Manuel and Callie: Another Request
Mar. 20th, 2009 07:02 pmCallie is needed to babysit once more, and ends up teaching Manuel how to cook.
Manuel snapped his cellphone closed and walked across the room, in front of the TV with a phone book in hand. He dropped it on the coffee table and snapped his sister's attention to him before settling into the seat. Annoyed, she shifted her attention back to the TV and began to faintly chew on the remote. He was ordering tonight and opened the phone book to seek out something to order in.
"Manuel, Valentia," Callie called out as she poked her head in the suite, careful not to let Kyle's cat escape. "It's Callie."
"Come in Callie," Manuel greeted her, looking up briefly from where he sat. Valentia gestured a hello in sign language and turned back to the TV, all attention on the show. With an index finger pressed into the book, he clutched the phone, gesturing for her to come stand over him. "We are ordering tonight. What do you feel like?"
As Callie entered she signed her hello in return to Valentia's, then shook her head knowingly as the little girl turned her attention back to the television. Now that the weather was beginning to get warmer, Callie made a vow that she would take Valentia outside to play a bit more. It would probably be good for the young Spaniard to get away from the television and breathe some fresh air. "Oh I'm fine with anything," she assured Manuel as she crossed over to where he stood, leaning on the back of the couch. "You said you wanted to talk to me about something?"
"Mmm, " he nodded faintly, scrolling through the names, then snapped to attention. "Yes, I do. I apologize for the short notice, however, would you be able to babysit Saturday morning? I do not think I will be long and it is in the mansion. I will not be far."
"Saturday morning," she repeated. Those were usually the one day she liked to lie in a bit, but she could sacrifice that. It wasn't that important really. "That's not an issue. I would love to, of course."
"It would not be early, I assure you. I may only be gone awhile and if you need anything, you may call my cell. I will come immediately."
Callie nodded and glanced at Valentia before looking back up at Manuel, giving him a reassuring smile. "Hopefully I won't need to. But if I do, your number is on speed dial. I'll be sure to call you."
"Very good. Now help me pick something. I am feeling rather indecisive today and nothing is appealing to my appetite. I refuse to make anymore freezer/oven... things. There is food and then there is dog food." He tried the stuff in Kyle's freezer and it had immediately taken a one way trip straight into the trash. Never again.
Well if that was the case... "~*Come on Valentia, let's go teach your brother how to make pizza!*~"
Manuel opened his mouth to argue that it would have been much faster to order, but his sister snapped her head away from the TV and immediately bounced off the couch, abandoning her show at the mention of pizza.
"Fine." Manuel shut the book and surrendered easily. At least someone was excited.
