Back in February, Amara returned the dress she borrowed from Adrienne for the night out at Silver and ends up with another loan and a little advice.

So, miracles had occurred, and Amara had actually managed to pick out a dress from the Closet that both she and Lil were happy for her to wear. While it had been a little lower cut than Amara would usually wear (... and a lot brighter), it was not nearly as short as Lil had hoped and Amara had dreaded. She was on her way to return it now - she'd had it drycleaned beforehand, and had negotiated the New York streets with her bag of books over one shoulder and the dress in it's bag in the other hand. She was ridiculously relieved to arrive at Adrienne's office, taking a seat while an assistant's assistant or someone like that let Adrienne know she was here.

Adrienne appreciated the fact that Amara had brought the dress back herself rather than returning it to Adrienne at the school and expecting Adrienne to bring it back to the office. She gave the girl a pleased smile when Amara arrived and rose from her desk to offer the young woman her hand. "Welcome back. Let's head over to the Closet. I didn't see you at Silver opening night- you did go, yes?" she questioned, knowing that the dress had been borrowed for that purpose.

It definitely wouldn't have occured to Amara not to bring it back into New York herself - if it had been borrowed from Adrienne's personal closet, that's one thing, but since she'd borrowed the dress from her work, that was where she'd return it to. She smiled back to Adrienne, shaking her hand. "Thanks. And yes, I did go. I'm just not very good in crowds." She looked a little bit sheepish. She'd ended spending a lot of the night sort of hiding out, it's possible her going had been a bad idea. But at least she'd tried, right?

Pushing the button for the elevator, Adrienne raised an eyebrow. "Well, next time you want to avoid a crowd, you might try somewhere other than a club," she pointed out. Once off the elevator, she led the way to the Closet, where a seamstress was adjusting the waist on a pair of trousers worn by a shirtless male model. "You didn't enjoy yourself at Silver, then?" she asked Amara, sauntering past the seamstress and the model to return Amara's dress to its place on a rack.

"I know," she said, the sheepish expression still on her face. "But Lil's been on my case recently about not enjoying life enough, so I thought I'd try it out. And I'm trying not to let my fears hold me..." Amara trailed off, her attention momentarily distracted by the shirtless guy before she blushed and jerked her eyes away. "Well, I didn't not enjoy myself. I just don't think nightclubs are really the place for me." But at least she knows that from experience now.

Amara's blush and obvious discomfort had Adrienne grinning to herself. "Well, many of your roommate's enjoyments are not to everyone's tastes, if I may say so." She pulled out another dress absently, as if it was a natural reaction to being in the closet that required no thought whatsoever. Enter Closet, pick out clothes for person you brought with you. And yourself. Repeat. "Well, your taste in clothing isn't entirely horrible," she mused, replacing the dress with a frown and picking up another, "you should definitely show yourself off somewhere. What sort of places do you enjoy going?" She held the piece up to Amara and frowned again, then returned it to the rack.

"Well, no." Amara grinned a little bit. "But she's a little bit hard to say no to." At least for Amara, she much prefers getting along with people than not. She looked a little confused at Adrienne pulling out more clothes, she just wanted to return the dress she had! "Um, well I go out for lunch with my friends a lot? And to museums and everything." Was that boring? Amara didn't think it was boring at all, but she could imagine that other people would find it boring.

"Ladies who lunch," Adrienne muttered, and went to a different rack. "I have some things that will be perfect for museums and lunches in the city..."

"What?" Amara blinked a couple of times, looking baffled at Adrienne. "Oh, you really don't need to do this, really." That's not why she came to return the dress!

"I enjoy doing 'this,'" Adrienne reminded her. "Before I became a teacher I used to do this full time; I miss it sometimes and have to get my urge to dress people out any way I can," she said with a half smirk. "Besides, they're only loans. A lot of the time the models keep the clothes the designers give them to model, but sometimes they aren't to the model's taste so they end up here and just sit around wasting space. I like loaning them out. Here, try this on," she ordered, handing Amara a pink Michael Kors pencil skirt.

Amara chuckled at that, taking the skirt from her and looking down at it. It was a very nice skirt! And certainly something she could see herself wearing. "Oh, well, thank you." Most of Amara's wardrobe consisted of clothes sourced at thrift stores, only because she didn't have all that much money to throw around. She glanced around, looking for a changing room. "Is there somewhere where I can change?"

"You can't just change here?" Adrienne asked, raising an eyebrow in apparent confusion. "Don't mind Jon, he's gay anyway." She waved off the shirtless male model. There was a room to change at the back, but it would be fun to watch the young woman squirm or blush or maybe do both.

Amara will do both. Or at least her eyes will go wide and her cheeks a little pink as she glanced nervously around the room. "Oh, uh, well, I guess so..." Amara didn't really make a move to start changing yet, she wasn't entirely sure how to go about this. Changing in front of people was one thing, changing in front of people who made their living from looking good? Awkward!

Laughing, Adrienne made a half-turn and waved towards the back of the room. "There's a changing room back there. I'll stand guard outside the room to keep you safe from the gay men," she smirked.

Amara flushed, flashing a grateful smile to Adrienne. "Oh, thank you. That's very much appreciated." She scooted off to the changing room with the skirt in hand, making sure not to glance around at anyone. Dear Lord.
