Jay and Kurt practice in the gym and talk a little gossip.

Standing in the gym, Jay backed up a few paces with an assortment of empty bottles in front of him. His wings were not not, retracted into his back long before Kurt came in and crouching down, he selected two bottles, tossing one to Kurt. "Ah ain't so good with back and forth stuff now. Jen n' Ah keep droppin' em and Ah think it's cause of me."

"You would do better to practise with her", Kurt said mildly, catching the bottle. "Every partnership will work slightly differently, because of the people in it... but of course I will help you work on it."

"That means we gotta hang out and Ah dunno if Ah could stand her all day then all night," he said, spinning a bottle against the ball of his palm before catching it. He tossed it to Kurt with a spin, knowing Kurt would catch it.

He did, quite easily, then looked back at Jay. "You will need a measure of trust to do this successfully. Will it not be harder with someone you do not like?"

"It ain't that Ah don't like her. She just talks alot, all day long. Jen ain't that good at concentratin' unless we're right there on the floor and gettin' her to practice... well, she's hard to commit to a time. Girl's gotta social life like no other," he said, tossing a nod for Kurt to throw it back. "Plus, Ah think Ah wanna try flare competitions. See if Ah'm any good or not." He liked doing it and it would get him out more.

"You should", Kurt said encouragingly, tossing the bottle back to him. "Would you do it solo, or the two of you?"

"Solo Ah reckon. Ah need to start movin' forward so Ah figured Ah could start with somethin' Ah like." He caught the bottle and using three, he started a sequence with kurt while they spoke. "Ah need to do some more fancy things, make me worth watchin', plus tips come in like crazy just to see us perform again at Silver, so--" he shrugged. "Seems like a start, huh?"

"Definitely a start." Most of his focus was on the routine, but he had enough spare attention for the conversation. "I am glad to see you getting out more again."

"Yeah," Jay replied, if only to be agreeable. "Ah should probably go home sometime, see the kids and mama, but that's like shakin' up a pop can and openin' it right after. You know how family is. Ah need to be in some place good before Ah go and see 'em." His focus was mechanical and he had no problem holding the conversation while he tossed the bottles. It washarder in the bar when his attention was pulled four different directions. "Never see you at Silver much. Y'all go to Harry's instead?"

"Mostly", Kurt agreed cheerfully. "Nightclubs in general are not my places of choice. I prefer somewhere a little quieter."

"Did ya go to the party for Jean-Paul? How was that cause Ah didn't go. Ah'm guessin' everyone was tanked after the kids went off."

Kurt snorted. "I stopped in briefly to say happy birthday, yes. Nathan arranged something involving Jake popping out of a cake."

"Don't know the guy very well, but everyone else seems to. He a thing for Jean-Paul?"

"They are together, I believe, yes. I am not sure if you were here when Jake was last at the mansion - he was the guidance counsellor at the school for a time."

"Yeah Ah heard he was somethin' like that. Ah prolly left before he came or somethin'. Nice to know the ol' man is finally gettin' laid," he chuckled with a hiss.
