Bobby and Catseye
Oct. 9th, 2009 07:52 pmThe returning X-Man gets reacquainted with the catgirl.
"Bobby? Mister Drake?" Catseye wasn't exactly sure what she should be calling him, and reminded herself to ask as she knocked on Bobby's door. "Catseye came to see if Mister Bobby Drake will make Pastrami Ice Cream?" she called out.
With a smile Bobby Drake pulled open his door. "It's still Bobby for you Catseye." He flashed a smile at her as he pushed down his sleeves, as they had been rolled up while he unpacked the few things he and Terry had left in storage at the mansion. "You ready to head down the the kitchen and see what we can whip up?"
"Yesyes! Catseye has been practicing! Catseye and Angel made chocolate covered bugs one time! With marshmallows!" She practically danced down the hall and toward the kitchen. "How is Terry? Catseye misses her."
"She's doing very well. Keeping busy with her new job, and in general trying to save the world." His smile faded a little, but Bobby knew that he had to fake it till he made it when it came to Terry and how much he missed her. "I know she misses all of you guys, almost as much as I did."
Catseye hugged him around the waist, sensing his melancholy over Terry's absense. "Saving the world is a good thing, Catseye thinks. Catseye wants to save the world too! Well," her face screwed up in a frown, "help save the world. Help make sure sneakybad people don't hurt people and that bad things do not hurt people like floods and snowstorms. Catseye is going to be a Field Leader for Red X and someday an X-Man!"
Bobby couldn't help but laugh at the girl's enthusiasm. "An X-Man huh? I've stopped a few floods and bad people during my time as one of those." Remembering the things that he had done in his tenure as an X-Man was one of the things that made the decision easier for him to come back. He knew that he was needed here. "But I'm sure I'll see you out there with me one day."
"And now Bobby is back to be an X-Man again and to teach when the other teachers need help? So Bobby is teaching everything? Even lit'rature?"
"Yup, I'm slowly starting to ease my way back onto the team. I think they said something about me being a trainee for a while or something." He flashed another quick smile. "I guess were not too different after all. But, yeah, I won't be teaching everything. I'll leave the books to Kurt."
"Does Bobby like books?" the catgirl asked, pulling a package of pastrami out of the fridge.
"I did, but I've spent the past few months looking at nothing but books out at the Keep." He paused as he pulled a bowl out of the cabinet and set it on the center of the kitchen island. "What about you Cats, what has changed since I left?" It was obvious by her word choice alone that she had matured since his last visit.
"Catseye went to live with her big brother, Evan, but now Catseye came back so Catseye can finish school like a normal human. Catseye is learning how to drive and being in plays and Catseye is being a couple with Nick- did Bobby meet Nick? He is a wolfboy he was playing with Catseye in the snow," she told the returning teacher.
His hands already freezing the inside of the bowl, Bobby tried to take in everything the girl was saying "Whoa, you're in a 'couple'?" The teacher raised a suspicious eyebrow at the girl. "Am I going to have to give this boy a talking to?"
"Catseye doesn't think so, because Forge and Jay and Kyle already talked to him," she giggled. "But Catseye isn't supposed to know that. And Catseye knows she can decide to not be a couple anytime and it is okay but Catseye thinks she likes being a couple so far. Is Bobby's skin cold?" she asked curiously.
"Nope." He said with a smile, admiring his work in the bowl. "But if that boy ever does do anything you don't like, there's one more name on the list." Setting the bowl back down he extended his hand towards Catseye. "Pastrami?"
