Sam and Yvette talk about the team and her new place in it.

"Did you end up with a proper team name or are the options still being debated?" Sam called down from the roof when he saw the spiky little student walk out from the main entrance. It took a moment of concentration for him when he jumped down. Fine control was hard when you were the equivalent of a jet but he managed just a short burst of thrust to make a landing. He never seemed to glide down but a couple of wobbly steps on impact was excellent considering.

Yvette had glanced wildly around, trying to track where the voice was coming from, before hearing Sam's powers ignite. She glanced up and smiled as he took off and landed, lifting her hand in a small wave. "Well," she said when he was down and she was sure he could hear her. "The voting seems to have decided to call me Knuckles. So that will be my name, yes?"

"Other people have had much worse training names. Knuckles was always my favorite when I was younger." Sam moved up alongside Yvette so he didn't interrupt her too badly, instead he simply walked alongside her. "The Team's a hard thing to be on. I hope you're ready; I know it's not entirely new to you with some of the things you've done, though."

"I do not mind it so much - I have many nicknames from my friends that are silly," Yvette replied with a brief smile. She looked up at her taller team-mate, voice turning serious. "I was thinking very much before I am asking Ms. Munroe if I could be the trainee. There is much to learn and I think I am ready to be doing that. Of course, it means I will be talking to everyone to find out as much as I can, yes?"

Sam nodded his agreement. "That wouldn't be a bad idea. All sorts of folks see things all sorts of ways. Talking to them would definitely help you be more prepared to work with them, if nothing else." He couldn't imagine Yvette getting caught up in too much team conflict but then again, he never thought anyone would.

"I have noticed that sometimes it is harder for people to be working together than others," Yvette said a little wryly. "Laurie and Mr. Logan, for example. They do not like each other so much, do they?"

"I don't think they do but that happens sometimes. There are always going to be people that don't like any given person. It's part of how different everyone is and that's a good thing, I think." Sam shrugged, quiet for a moment as he thought about it himself. "It wouldn't be a very good world if everyone was too similar."

"This is being true," Yvette admitted. "And the team is being more important than the individual likings and not-likings." She walked quietly for a moment, thinking. "I was reading the team reports," she said eventually. "Are you being all right now, Mr. Guthrie? It seemed very strange, that you would get so angry."

Yvette's question made Sam pause as they walked. He had accepted that he'd likely never be able to make anyone else understand what had happened but he found it very important to give people complete answers (particularly students) about important things so they could learn from the mistakes of others. "I reckon that it caught a lot of people off guard."

"I suppose it was the same when I was going after the man in Kosovo that time," Yvette acknowledged. "I hope you have been working it all out now, yes?"

"I got the answer I was looking for." Sam nodded and left just another moment of silence before switching topics. "Have you been pulled into any training sessions with your new status or ought I look into having someone make one up for you?"

"Not so much, yet. It has mostly been the reading," Yvette confessed, realising he didn't want to pursue things and happy to trust the X-Men leaders that put him back on active duty to know what they were about. "With the operation not so long ago, Dr. Voght is wanting to be sure I am not going to be hurting myself in the Danger Room, so I need the special program that is not so rough, yes?"

"Everyone starts slow and most people have to have their own programs to test their specific powers." Sam reassured her. While some people were hard on the newer trainees, he always felt it was necessary to help them learn how things always seemed to go pretty much the same for everyone. He thought that if everyone knew how many people had gone through the exact same thing, they wold know they could do it too.

"If you want to be making the program for me, I will do my best," Yvette replied, eyes lighting up at the thought of being able to do some kind of physical training. Dr. Voght had been rather specific on that. "I have also been learning the communications equipment, so I can still be helping when there is the trouble!"

Sam raised his eyebrows a little. "I haven't made many programs myself but I figure I can put one together for you with a little help from a few of the other minds around."

"Well, since Mr. Summers and Mr. Dayspring are not being here any longer, everyone will be learning the new things, yes?" she suggested with a hint of mischief. "It shall be the learning line for all of us!"

"I believe it will be." Sam nodded in agreement and laughed just a little at Yvette's tone. "I'll try to make sure I don't go overboard then."
