Callie delivers a Valentine's Day present to Lil.

It was a quiet start to the day. Lil was sprawled on the couch and in her hand, a sight that would shock her roommate should the other girl witness it - a book. The only one the Amazon owned, Lil was carefully turning the pages of the worn novel with a wistful smile on her lips. Yes, the memories that came with it were bittersweet - especially on that day - but even with what was blossoming between her and Bishop, she couldn't help but spend a few hours lost in her past. Absently, she swung her wedding ring on the end of the green, organza ribbon as she read but sudden knock almost had her slinging it across the room. Amara had taken her key and the Canadian wasn't expecting anyone... Stuffing the twisted band into her pocket, Lil slid off the sofa and barefoot made her way to the door to yank it open.

"Um hi Lil," Callie's voice was small as she looked up at the woman towered over her by a good six inches. It was still weird having someone who was that much taller than she, but the younger girl was adjusting. "I hope I'm not disturbing you or anything. I just wanted to come by and drop this off for you." From behind her back there appeared a cookie, shaped and neatly decorated like a yellow flower. A small chocolate bumble bee accompanied it, their lollipop sticks tied together with twine. "To say thank you, and Happy Valentine's Day?"

Lil reached out to take the little gift with a soft smile, obviously surprised and touched by the little gesture. "Um. Thanks - I mean, thank you, Callie. And you're welcome." Tossing her ponytail, Lil gestured behind her. "You weren't interrupting so you wanna come in? I've got soft drinks and iced tea..." Little acts of kindness still threw her, especially coming from the mansion's younger population.

"Um, okay, sure. Thanks!"

"It's supposed be a heartleaf arnica," Callie started to explain as she stepped in, a mixture of pride and disappointment in her voice. "They're native in Canada, but I don't think I got the yellow quite right. It'll still taste delicious. I promise." She smiled broadly; she had snuck a cookie or two while making them just to make sure that they weren't poisonous. Her eyes caught the site of a worn book on the couch. "Oh were you reading?" Even though Lil had invited her in, Callie felt a little guilty at possibly disturbing the woman.

"I'll take your word for it," Lil laughed, tossing her ponytail back over her shoulder as she made her way into the kitchen area to fetch two glasses. Putting the sweets on the table, she opened the fridge and was glad the door was blocking the view of her face from the girl as she winced. "Yeah. Nothing important," the Amazon said, fighting to keep the flash of pain from her voice. "You want cola or iced tea? And what about ice?"

"Um do you have any water?" Callie fluttered toward the kitchen area, it was awkward to just stand in someone's room, at least this way she didn't feel like she was invading Lil's privacy too much. "No ice. Please." She leaned against the table, gazing on the decorated cookie and wrinkling her nose. "Oh! And the bumble bee is dark chocolate, but if you prefer white or milk or carob I made some of those too. You can pick your poison."

"Dark chocolate's fine," she assured her, pulling a pitcher of water out as she did. Two glasses were filled and Lil gestured to a seat at the little table she and Amara used for eating. "Sit if you wanna." The pitcher was put to the side and the giantess plopped down in the other chair. "So, sushi was fun wasn't it?"

Taking care not to scrape the chair's legs against the floor, Callie pulled it out and slowly took a seat. "Thank you." She gratefully accepted the glass of water and took a long drink before setting it on the table and speaking once more. "I love sushi. And you guys like totally deserved it." She tipped the cup, watching the water travel up the sides as she rocked it back and forth. "But ya. What about you?"

"I enjoyed it. You runts are half as bad as I thought you'd be," she joked, watching Callie watch the water in her glass. "Fun night and everyone seemed to coping pretty well." For the most part, at least. There were some she had her concerns about but nothing dire.

"I ate so much food, I'm surprised I didn't grow fins and swim away." Callie giggled, still tipping her water. "Imagine if that was your mutation? Like being a fish with gills and stuff. But ya. It was fun. Sorry us 'runts' had to spoil it for you.

Lil rolled her eyes. "You didn't ruin it. I had fun. While I enjoy Amara, Zanne and Jean-Paul, you ankle biters are amusing. Plus, I had to make sure you all were okay. I've had experience with weird sh-stuff like that before and know it screws with your head big time."

The glass stopped moving. Callie looked up and stared at Lil, tilting her head to one side, then the other. "I was joking... About us ruining it for you?" She laughed. "I guess I don't have a future as a comedian."

"It's okay, kid. You're talking to a meathead blonde; as tall as I am, things fly over my head all the time. Humor included." She offered the pink girl another smile.

"Oh ya, I get like that all the time. Maybe we should just wear taller shoes?"

Lil chuckled and nodded. "Exactly. And being tall already, those tall shoes? They make your legs seem longer and make your ass look great which is definitely a nice side effect.
