Manuel & Angelo
Feb. 7th, 2009 03:22 pmA cool meeting and exchange of information concerning Valentia and Spain.
"~I will have to call you back~" he spoke in Spanish before snapping the cell closed and casting Angelo a very patient look from his open door suite. It was obvious there was no love lost between them and he tolerated what Angelo represented to Amanda, however, he was not always in an inviting mood and did nothing to give out an invitation into his and Kyle's suite. Instead, to prevent the cat from getting out, Manuel stepped out into the hallway, closing the door quickly.
"I assume your trip went well?"
"Relaxin' an' productive both", Angelo answered calmly, refusing to rise to the bait. "I've got some news for you."
"Yes? And that would be?" he asked, leaning on his cane. There was no reason to wait for either of them to be civil. This was as good as it was going to get.
"Valentia's death certificate was your stepmother's work", Angelo told him. "She was tryin' to protect her, but accordin' to the old man I talked to, she didn't figure on her only protection bein' havin' Valentia around."
"The death certificate was made for the wrong person I see." Manuel had no love for his father's choice in younger women. "Who was the old man?" he asked. "How do you know this information is accurate?"
"He worked for your father. His name was Fernando, an' he asked to be remembered to you. I didn't see any reason to suspect it wasn't accurate." He wasn't smiling. "An' don't worry, Adoracion got her own death certificate soon enough."
He was able to put a face to the name and his eyes flickered briefly at the recongnition before he nodded. "Yes, however it is not undeserving. She knew what she was getting into. It was not as though she made her choice blindly, only poorly."
"She didn't know enough about politics to know sendin' Valentia somewhere safe would get her killed", Angelo pointed out flatly. "She was just a naive kid, Manuel, an' I'd bet that's why your father chose her. Didn't strike me as the kind of man who'd want his wife to be a challenge."
"A smart wife can give you an advantage that a stupid one cannot," he said very cruelly. "Did you retrieve any papers or shall I discuss that part with Amanda?"
"We got copies of her birth and death certificates", was the cool response, and Angelo held out the folder in his hand. "You'll have to talk to Amanda or Snow Valley about gettin' the death certificate revoked, or whatever you're goin' to do about it."
"I'll speak to her later," Manuel took the papers and turned them over, opening them up. He glanced over the document and switched to the next, doing the same. "Thank you," he replied, folding them up and placed his hand on the door knob. "If there is nothing else to address further concerning Valentia, you will have to excuse me."
"That was it." Angelo shrugged and turned away. "Have a nice day, Manuel."
Yes, I will, Manuel thought as he closed the door and flipped open his phone to make another call.
