Nick introduces Catseye to the movies, and one in 3-D at that.

Nicholas Gleason was glad to be out of his room and away from the books. Studying had hit him hard over the past few weeks as no one had scene hide nor hair of him running around the woods or the mansion. And yet it seemed like he was out of the pan and into the fire as the same nervous energy that had driven him over the past few weeks was hitting him once again. He stood dumbfounded as the bright lights in front of him poured down. Swallowing hard, he tried to think about what had lead him to possibly believe that this was a good decision. But it was already too late now. With a deep swallow he turned to his side, looking at the only person that could make this experience bearable. "You ready for your first movie theater experience Cats?" That's right, the dreaded second date was upon them.

"Catseye is excited!" she answered, grinning. "But Catseye is a little bit worried that she will not understand what is going on because she cannot ask Nick while the movie is on because talking during the movie is bad!"

The boy answered with a smile. "I already thought of that." Reaching into the pocket of his jacket he pulled out a sheet of paper with a highlighting pen. "See, in the theater, I'll be able to read what you write with this." Still with a smile he pushed the paper out towards her. "So I'll still be able to answer your questions."

With a squeal of delight, Catseye hugged Nick emphatically. "Nick is supersmart and sosososo nice to think of something like that for Catseye!" She put the paper on her lap and practiced scrawling something in the air with the marker- doing most of her homework on the computer, her handwriting was not very good. "What movie are Catseye and Nick watching?" Now that she knew she could ask questions and wouldn't get in trouble, she had a lot of them and wanted to start asking as soon as possible.

"It's a movie called Toy Story. It's actually an older movie, but this time it's special." Holding up a pair of glasses in his hands he turned towards her. "Now it's in 3-D..." He paused for a second, thinking of the question before Catseye could ask it. "If you wear these special glasses, it's like you're inside the movie."

Catseye had opened her mouth to ask but Nick had anticipated her question before she did so. She cocked her head, impressed, though when she held the glasses her face twisted into a frown. "Inside the movie? How does Catseye get out?"

"Well it's special. The movie comes to you. It's like it's happening all around you, but you can't touch it or feel it." He smiled again, realizing how happy he was to be out at the theater with the one person he could always be himself around. "But if you get too scared, you can just take the glasses off and it's just like you're outside of the movie again."

"Oh! Okay." Catseye blew out breath of relief. "Catseye understands." She put the glasses on and turned to Nick, letting out a pleased little squeal. "Nick is red and blue! It is funny! Do all movies have special glasses where it happens all around you? Catseye and Nick and Yvette were not wearing glasses when they watched the Shakespeare movie. Catseye did not wear them when she watched the Lion movie that was Shakespeare too."

Nick couldn't help but laugh as he looked back at Catseye. "No not all of them are special like this one. I just thought that taking you our ofr your first movie should be special." He let his head hang down again, dropping his voice low as he continued. "Because you're really special too..."

Hugging Nick's side, Catseye nuzzled his neck with her cheek. "Catseye thinks Nick is special too," she said happily. "Nick took Catseye to a special movie and brought Catseye magic paper and markers so Catseye can ask questions and Nick reads to Catseye and plays with Catseye and always talks to Catseye and makes Catseye understand things about being a human but Nick lets Catseye have fun being a cat too."

Nick smiled and let his hand fall down into Catseye's. "And you know what, I wouldn't change you for the world." He looked at the girl next to him as long as he could until the lights faded out, signaling the start of the movie.

When the credits had finished rolling, Catseye grinned at Nick with her big glasses on and shuffled the pad of paper off her lap. She hadn't needed to ask a lot of questions as the story wasn't very hard to follow after all, but now she had some for Nick. "Did Nick have toys like those when he was a child?"

"Not too many. My dad was never a huge believer in toys, he always wanted me to read instead. Although my mom did sneak me a Slinky. That was the metal thing that was part of the stretchy dog's body." He paused for a second, shocked by two things. First, how much Cats vocabulary was fitting into his own, and second, how easily he could talk about his family to the girl.

"Catseye never had toys or books," she mused, pulling her glasses off by one cardboard arm. "Until she came to the mansion. Did Nick have a bank for money that looked like a pig?"

"I sure did. But mine wasn't pink like the one in the movie. It was actually red and white with a little badger painted on the side. That was the... the pet of the school my dad worked for." He flashed a smile. "He was so proud of that place, almost all of my clothes were red and white or had a huge W on them."

"Nick's dad was a professor? Catseye did not know that!" She picked up the pad of paper and marker as she realized that people were leaving the movie theatre. "Catseye didn't have a money bank either, or money, until she came to the mansion." The movie, and Nick, were making her realize just how much she'd missed out on. But it wasn't Nick's fault. She wasn't angry at Nick. Catseye didn't know if she could ever be angry at Nick. "How come the mansion does not have a pet or special colours?"

As Nick stood up, he squinted his eyes for a moment. "That's actually a really good question. Most school use them for sports teams, maybe it's because we don't play other schools in sports that much?" He shrugged before reaching down for her hand, slowly taking his place in the line of people filing out of the theater. "Maybe you could ask one of the professor's that's been here for a while?"

"Yesyes that is a good idea! Catseye will ask! Maybe the school can get a pet and play sports," she mused happily, swinging Nick's arm and her own as they waited in the queue to leave. "Maybe the pet should be a werewolf boy!"

The boy's laugh came out as a snort. "You know, I always thought a cat was much cuter than a wolf." His smile spread from ear to ear as he caught and tried to hold the catgirl's entire face in his eyes.
