Dani brings Jay with her to pick out a prom dress.

Dani had dragged Jay along with her to Adrienne's warehouse of dresses for support, both moral and otherwise. She had seen pictures of so-called "fashionable" dresses and wasn't too impressed. She wouldn't be caught dead in most of them. She'd rather be unfashionable and like what she was wearing than be the height of IT girl and look stupid. Therefore, she had Jay with her. She trusted his opinion. And she didn't know this Adrienne well enough to know if she would understand where Dani was coming from with her fashion sense, or more importantly, her lack thereof.

The front door to the ware house didn't lead to some dimly lit giant space with concrete floors, but to a brightly lit office-like reception area. There were several dressing rooms there and diases for dresses to be fitted, thankfully, Dani was tall enough to rarely need things hemmed shorter. Looking around for a moment, she wondered if Adrienne was somewhere in this area or in the warehouse itself, which she assumed was behind the doors marked "employees only.'

"Hello," Adrienne greeted, emerging from the 'employees only' entrance, smiling at Dani and Jay. "Welcome to the warehouse, free fashion garden of eden, with everything the heart could desire... in the way of formal wear." She smirked playfully. "Did you find the place alright?"

Jay immediately pointed at Dani. "Her, not me," he said, by passing the question of finding the place alright. He was a little put off that he was dragged into this, bitching and moaning the entire way, even though she knew he wouldn't say no. He'd just complain about it.

"GPS got us here just fine," she assured the older woman. "I don't much like shopping and he," she jerked a finger at her blue skinned suitemate, "don't neither, despite him always being the girl in the relationship. So...you got dresses?" this wasn't entirely like shopping, she had reasoned with Jay. This was more like playing dress up, a game she hadn't played much as a child either, but at least this way she wasn't a). buying anything and b). having to do the shopping herself. Adrienne took care of a lot of it for her already.

"I got dresses," Adrienne answered with a bemused smile. She already knew Dani's size and had filled a changing room with some specimens of various colours and styles for the young woman. "Right this way." With a flourish she opened the door to the room. "Did you need anything?" the businesswoman asked Jay. "I have a lot of tuxes and suits, and I believe Monet and Clarice are quite adept at making alterations for mutations."

"No, no," Jay said quickly. "Ah've got mind all rented." From the same place since he started going to Xavier's, this year it was just a few new modifications and he was good. At least with this one, he didn't need to have holes done up in the back to accomediate wings, no, he just needed something with a little more give for the blades inbetween his shoulders. "Y'all just do whatever it is you gotta do. Ah'll be right here, sittin'," and waiting patiently. There was no way he was trying on anything.

"You're no fun," Dani teased, disappearing into a dressing room to start trying dresses on. The first one had so many straps it confused her. And she had forgotten her strapless bra. Oh well, that wasn't a huge problem. "This one is confusing," she stated, taking it off and putting it back on a hanger. She did not require someone to dress her and if the dress was that complicated, she wasn't going to wear it. A minute later she opened the door wearing a short babydoll style green dress. The look on her face said exactly what she thought of herself in it, though at 5'10" she definitely had the legs.

"Men usually aren't fun," Adrienne muttered to Dani, sending Jay a smirk. "Don't go for anything confusing," she advised Dani. "If you can't understand it, you won't be confident wearing it, and the look won't be the same. She scrutinized the dress Dani emerged with. "Not bad. You like it?" She assumed the younger woman liked it well enough since she'd come out wearing it. " Is it the colour you like, or the style, or both?"

"The color's not bad..." she said, looking down at herself. "I feel foolish. I had a baby. I don't need to be wearing baby dresses even in my size. And I feel...exposed," the dress was much shorter than she was used to wearing. Dani wore shorts in the summers and she didn't consider herself a prude, but at the same time, she was raised not to give it away for free either. "I need something longer."

Jay crossed his arms and legs, leaning against a wall and waiting. Watching and waiting, tipping his head back and staring up at the ceiling, wondering how he got talked into this. Even when Dani came out, he was vaguely paying attention but her insecurity drew his attention and he scrutinized her outfit. "Ah think yer just being a prude," he said. "What's wrong with that one?"

If Dani were one for shrieking she would probably have said something like "I'm not a prude!" at Jay. Instead however, she just shot him a glare and went back into the changing room. Stupid boys, "Why did I bring you if you're going to be useless?" she asked Jay through the door. "Doesn't being gay give you fashion whatever?" Go stereotypes.

"It usually does," Adrienne agreed with a smirk. "I know a great many homosexual men who have exquisite taste." She sauntered into the warehouse, leaving the door open so Dani and Jay could follow if they chose to, though she was more than willing to bring her choices back to them at the changing area. After a few moments she pulled a longer dress in a similar colour off one of the racks, this one a straight column with a little flow to the skirt, lacking the volume of the babydoll dress's skirt. Adrienne thought it was much more fitting with Dani's comment about having had a baby, since this one was sophisticated and subtle and seemed much more... mature to the former model's eye than the babydoll.

Taking the dress Adrienne offered, Dani stepped back out again. This one was much better and she felt much more comfortable. She looked very tall in it she thought. "Does it clash with your skin?" she asked, moving barefoot over to Jay. He was her date, sexual preferences aside and clashing would be bad.

"Ah'll go in mah birthday suit and then we'll match, kay?" he said, shaking his head. "Ya look fine in that one. Makes you look taller," he said, echoing her thoughts. "If you put heels on, you're gonna be taller than me." Not that he cared much, but he thought to point it out. His eyes flickered to Adrienne briefly, vaguely wondering if she was anything like her sisters. Telepaths, they made him shiver.

"It looks fantastic on you," Adrienne agreed, circling Dani with a well-trained eye. "And I don't think it clashes. Of course, if he goes in his birthday suit you may have an issue of being overdressed on your hands."

"If he goes in his birthday suit then there will be lots of other problems than me being over dressed," Dani replied wryly, but she headed back to the changing room to put her clothes back on. She'd wear this dress...with heels. And he'd like it. "Shopping like this ain't so bad," she called through the door.
