Wherein Dori and Victor watch some movies alone together and all Dori's attempts to get attention are completely ignored.

Dori made sure everything was arraigned perfectly in her room and that it was neat and that Monkey Joe was tucked away with quite a few candy bars in his bed. She had her lap top set up for movies and they'd have to be close - so close! - together to watch movies. She had a huge collection too, so he could pick and choose what he wanted.

Dori also wore ribbons in her hair, had brushed her tail and put on a good pair of jeans and one of her new shirts. She thought she looked cute.

She hoped she looked cute.

She waited for Vic.

The knock she was expecting came about five minutes late, and she opened the door to her suite to find a stack of DVDs with green arms and legs, as well as the tiptop points of a green spike at the top. Well, okay, it wasn't quite that bad...but almost. Victor definitely had his hands full.

"Hey," he greeted her, pinning the wobbly stack of movies down with his chin to keep them in place. "Sorry, I was trying to find all of my Hitchcock stuff." Vic was wearing his usual camo shorts with a shirt that had a picture of a T rex juggling bowling pins. While riding a unicycle. ...And wearing a top hat.

"Let me take some of those!" Doreen offered, blushing. Okay, he was dressed weird, but that was more than okay! She liked weird. She was weird. "I made popcorn too! My popcorn is the best! Julian even says so," she said happily and moved so he could get inside, "Great shirt!"

"Thanks," Vic said gratefully, handing her a few DVD cases and following her into her room. "The popcorn smells really good." He stood somewhat awkwardly in the doorway, not sure where to sit.

"I can get you my computer chair, but I figured we could sit on the bed and watch the laptop set up on the desk, if that's okay," Doreen said, stealing some pillows from Callie's bed so they'd have plenty. It gave her a chance to try to fight down her blush, "So, what should we watch first!?"

He shrugged. "I brought a couple of Hitchcock movies," which, okay, was the understatement of the century, but whatever. "Or we could watch one of your movies, if you want. What do you like?"

"I like a bit of everything," she said, turning to face him, color in her cheeks. Dori pushed some hair out of her face trying to figure out how to get him to notice her - or if it was working at all - she had no real experience at this, "We can watch whatever you like. Really!"

"Cool," he said, sitting on the bed and rifling through his DVDs. "Have you ever seen any Hitchcock?"

* * *

After saying that she had only ever watched Psycho, Vic had picked some Hitchcock movie she had never heard of. She spent the whole time trying to do something - anything - to catch his eye. Doreen had also kept moving in closer when she could, reached for popcorn at the same time and was always rebuffed or ignored. Though she was very, very close to him right now. Even if they weren't touching.

Doreen wondered what she was doing wrong. It never seemed that hard when she had watched girls back home do this. Of course, she had never had a boyfriend. No one would've willingly dated the rodent.

"Uh, good movie," she said, even though it was kind of a lie, as she tried to catch his eye. Doreen smiled.

He grinned back at her. "Wasn't it great? It's one of my favorites. Did you notice that it's all one shot?"

"Um... yeah... kind of? I don't really pay that much attention to cinematography," Dori admitted, "It was very..." weird, "interestingly done," she said, moving in a little closer. In truth, she had spent most of the movie thinking about kissing him. And then firmly reminding herself that wasn't very fair at all, because they hadn't met all that long ago.

He reached for the last of the popcorn just as she shifted closer, inadvertently moving out of the way. "Oh, here, did you want some?" he asked, snagging the bowl and offering it to her.

"Oh... uh... thanks," Dori said, reaching for and taking some popcorn, feeling horribly embarrassed, "Um... I'm glad you came by," she said, looking up at him, trying to flutter her eye lashes.

Which was a lot harder than it sounded. ...Was he even looking at her?

He tossed a kernel of popcorn into the air, tongue darting out to catch it, then smiled at her. "Yeah, I really love all of the imagery that Hitchcock uses, and the things he's implying about their relationship..." He trailed off, looking concerned. "Do you have something in your eye?"

Doreen paused and looked baffled for a moment before she colored, "No... nothing in my eye," she said, looking down at her hands, "But yeah... it was a really interesting movie."

"Glad you liked it," Vic said sincerely, nudging her playfully with one elbow. "So, now what? Should we watch another movie, or do something else?"

Doreen smiled. It wasn't the type of attention she wanted but it was still attention. She looked down at her hands. A bolder girl might have asked to be kissed. Doreen shrugged, "...Another movie... I guess."

She must be a masochist.

The object of her affection grinned at her choice. "Cool! Your turn to pick."

Doreen almost died of relief right there. At least relief of one kind, "Let's watch..." she had to think of a movie that didn't suck with kissing in it. Lots and lots of kissing. That she had, right here. "...um..."

"No action movies," Vic requested. "Please."

That cut off of most of her options right there, and then an idea hit her. Vic liked artsy stuff, and Mom had shoved some Shakespeare movies in with her bag on the way back out, maybe one of those that didn't end with everyone depressingly dead. After a moment of scurrying she held one up. Much Ado About Nothing. The back made it sound romantic. And if there was kissing maybe that would get the idea of kissing in his head and maybe he might kiss her!

"How's this?"

"Brilliant," he said happily. "You've got excellent taste in movies." He grinned at her. "And you make fantastic popcorn, too."

"Really?" Doreen said, walking over to the bed, "I told you it was the best," she silently prayed the movie did the trick, "I'm glad you're enjoying yourself," she said trying to get in closer and look cute.

"Good movies, good popcorn and good company," he proclaimed. "How could it go wrong?"

It was though. Not horribly, but nothing like she had expected. Maybe it was something with how she looked or what she was doing. She had no experience with this at all. "It's perfect," she said, smiling at him.
