While munching on Cheese, Kurt asks Cammie what she happens to be doing for Christmas.

The cheese must’ve been a million years old. It was moldy, anyway. Which added a tang to it similar to what cheese used to taste like. But not the texture. The point was, it had flavor.

In the main kitchen she sat with her feet up on the table tearing off another piece off and popped it in her mouth. Hmmm, tangy. The glass that sat next to her was also toxic. But so very, very tasty.

"Cammie, that smells worse than my teleportation", Kurt told her, walking into the kitchen and staring at her cheese with a kind of vaguely horrified amusement. "But at least someone gets to enjoy it."

“Yeah, at least I can eat this,” she said happily, “Can’t say that about whatever comes with you when you go popping around,” she said lightly. “It’s amazing what gets pushed back and forgotten in the fridge.”

"Sulphurous gas, mostly", he said equally lightly, then nodded. "And these days, those things are kept for you when we notice them."

“I know. I makes me feel loved,” she said, taking a drink from her cup, “At least it means I have something with flavor.”

"We do try to be accommodating." He peered at her cup for a moment but decided he didn't want to know. "Cammie, what are you doing for Christmas?"

“Nothing,” Cammie said, “I’m not a big holiday person. And I don’t want to spend it in Vermont. Mom and Dad understand.”

"Amanda, Meggan and I will be going back to our people for the holiday", Kurt told her. "Somewhere quiet, away from the cities, to celebrate in our own way. You would be welcome to join us."

“Huh,” Cammie said, “Well, I guess it’d be different,” she said after a pause, “It’s not a religious thing or something, is it?”"

"Far from it", he promised. "I am the only Catholic in the family, so while I will be going to mass, the others will simply mark Yuletide."

“And where is this somewhere quiet?” Cammie asked. One thing she was mostly sure of, was if she stayed here someone would force some sort of Christmas experience on her. Kurt wouldn’t. At least, she was pretty sure.

"Bavaria, or thereabouts. I cannot be more precise than that - my people rarely stay in one place for longer than a week. Have you ever been to Germany?"

“It was a little out of my price range when I was traveling,” Cammie said, “Been to Canada and I think Mexico… hard to tell when the desert changes.”

"I think you will enjoy it. No desert at all, and a lot of forest." He smiled hopefully.

“Hmmm, a place where people won’t be throwing Jesus at me or forcing me to be festive,” Cammie mused, because Jane really would do that, “I think I could be talked into that.”

Kurt beamed. "Good! I will let Stefan and Mirela know to expect a guest."

“If they cheat at cards like you do, I’ll have a great time,” Cammie quipped.

"Who do you think taught me?"

“Oooh, this is going to be fun, isn’t it?” Cammie said, with a low whistle.

He laughed at that. "I certainly hope so."

“I’d say what could go wrong, but I’m not going to jinx this,” Cammie said. But only for Kurt. Anyone else and she likely wouldn’t give a flying fuck.
