Backdated to the 15th. Marie-Ange comes over to Doug's apartment, very cranky about Jubilee's post and general snooping.

Doug's IM indicated that he was still awake and online and so Marie-Ange didn't hesitate in walking down the stairs to his apartment and letting herself in. She didn't even wait for a greeting, just dropped onto his sofa and covered her face with one of the throw pillows and let out a aggravated sounding noise. When that didn't make her feel any better, she tossed the pillow into the floor and let her arm drop over her face. "Not only am I going to kill Jubilee, I am going to do so slowly and painfully and let Manuel watch. And I may sell her skin to a handbag designer, I have not decided yet. She...she snooped on us!"

The pillow was retrieved from the floor and Marie-Ange sat up long enough to shove it under her head and drop her weight onto it. "She listened in when I was telling you about what I had seen for Manuel and took it upon herself to act on it without saying anything to me and I know she is not going to understand why I am angry!" She let out another frustrated noise and looked over at Doug. "Also could you answer a question for me now that I am thinking about it?"

This had the likelihood of ending spectacularly badly for somebody, most likely Jubilee. Doug looked up from his laptop where he'd been conversing via email with Manuel. He rather suspected from Marie-Ange's frustration that she'd also had an email exchange with the Spaniard, and that hers hadn't been as pleasant.

It wasn't that difficult to understand Marie-Ange's frustration about someone acting on her precognitive visions without talking to her. He was pretty sure that the last time that had happened, he'd been shot. His hand twitched almost imperceptibly towards his sternum in remembrance, and then he set his laptop aside. "Can I watch as well?" Doug was just a bit miffed by Jubilee's gossipmongering. "And sure. What did you want to know?"

"When did you get a gun?" Marie-Ange asked bluntly. There was no reason to try to talk around the subject, it would have been just as clear to Doug no matter what she said. "Also, why did you get one? I thought that you were not comfortable with them?" She had a theory, of sorts, because it was clear that Doug had not only gotten the
gun, but was more than proficient with it, from what little she saw before they retreated.

"A month or two ago?" Doug didn't remember exactly when, just that it had been since the events of 'Day Zero'. "I asked Bishop to teach me." As for the why... "When Emma locked away all those pieces of me in Manhattan, one of the things that was put away was fear. All my memories are still there, it's just that the visceral emotional connections aren't there."

Marie-Ange remained prone on the sofa, obviously upset, lines of tension in her arms and neck and even in the way she lay still. "Just that fear?" What would happen when it came back, she wondered? Would it come back? What would he do then? "Are you... okay?" It was funny how much you could put into one word. Okay or "having nightmares" or "worried about it" or "needing to talk about it" all in one four-letter word.

"Not just that one." It was a strange dichotomy, having the intellectual knowledge of the fears that Emma had locked away, but lacking the emotional connection to those fears. Doug was used to Marie-Ange's ability to cram several different questions into one, and he shrugged. "I'm doing all right, considering." Considering he should have been dead twice over at this rate.

If it had been six months previous, Marie-Ange might have pressed for more of an answer, but now, to get even that much of an answer out of Doug was more than she'd really expected. "Good. Are you very busy right now? I would maybe like to go out for a midnight snack because I think if I do not leave the building I am going to throw Jubilee off the roof onto a parked car."

"Can I help?" Doug asked with a note of frustration in his voice. "Or sell tickets?" He was none too impressed with Jubilee's antics lately. He wasn't always impressed with Jubilee, but her slightly gossipy note about Manuel and Adrienne Frost had caused Doug to roll his eyes.

"I think even as angry as I am, killing a co-worker is not on." Even if Marie-Ange sort of wanted to do bad painful things to Jubilee. "Do you have any of those horrible peppers? We could spice all of her food. Except then I think she might break back into your apartment and eat yours." And since Doug's kitchen was the source of most of Marie-Ange's meals that were not eaten out, that was not a good idea either.

Doug grunted, grudgingly conceding Marie-Ange's point. "Let me get my keys."
