Kitty's upset; she and Illyana share a moment. Set around noon, Saturday the 21st.

Kitty had been sitting on her bed, staring at her open textbook for almost half an hour now without turning the page. She'd been trying to read, but everything seemed so much harder these days. She had an appointment with Dr. Samson tomorrow, but right now it just didn't help that much. With a sigh she leaned over, pressing her forehead to her crossed legs, trying to hide from her own thoughts.

Tentatively, Illyana pushed the door open, not expecting to find anyone in the room. She'd spent the majority of the morning playing half-heartedly with Artie, but -- tired and distracted -- had bowed out a few minutes before. Seeing Kitty, she hesitated, halfway between her bed and the door. Her better judgement and desire to be alone aside, she approached the older girl hesitantly. "Kitty?" she asked softly, reaching out halfway before pulling her hand back. "Are you okay?"

Kitty looked up, smiling tiredly as she recognized Illyana. "Hey," she said, her voice as soft as the younger girl's. "I'm... yeah, I'm ok." There wasn't much conviction in her voice though.

Illyana's brow furrowed into a frown. "Are you being sure? You look -- " she filtered through her limited vocabulary, trying to find the right word -- "sad?"

Kitty sat up. "I guess, I am a little sad, but it's ok sweetie." She wasn't sure how she could explain needing to be sad, or deserving to be sad to Illyana, and wasn't sure she'd have the energy to try.

"Oh." The confusion lifted slightly from 'Yana's face, and the younger girl seemed torn between something, eyes jumping from Kitty to her bed for a short moment. Then, with an air of decision, she hurried over to her bed and extracted something green from beneath her pillow. Returning to Kitty with a seven-year-old's quickness and gracelessness, she presented the object -- a green plush Kermit the Frog, threadbare on his tummy. "When I am being sad, he makes me feel better," she confided seriously. "You can -- what is the word -- borrow him, if you are wanting?"

Kitty couldn't help but smile at that. "Thank you," she said. But she opened her arms and said, instead of taking the frog, "How about a hug, instead?"

There wasn't even a decision between giving up her stuffed toy and getting a hug from her favourite roommate. Obligingly, Illyana climbed into the open arms and wrapped her own carefully around Kitty's neck -- avoiding clinging by only the barest margin.

Kitty closed her arms, holding 'Yana close, rocking them both slightly. "Thank you, sweetie," she whispered into Illyana's hair.

Illyana leaned against Kitty quietly. "It is being okay," she muttered into Kitty's hair, half to herself.

Kitty shifted slightly, pulling the little girl into her lap. "Yes," she said, "it will be. Are you all right?'

Illyana tensed very slightly, but smiled at Kitty after a moment. "I am okay," she said, nodding vigorously. "It is -- okay."

Kitty smiled, pushing a stray hair out of 'Yana's eyes. "Good. I'm glad." She hugged her tightly again for a moment, then relaxed her arms so the little girl could slip out of them if she wanted to.

The younger girl hugged Kitty back for a long moment, before unwrapping her chubby arms and looking up at her. "I hope you are feeling better soon," she said, with the unerring solemnity of a child.

"Me too," Kitty's voice echoed Illyana's seriousness. "And I think I will be."
