After the trial but before the grill out

Noticing Julian trying to break into his father's liquor cabinet in Malibu, Catseye gives him a laking. Or, an oceaning to be precise.

The lock on the liquor cabinet in his father's den was more complicated then he remembered, but perhaps Julian was just out of practice. The swizzle straw had always worked in the past, but this time he'd gone through three of them and still wasn't in. But, in the end, it would be worth it.

Bounding down the stairs, Catseye came to an abrupt halt when she spotted Julian in front of the liquor cabinet. Tilting her head curiously, she stalked over to her friend and tapped him on the shoulder with a claw. "What is Julian doing? Not getting SmellyBadStuff out of the cabinet?"

Jumping, Julian stood up and turned around, "What? Oh, hey Catseye...um...what's up?"

Catseye frowned at the guilty tone in Julian's voice. "What is up is Catseye was going to go for a swim to look at fishies but now she wants to know what Julian is doing with the SmellyBadStuff cabinet," she said sternly, glaring pointedly at him.

Of course, Catseye, much like Dori, was a feral and could probably smell the liquor with the cabinet shut and tossed into the deepest part of the ocean. "I wasn't doing anything Catseye," he lied, palming the swizzle straw and heading to his father's desk.

"Catseye thinks Julian sounds like he is being a SneakyBadLiar, saying things that are not true," she accused, taking a step closer to Julian, almost menacingly. "Catseye thinks Julian was trying to get SmellyBadStuff. Why does Julian want SmellyBadStuff?" she asked, a note of wary concern in her voice.

'Smelly-Bad-Stuff?' surely she didn't mean his father's twenty-five year old lowland scotch. "I'm...it's nothing, Cats. Just...go away." His mood suddenly grew dark as he plopped into the leather couch beneath a medieval tapestry that was frayed at the edges.

Frowning some more, Catseye went to stand over Julian, arms crossed over her chest in the human display of 'i'm not happy with you right now' while her tail lashed in the typical cat display of the same. "Catseye is not going to go away until Julian tells Catseye why he wants her to. If it is something private then Catseye will go but if it is something where Julian needs help then Catseye is not going. Tell," she ordered sternly. "Or Catseye will have to Lake Julian."

Julian scoffed, "Catseye, we're not back in New York, there aren't any lakes here unless you mean the pool." He thought for a moment, "Or...the...uhhh..."

She continued to loom over him, eyebrow raised, silently urging Julian to tell her what was bothering him, tapping claws on one elbow. His incomplete sentence made her assume he knew what she was talking about. The 'lake' in the laking was irrelevant.

"Okay, yeah, you caught me," Julian sighed, looking away from the looming, purple-haired girl- there was no point in denying it. "I was trying to get a bottle of my dad's good scotch out of the liquor cabinet."

"Why?" she demanded, tail lashing out behind her.

"Because," he looked her in the eye, "I'd rather forget the outcome of the trial."

"Dori's trial? How come Julian is so upset about that? It is not Julian's fault." The catgirl relaxed her posture just slightly, taking half a step back.

"Because Dori is sad and I...I can't stand to see her sad," for a moment he wondered why he was being so honest with her. "I'm her friend from before Xavier's...she's never sad."

"It is sad that Dori is sad, yes," Catseye agreed, "but that is not a reason to be drinking SmellyBadStuff. How does Julian drinking SmellyBadStuff make Dori feel better?"

Julian ruffled slightly, looking away. She had a good point, "Sorry, guess I was being selfish."

"Yes," Catseye agreed, and hauled him up by his collar and his belt, using her taill to help hold him so she could heft him down to the dock and throw him in the ocean. "No more being selfish trying to drink SmellyBadStuff."

"Wait! What are you doing?!" Julian squirmed, astonished how strong Catseye was.

Gritting her teeth with effort, the catgirl hurried down to the dock. "Throwing Julian in the ocean," she explained levelly. "So he won't be selfish and drink SmellyBadStuff." Swinging her arms back, she let him fly when she'd reached the end of the dock.

"Whoaaaa...!" Julian flew through the air off the dock for a few moments before splashing down into the salty water of the Pacific. While he slowly made his way back to shore, hoping there weren't any sharks in the water, he had time to remark on just how much of a disaster this week had been.

Catseye jumped in the water with Julian as a sort of peace offering and dogpaddled in a small circle, watching the water. "Does Julian want to go snorkeling with Catseye? Catseye loves to look at the fishies! Catseye thinks Julian was very nice to let everyone come to his house to swim and look at fishies."

Spitting a bit of salt water out of his mouth, Julian smirked and shook his head, "Sure, Catseye." It would at least give him the chance to forget his troubles for a little while.
