed she'd just have to try someone else. It wasn't that big a deal, she thought as she waited patiently in the hall. Okay. That's a lie. In her mind it was a very big deal, one she rather liked to be taken care of sooner rather than later.

She sighed. Maybe they weren't in. It was Sunday after all.

Julian had just sat down at his desk to start all of his assignments for the weekend when he heard the knock. While it was slightly annoying, whoever was on the other side would be yet another excuse to delay starting the mountain of assignments waiting in his room. He opened the door all the way, keeping his enjoyment at seeing Callie to himself as he smiled politely, "Callie, I heard you'd made it back. It's..." he stopped, giving her an appraising look, noting the exhaustion on her face. "Are you alright? You look like you haven't slept in a week."

"Hey Julian," she said. While she tried to keep her tone as light and bright as it normally was, her exhaustion even more apparent now that she opened her mouth. She shrugged off the comment about not sleeping. She had slept plenty. She slept on the ride back to New York, as well as most of Friday and Saturday. But it wasn't quality sleep, which probably presented a problem. "Sorry to bother you like this, but I was hoping to see if you had notes from Literature class I could borrow? I know the book is annotated and all, but sometimes teachers or students say things..."

"You mean Mister Beaubier's class about Fairy Tales?" He wanted to press the issue, but she didn't seem to want to talk about it. "I'm sorry, Callie, but I'm not much of a note taker. You're welcome to what I do have though." Julian motioned her to come inside.

Callie smiled as she entered the suite. Well some notes were better than no notes at all she supposed. "Thanks. So how was Christmas here? Did you guys do anything fun?"

"Mostly just hung around, Amara made dinner...it was really good. Speaking of, I've got something else for you too." Julian led the way into the bedroom and grabbed the tattered spiral bound notebook from his desk. Pages flew by in a blur as he tried to find the few pages of notes and doodles he'd scribbled during class. He stopped, finding a couple sentences on the Grimm brothers and a doodle of himself saving a damsel in distress- all crudely done, but still identifiable by the labels he'd thought necessary to attach to everything in the sketch. "Um, here," he said, handing over the notebook and trying his best to not let his cheeks match Callie's skin tone.

Well at least there were labels, that was something, even if they were all in one notebook. It was much less organized than her notes, but they would do the job. "I didn't know you drew," she commented as she flipped through the pages. Her brow furrowed as she tried to read what was written; it was messy, but not completely indecipherable. "They're good. The drawings I mean." At least better than her's by any standard. "And you didn't have to get me anything."

Julian shook his head, ignoring her praise about the doodles and heading to his closet. "Don't be ridiculous, it's nothing really. I got everyone a Christmas present, you just snuck off before I could give it to you." And before I bought it, Julian thought, grimacing inwardly for a moment as he shuffled through a few bags in his closet. It took a little while to find what he was looking for before he turned around, a small green bag in his hand with an expertly tied ribbon keeping the handles together. "Here, hope you like it."

While he went off to search, she took the time to begin reading through his notes. Was that an "l" or an "h", Callie wondered as she squinted at the handwriting. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea, but then again just giving it a brief glance over there were some very insightful comments. She would definitely keep them in mind for when she reread the stories. Her trail of concentration was broken however when a small bag was thrust into her personal circle and Julian announced it as her present. "Oh. Thank you Julian." Her face lit up as possession passed from him to her. "I'm sure I'll love it. Should I open it now or wait?"

"That's up to you, it's yours," he wasn't entirely certain that she'd like it, though he hoped she would. "Are the notes helpful?" Julian casually slipped his hands into his pockets, wondering if she would open her gift or pass out on his floor.

"Ummmmm" her eyes flicked between the bag and Julian, trying to decide what to do. "I guess I'll open it now?" She dropped the papers she was holding gently on the bed before carefully untying the ribbon and taking a peek inside. The shapes of the cookie cutters that lay therein were a little late for use now, considering that the holiday season was officially over, but they would come in handy later this year. "I love them. Thank you." Gingerly, so as not to bump any of her bruises, she hugged Julian to show her appreciation.

A little surprised, it took a moment before Julian returned the gesture, which was by that time nearly over- prolonging the hug a little longer than it should have been given the occasion. Finally letting go, Julian smiled and put his hands back in his pockets, "I'm glad you like them. I figured you could use them to make me some more of those amazing cookies," he winked.

Audible sigh. "I probably won't have time again until next Christmas with the way everything is going. School and all that. But I promise I'll use them." Callie reached for the notes and held them aloft, as if to illustrate a point. "Speaking of, I should go and copy these down so I can return them quickly. Thank you so much."

"Don't worry about it, just hold onto them until class tomorrow; I've got most of that stuff in my head already anyway." Julian smiled and gave Callie an appraising look, wondering again about the source of her exhaustion "Do you want to talk about it?"

"Later. I promise." Or when you translated it from girl code meant that she really didn't feel like talking about it. Callie headed for the door, calling over her shoulder: "I'll return it tomorrow. See you then!"
