Tabitha and Catseye
Mar. 21st, 2009 06:46 pmCatseye pays a visit to the library after being invited to accompany Nathan to Morocco and gets some help from Tabitha in picking out books.
Upon hearing that Nathan was going to take her to Morocco, Catseye had been
curious to learn more about the place, and the library seemed as good a
place as any to do that. She was hoping to take out books and get people to
read them to her, rather than using another source like the internet and
reading up on the country herself. Catseye liked books and had been to the
library before, but she wasn't sure what sort of book it was she would need,
so she went to the help desk with the intention of asking Tabitha.
The librarian looked up with a glad smile. "Catseye! How are you, you
beautiful purple feline-type?" Her enthusiasm may have been a bit over the
top, but it was rather nice to have a pleasant person in the library for a
change.
Catseye beamed at the welcome. "Catseye is VeryGood, BoomBallGirl! Catseye
is looking for a book about Morocco please. Does BoomBallGirl know where the
Morocco books live?"
Tabitha raised both eyebrows. "Morocco?" she repeated. "What do you want to
know about Morocco?" She skirted out from behind the desk and gestured for
Catseye to follow her.
The catgirl followed Tabitha happily. "Catseye wants to know what the
humans eat and what the cats eat and if the humans like cats and what kinds
of mice and birds live there and if there are deer for hunting and forests
and lakes or desert and sand! And Catseye wants to know how far away it is
and if it is cold there and if they like mutants and especially about
Casablanca."
By pure luck, Tabitha was able to follow Catseye's train of conversation by
the skin of her teeth. "Definitely sounds like you need more than one book."
Tabitha reached up to trail her finger along a row of book spines. "Why the
interest in Morocco?"
"That's okay, Catseye likes books! Especially when someone reads to her,"
she assured Tabitha. More than one book wouldn't be a problem. "Catseye is
interested because Catseye is going to Morocco with MisterNathanSoftHands
and BigHairGirl. It is for working." She sniffed at the book spines and
pulled out a history book on the country. "Has BoomBallGirl ever gone?"
Tabitha had to think a bit before answering. "No, can't say as I have. Was
in Afghanistan a few years ago, but that was an entirely different ball of
wax." She pulled a few books down from the shelf. "We have Culture and
Customs of Morocco, Morocco, Enchantment of the World, Morocco
in Pictures, and maybe you want a look at the map? We have one of those
Rough series." She stacked the books in her arm. Mentally, she was
still stuck on BigHairGirl.
Catseye let out a happy cat-like noise. "Catseye likes pictures," she nodded
in response to the Morocco in Pictures book. "And maps. Maps are good
for playing Chase, especially in new places! How is Morocco like a ball of
wax?" she asked, confused.
The librarian grinned. "Let's go find a table and we can figure out if you want to take all of them. And I will attempt to explain the fine art of idioms."
