Log: Lil and Victor
Sep. 10th, 2009 05:54 pmLil goes looking for Johnny and instead finds his roommate. Awkwardness ensues.
There was one last thing to do before Mist was packed away and shipped home. One last thing and for that, she needed a certain white-haired teen for.
"Open up, Johnny," Lil called through the door, adding a playful but loud knock to her demands. "I'm kidnapping you from whatever homework those bastard teachers gave you already and taking you for burgers."
The door opened after a moment, but Johnny wasn't on the other side. Instead, his green roommate looked up at her dubiously. "Johnny's not here right now," Victor said politely. "Can I give him a message?"
Blinking in surprise at the boy who was definitely not the one she was looking for, the giantess smiled down at Johnny's friend. "Heya, Vic," she greeted, sliding her hands back into the pockets of her denim shorts. "You know where he's gone or when he'll be back? I wanna take him for a ride."
"What kind of ride?" Vic asked curiously. He was tempted to tell Lil that he didn't know where Johnny was, or that Johnny wouldn't be back for hours, but he quashed the thought. She was moving to Canada, Johnny'd said. And it was stupid of him to get jealous in the first place.
Her brow furrowed slightly with his question. "On my motorcycle?" Lil responded, unsure what he was asking exactly. "I'm gonna have it shipped back to Toronto and I wanted to see if Johnny wanted to go out on one more ride then grab some food before I do."
"Oh." Yeah. No reason at all to be jealous of the tall, hot blonde woman with a motorcycle that Johnny was totally into. Way to go, Victor. Mentally, he facepalmed. "Um, I know he's around somewhere--the library, maybe? He was going to get some homework done. So I know he didn't leave or anything."
"Yeah, he was kind enough to help me wash her a coupla times so I figure he'd might like one last time out." Her smile was small but soft and her green eyes betrayed the slight confusion she was still feeling. This was... odd though Lil couldn't put a finger on why. "Thanks, though. I'll go give a look for him there. Oh and that was a pretty cool thing you did with Speedy for his birthday. I'm sure Johnny appreciated it a lot."
Vic blushed at the unexpected compliment. "Thanks," he said somewhat shyly. "We had a lot of fun. I know it meant a lot that you showed up--he totally wasn't expecting it." He frowned as something occurred to him. "Did you just call Mr. Beaubier 'Speedy'?"
The giantess laughed and gave a little nod of her head which sent her long ponytail bouncing over her shoulder. "I don't recommend it, but yeah. We go back some time but didn't get to be friends until we both moved here," Lil explained, not quite sure how much Victor knew of Jean-Paul's past and the rough couple of months that bound the speedster, Johnny and Lil into a makeshift family unit. "Point is, Johnny hasn't had a lotta luck with people doing nice things for him and I'm glad with me leaving, he's got someone else who's gonna look out for him."
Vic didn't launch into his 'people are crazy for not realizing how awesome Johnny is' spiel, but only barely. Instead, he nodded. "I'll keep an eye on him. Mr. Beaubier will, too, I'm sure. Johnny's a good guy."
"Good. I'd hate to hafta haul my ass down from Canada just to kick the both of yours if he ends up jumping the border and ending up on my couch," she said with another good-natured laugh.
That earned her a smile from the green teenager. "I promise I'll do my best to keep that from happening."
"Appreciate it," Lil returned with a wink. "Not that I wouldn't love a visit but I'd like to keep the surprises down to a minimum."
"If nothing else, I'll call first, so you know he's coming?" Vic joked.
"Sounds like a deal." The giantess leaned against the door jam, smiling much more brightly now that whatever awkwardness that had been there before was gone. "So, you liking the place alright?"
He nodded. "Yeah, it's cool. Different, in a lot of ways--most of them good--but cool. I think I've finally stopped getting lost, which is helpful."
"Took me forever to get this place figured out. Ain't gonna lie, I'm looking forward to only having a couple rooms and one housemate from now on, even if there are a few people here I'm gonna miss."
"I can understand that, I guess." Vic rubbed the back of his neck. "It is a bit weird living with all of these people all the time. I'm used to just sharing a house with my parents."
"Makes you feel any better, I moved out when I was sixteen to join a group like this. Was just me and my dad but it was the right choice." Of course now when she thought back on her time in Gamma Flight, it was full of phantom faces. "Wait until you go back to living with a small number; that's when things get really weird."
He shrugged, not quite sure how to respond. "I'll get used to the noise and the people eventually, I guess. At least it's not noisy outside or anything."
She straightened up and pulled her hands out of her pockets. "With all the people that use those woods for their 'gotta get away' time, I'm not sure I'd bet on finding quiet outside." One more smirk, the giantess jerked her head down the hall. "It's getting late. I'm gonna see if I can find your roommate anywhere but he shows up here before I do, tell him Lil's looking for him? Oh and do you want us to bring you back any burgers or anything?"
"I'll tell him." Vic thought about her final question for a second, then shook his head. "No, I'm fine, but thank you." Better to let Johnny enjoy his time with Lil before she left.
"Thanks. I'll see you around, Vic," Lil said, giving his shoulder a quick squeeze before heading off down the hall in search of Johnny.
