Scott appears at Amara's door to sound her about about accompanying the team on a more large-scale mission than anything she's encountered thus far as a trainee.

The door to Amara's suite was open; Scott paused just outside, balancing carefully on his crutches as he considered things. But no, it made sense, he told himself. He just needed to make sure she was up for it. "Amara?" he called. "You in there?"

She was, in fact. Lying on the couch, with a ridiculously large book in her lap. Just a little relaxing read, everyone read the Iliad just for the hell of it, right? At least Amara did. She glanced up when her name was called, smiling when she recognosed the voice. "Hey Scott! Please, come in." She closed over her book, getting up off the couch so she could go over and welcome him in properly.

"Hope I'm not interrupting anything," Scott said, looking around hopefully for a chair. Amara directed him to one, and he sat down, arranging his leg carefully before he went on. "I was hoping to bend your ear about team-related matters for a few minutes."

"No no, not at all. Achilles and his hissy fit will always be there later on." She smiled, settling into her own seat after helping Scott. Her smile these days wasn't quite as bright as it used to be, but it was something she was working on. "And of course! What did you want to talk about?"

"I wanted to see how you were doing," he said, "after your first mission." Well, more to it than that, obviously, but that wasn't a bad place to start. "I know you filled out a report along with everyone else, but I have this thing about getting it from the horse's mouth when it comes to our trainees."

"Oh, I'm fine." She may be exaggerating a little bit there, but she didn't really know how to bring up what had been on her mind recently - or if she wanted to. "I do still have a lot to learn when it comes to fighting with my powers though, especially away from the earth."

Scott nodded. "I'd wondered about that," he said, then cracked a brief smile. "At least you weren't in space. We were all a little at sea - pardon the pun - that time. But," he went on, "I think you acquitted yourself well, all in all."

Amara chuckled a little at that. "I can't imagine I'd be particularly pleasant to be around in space, I get sick enough flying as it is." She smiled at Scott's last comment. "Thank you -- I'm glad we were able to rescue the crew, and I hope they're able to continue their work."

"Mmm," Scott said, instead of making a comment about his father. See, Jean, I can learn. "You mentioned feeling like you needed to learn more when it comes to fighting with your powers - would you object to doing that in the course of a little more field experience in a day or two?"

"Oh no--" She cut herself out, stopping herself short and thinking for a moment. "What did you have in mind?" Asking questions before you just throw yourself into things could possibly be a good idea.

"We've been asked to help out with a situation in Hungary," Scott said. "You'll hear the specifics of it at the briefing, but it relates to a group we've encountered once before - have you read the file about the Preservers?"

Amara paused before replying, thinking through back over all the readings she'd done, and then nodded slowly. "Yes, I think I have. They're a mutant supremcist group, or were? I think I remember the bombings."

"We've just been told that another branch of the group is planning an attack against a new university program in Budapest, one that's going to be training telepaths. The Hungarians are asking for our help, and, well..." He shrugged. "It's an unusual mission by our standards. We have time to prepare, good intelligence, support on the ground... it might be a good experience for you."

She nodded in reply. "Oh wow, really?" She was more curious about the university program than the mission, how interesting! "I'd love to be involved. Thank you."

"I sort of figured that would be your answer," Scott said, "but I just wanted to ask. You're still fairly new at this, and I didn't want to overload you."

Amara just smiled at that. "Well, as long as you're still happy to have me along, I don't mind at all! There's only so much I can learn studying the old reports." And if nothing else, Amara appreciated the learning experience.

"Excellent. Hopefully, you'll all be able to round up these terorrists and have a little spare time to actually appreciate the trip." He'd caught the flash of interest at his mention of the Centre. "This Centre for Psionic Arts is really quite something, from the sounds of it," he went on. "Jean's eyes light up when she talks about it. It's meant to teach telepaths how to apply their powers in various types of socially beneficial work. Teaching, the medical field, that sort of thing."

"I hope so! I have not done a lot of travelling at all, it would be nice to see some of the city while we're there." Her experience has pretty much been limited to Nova Roma and New York. "I can understand why she would be excited about it, it sounds like a really amazing program."

"Worth helping to protect, I think. I have a lot of respect for people allowing themselves to be test cases in the eyes of the world," Scott said, then smiled, reaching for his crutches. "Anyhow. Briefing at 19:00 - glad you're on-board. Mind you, I get the fun of hanging around mournfully in the Situation Room..."

"And they're studying to use their gifts in the service of others. I think that's really admirable." It's possible Amara has a bit of a thing in regards to that. "I'm glad you asked me, I'm definitely looking forward to it." Amara stood up, on hand to give Scott a hand, or at the very least, to get the door. "I'm sure there will be other opportunites to see the Centre," she replied with a slightly playful smile. "When it's not under threat of attach and everything."
