Encountering the new student in the medlab, Monet gets frustrated with the language barrier and decides to take a shortcut. Unfortunately, Nori's not in the best frame of mind for telepathy.

Very belatedly moved to the right community.

Monet sighed theatrically. It was so tragically irresponsible for Jean to be ...somewhere she couldn't find when she needed to rearrange a telepathy practice session on account of going to Afghanistan. Didn't Jean know that there were people who needed her out here? Oh, and sick little new girls and oooh! "Hello!" Monet smiled brightly. "I'm Monet. You're the new kid, aren't you? How are you? I mean, aside from probably bored stupid and thinking that Jean is horrible for leaving you here all alone with Doctor Voight."

Noriko had been doing laps around the medlab - not running since the only time she'd tried that the horrible tall doctor had yelled at her, but the repressed energy of her motion suggested she might as well be running - now, coming out from the hallway she drew up to a sudden stop, blinking at the new girl who spoke so quickly. "Anou... Hello," she ventured carefully, having become somewhat wary of the students here. Still, she was smiling. "I name Kikuchi Noriko. Yoroshiku." It wasn't much of a bow that accompanied this, but in theory the head nod could be taken as such.

"Nice to meet you." Monet held out her hand to shake. "So, how much longer will you be in here? Two days? Three?"

Ugh, more handshaking. Her teachers at least had been right about how prevalent it was. Reluctantly, Nori let Monet have her hand, snatching it back as soon as she could. "I don't know," she said, when she'd recovered her personal space, making a guess at what the girl's question had been. She'd heard the numbers, anyway...

Growing up, Monet had learned to default to French whenever anyone had language troubles. She'd gotten it from her father. Somehow, though, she didn't think it was going to work this time and switched to telepathy, instead. ~Wow. It really sucks that they didn't tell you how long you were going to be down here for. You must be getting so bored. Oh, we can do French, if you'd rather?~

Noriko started at the mental touch, eyes going wide as she backed up even further away. The tentative smile was entirely gone. ~What the fuck? What the hell is that? Are you doing that? Get the fuck out of my head, you foreign bitch! How are you even doing that? Is that your mutation? Gods, that's even worse than this fucking zap I do. How can you stand it? When did you start doing it? Doesn't it make you crazy being in other people's heads? Is that why you're hair's like that, because you're insane?~ The thoughts went on and on, flipping from moment to moment. The intense burning anger of the first contact vanished within seconds as a tumble of other impulses and impressions overwhelmed and pushed it aside before being buried themselves in the ever changing maelstrom of Nori's mind.

It had taken almost a full five seconds for the initial tingly-prickly-pointy-hotandcold feeling of Noriko's mind to grow into a feeling something like shoving a fork into a power point. Muscles in Monet's arms and legs twitched spasmodically, as did her right eyebrow. ~You're crazy, have you ever heard of being polite and my hair is-owowowow!~ She let go. "OW! Do you mind? Electrocuting people with your brain is just so uncool." Her eye twitched some more and one hand spasmed. "You might want to work on making your brain friendlier, you know."

Noriko wasn't listening, hands pressed against her temples. "Iiiiitai yo. Koitsu nurikabe gaijin. Itainda!" She managed to open her eyes long enough to glare at Monet, although the light felt like it was stabbing into her brain.

Monet glared at her. "This is your fault, you know that, right? You didn't warn me that you were going to electrocute me with your brain." Her eye twitched some more. "Have you seen Jean?" She gestured, miming a clipboard, someone shaking a finger. "Tall, red, angry?"

The gestures definitely registered with Nori who, if anything, scowled even harder. "Tall. Red. Un. Daikirai. Soko de," she added, pointing down the hallway towards the lab proper. "Kanajou mo, omae mo, daikirai! Achike!"

Oooh, she knew Jean. "Ta." Deciding that 'is she busy right now?' was too complicated, Monet just nodded. "Thank you! Uh... Sayonara?"

Noriko blinked at that. The girl spoke Japanese? No, surely she couldn't really speak Japanese or there'd have been some reaction to the names she'd called her. This was probably the only word she knew. Stupid bitch. "Bai bai," she said, the tone of voice conveying a deep desire to no longer be in Monet's presence.

Monet waved cheerfully before hurrying off down the hall. "Bye! Nice to meet you!"
