Julian and Catseye - Sunday afternoon
Mar. 29th, 2009 01:41 pmCatseye accompanies Julian to the mall and expresses more interest in driving.
The garage was a fun place for playing. There were usually shinythings lying around that she could play with, and lots of obstacles to hide behind while stalking shinythings or people. Today no one was around so she was playing with a shiny round thing, some kind of plug or cap, batting it to far corners of the garage and then stalking it from behind tires and other pieces of machinery in the garage. Giving it an energetic swat, Catseye watched it sail across the floor and hit Julian's shoe. "Mrrt?" she called out, bounding over to him happily. She hadn't even seen him there.
"Hey, Catseye," he knelt down and scratched behind her ears- knowing full well that she was actually a human in cat form, but knowing that Angel probably wouldn't mind since the purring purple feline wasn't attracted to Julian and the feeling was mutual. "What are you doing down here? Hunting mice?"
The catgirl rubbed up against his leg and dragged the shinyroundthing to Julian with a claw, batting it between her two front paws a little before going back to being skritched.
Julian put the car keys in his pocket and reached down with his freehand to pick up a well polished cap to something. He flipped it over once, inspecting it for any sort of chemicals before stopping his fingers and holding the cap out to Catseye. Part of him wished he could levitate the tiny object across the room or just above her reach, but in luie of that he'd just have to make do. "Good luck, Cat," he said as he flicked the object into one of the dark corners, hearing it bounce against the concrete.
The carkeys were much more fun than the shinyroundthing, and Catseye went up on her hind legs, pawing the pocket where he'd placed them. "Mrrrrrrrrrrrrow?"
"Huh?" his hand went back to scratching her head as he reached across himself for the keys, "You trying to get at these?" He jingled the keys just out of her reach.
Catseye took a leap at the keys, then another and another, interested to see who would get tired first.
Time after time Julian pulled the keys out of reach, then with a smile he let her catch them- a brief tug of war ensued. Finally, after enough time had passed, he pulled them away with a slight tug and stood up. "Gotta run, Cat, the mall awaits," he started to walk away.
Ooo, the mall! Catseye shifted to girlform. "Can Catseye come to the mall? But ActorBoy cannot take OneEye's car, because it will be punishment and detention," she warned him, the memory of her trip with Cammie still fresh in her mind.
'OneEye...? Oh! Scott,' it had taken him a moment to figure out what she meant, but was quickly up to speed. "Why would we take Scott's car?" he jingled the keys, "I signed one out. You want to come with? Hop in." He grinned and clicked the button to unlock the car- making it beep behind him.
"Catseye wants to come yesyesyes!" she agreed, and hopped in the passenger seat. "Can Catseye put the keys in the car and make it go vroom? Catseye wants to learn all about cars and learn how to drive and Catseye knows the keys make the car move and also make the doors open just like peoples doors in their rooms."
"Um, sure, but that's not quite how it works," he handed her the keys and waited for her to turn over the ignition, lightly pressing on the gas petal as she did. The car roared to life and after a quick check of the mirrors, they were pulling out of the garage and rolling down the driveway. "Why do you want to learn to drive, Cats?"
She tilted her head towards him in confusion. "Because it is what humans do? And Catseye is a cat sometimes but sometimes Catseye is a human and humans drive so Catseye wants to drive! Then Catseye could go see BigBrother anytime or her friends in the BusyTown. Why did ActorBoy learn to drive?" she challenged curiously.
Julian chuckled, "Good point I suppose- I learned to drive so I could get away from my parents, but mostly because it's just the way things go when you're fifteen. Have you been out driving with anyone yet?" He thought about Nathan trying to teach Catseye how to drive and had to do everything in his power to keep from laughing himself into a ditch- aside from a smile, no one would have been able to tell his sides were splitting.
"No Catseye asked BlackBloodGirl many questions about driving and Catseye asked ShinyBitsBoy but Catseye has not been the driver yet. Would ActorBoy let Catseye drive?"
"Uhh..." was all Julian could seem to say for a moment, then he nodded- figuring that he'd tempted fate plenty of times this week by trying to learn to fly. "Yeah, we'll find an empty parking lot and you can practice there. I don't think we're supposed to do that- but can't hurt to let you have a spin in the middle of no where."
Catseye frowned. She wanted to drive, but after the trouble she'd gotten into earlier over helping Cammie take Scott's car, the purple-haired girl was a little wary of doing something she wasn't supposed to. Not about getting into trouble herself, but about getting Julian into trouble. It had made her feel sad that Cammie had gotten into trouble over something that had been her idea, and she didn't want Julian to face the same fate. "If ActorBoy thinks we're not supposed to then it is okay," she amended. "Catseye will ask OneEye first so that ActorBoy does not get into punishment. Catseye does not want her friend to get into punishment. Can ActorBoy show Catseye how to drive but Catseye will not drive herself?"
'It's only illegal if you get caught...didn't you get in trouble for that once,' Julian thought to himself. "It'll be fine, Catseye- as long as you don't crash the car I mean." They continued to drive toward town, which wasn't too far away. "Besides, it's not like I haven't been in trouble before."
She leaned over in her seat and nuzzled Julian's cheek. "But not trouble with Catseye. Catseye does not want ActorBoy to get into trouble because of Catseye. Catseye will just watch for now and after Catseye asks then ActorBoy can help Catseye? And Catseye can buy ActorBoy a hamburger at the mall?"
The car swerved slightly when she nuzzled him, but not enough to put them in danger. "Um, yeah- that sounds great, Catseye. First thing you should know is that you need to wear a seat belt." 'How would Angel react if she saw this?' he wondered, with a hue of blush filling his cheeks.
