Just another morning at work, until the floor eats Amanda.

Arms full of musty old books, Amanda kicked the door of the storeroom/library shut with her foot and began carefully making her way back through the office to her desk. Considering the pile was obscuring her face and she couldn't see where she was going, it was something of a difficult task. She just hoped Doug didn't pop suddenly out of the server room.

Spotting the blonde picking her way precariously through the place, Morgan jogged up an isle to meet her. Without a word of warning the taller woman plucked the top of the stack up and into her own arms. "Hey there, love, you trying out your echo location or summat? Or do you just really wanna trip over someone and make loud noises when you do?" She grinned and fell into step beside her friend.

"More like bit off more than I could chew," Amanda replied gratefully. "I swear it didn't look like much when I was putting it together. Magical artefact research - a reminder that there's more occult crap out there than anyone will find a use for."

"I think if you're chewing on books then it's time you get dragged out of the stacks of books and out for a pint, sweetness." Morgan shook her head and patted Amanda on the head. "Of course it didn't look like so much before. It was probably stacked on the floor and you went, 'Hey, it's only as high as my hip, I can do that!' Weirdo."

"Just 'cause you're some Amazon woman doesn't mean you get to look down on me," Amanda replied, mock-tartly. Then she considered her words. "Well, you do, but that's not what I meant." She settled for poking out her tongue at her co-worker and drinking buddy and continued. "Still, if there's beer in it for me, I'm all yours. The books can go hang."

The comment about Morgan being an amazon had her stretching up on her tip toes so she could exaggerate looking down her nose at the blonde. She grinned a moment later and bumped Amanda's hip playfully. "Oh, mi amor," she used her best intentionally faux Spanish accent, "there is always beer in it for you if you'll be all mine."

Amanda wobbled slightly sideways at the contact, the books in her arms upsetting her center of balance somewhat, before she returned the gesture in kind. "Well, if you put it that---" she began, before her words abruptly cut off and the witch herself simply sank into the floor as if it wasn't there. Apparently the books were extra - as she vanished, they remained in a neat pile on the carpet.

Morgan stopped dead and stared. Books. It was just books left. She blinked and then looked around to see who else was about. "Uh....guys? The floor ate the Brit. The fuck?" She toed the stack of books but they seemed to be normal. What the fuck?

A tousled mountain of hair popped out from around a corner which was quickly followed by the rest of Wanda. "The floor ate - oh dear, not again," she said, patting her pockets for her phone. "Morgan, would you be so kind as to drag out your phone and give Amanda a ring?"

"Aye, sure, but again...what the fuck?" The metamorph balanced the pile of books she was still holding in one arm and reached with her other hand to her back pocket so she could fish out her mobile. Morgan gave Wanda a curious look. "Does the floor usually eat people and I just wasn't aware of this because I don't usually spend much time in it?"

From where she was crouching down to scoop up the fallen books, Wanda gave Morgan a quick grin. "The last I checked, our floors do not generally eat personnel. Cities, however, have a habit of eating Amanda. The last time this happened, she wound up in Madrid."

"Oh, brilliant." Morgan's voice was dry and she flipped open her mobile so she could press the speed dial number she had Amanda's moblie programmed into. "D'you think our teleporter is being sane enough, and by sane I mean not bitchy, to go retrieve her?" She listened to the other end of the line ring in her ear.

"Amanda should be able to get herself back, given enough time and enough food to recharge that bottomless pit of hers. Sending Illyana after her would only annoy both of them unless there's no other way around it." Wanda grimaced as she stood up, books in the crook of her arm. "And I would rather not come into my office tomorrow to discover my filing in disarray. Again."

"There has got to be midol strong enough to calm that chick down. Maybe we should start shooting her with mild doses of a tranquilizer. Only, you know, in dart form. So she can't lash out before it takes effect." Morgan tapped a foot as she waited for Amanda to pick up.

"Illyana has her quirks," came the agreement, but it was said fondly. "She's a good one to have at your back, though, even if it does not seem that way at first." She glanced around the office. "One of many, actually."

At last there was a click and Amanda's voice on the line. "Oops." There was a lot of ambient noise in the background, voices and animals and tinny pop music. "Sorry about that. I forgot to mention there's something odd going on with my powers again, didn't I?"

Morgan sighed. The thud from her forehead hitting the wall was likely audible even on the other end of the line. "Fucking hell, woman. Where are you? You're lucky Wanda was here to be all 'Yeah, she does that sometimes.'"

"Gimme a sec." There was a pause and then Amanda's voice returned. "Bangkok, apparently. Some kind of big outdoor market. Lucky for me there's plenty of tourists." A concilatory note entered her voice. "I'll bring you back lunch?"

"Nothing that's still squirming. Aye, but actual Thai food would be sort of amazing." Just then Morgan's stomach growled at her. "Hush you," she poked at it. "Aye, well, don't get into any trouble. Ring us if you need anything."

"No squirmy things - I'm not keen on the idea of winding up part squid or something," Amanda replied. "It should be an hour or two while I recharge. Um." There was another pause and then she continued, sounding awkward. "Sorry about all this. I figured it was just one of those random things?"

"Meh, it's all good. I'll leave your books on your desk, yeah?"

"Ta, mate. Catch you later." There was a click as Amanda hung up.

Morgan looked back over to Wanda and shrugged. "Well at least she's bringing lunch back from Bangkok."
