Tabitha & Kurt, In the Gym, Catching Up
Dec. 14th, 2009 03:11 pmTabitha encounters Kurt in the gym and gets some ideas regarding the winter break.
Finding someone in the gym before her meant she couldn't cheat on her workout. The person in question was worth the loss of exercise, in Tabitha's humble opinion. "Kurt! My favorite person ever, fancy meeting you here." She draped herself over the nearest piece of equipment and smiled at her friend.
He gave her a slightly sideways look, but he was smiling. "Hello, Tabitha. Your favourite person ever?"
Tabs grinned. "Well, your competition is Manny and Cammie, don't let it go to your head. Pushing yourself too hard again?"
"Both have their good points", he said cheerfully, swinging up to sit on his trapeze where he'd been hanging upside down. "I would never push myself too hard."
"Haven't talked to you in ages. What's the scoop?" she asked lazily.
"Very little that is new", was the easy answer. "Except perhaps acquiring Cammie as my newest little sister."
She couldn't help but laugh, full and loud. "She needs it, you're a good influence on people and she needs someone who cares for her without confusing the crap out of her." Tabitha positioned herself properly on the weight machine and began working. "I like her, brash attitude and all."
"She is a good girl at heart, whatever she thinks", Kurt agreed, getting back to his own routine. "And has more than one person who cares for her -including her parents back, for a blessing."
"Enough about the new sibling, any girls in your life? Boys?" She knew she was being obtuse, but couldn't seem to shut herself up.
That got another askance look. "You must have been avoiding the journals quite actively not to know that. I have been seeing Monet for almost a year."
"I've been known to acheive hermit status on occasion, but I _do_ remember that, hearing it out loud." Tabitha blushed at herself and hoped he'd mistake it for a work-out flush. "Things are going well, I take it?"
"Very well", he said with a contented smile. "I know some might not have expected it, with Monet being... Monet, but I love her for just that."
Tabs shrugged. "We not be friends, but she's good people. Pulled my ass out of Vancouver last year." Her hand twitched toward the burn scar on her throat.
"That is very true", Kurt agreed, eyes flicking to follow her hand. "She does not let down her team, if she can help it."
"I am exceedingly happy for you. Now", she went on teasingly. "When's the wedding and can I be one of the Groomspeople?"
He pulled some random small object out of his pocket without looking at it, and threw it at her. "If, at some point in the unplanned future, there should be a wedding... of course you can."
"Yay!" Tabitha threw up her hands happily. "Okay, distant future taken care of, what are you doing for the winter break?"
"I will go back to my family for Christmas, of course", Kurt told her readily. "Amanda and Meggan too, and Cammie... and I think Amanda plans to bring Nico along. A meeting with Jimaine might be good for them both."
She bent down to pick up the linty breath mint from where it hit the floor after bouncing off of her leg. She studied it with barely contained snorts of laughter. "I'm thinking some place tropical. My frequent flier miles are adding up and WHY did you throw that at me?"
"The situation called for throwing and it was what came to hand", was the lofty but amused response. "Will you be going to this tropical place alone?"
She went back to her repetitions. "I'll probably invite a few people. I'm sure there's at least one more person wants to get away from the snow for a little while."
"Oh, no doubt", he agreed. "Especially those who came here from warmer places."
Tabitha was quiet a moment, thinking. "Y'know, now I kind of wonder if some of the students would like to go."
"It certainly could not hurt to ask. So many of them have no family to go home to..."
"I have some vague memory of Amara having a hissy over people without families last year, I'll have to ask her if she's interested in chaperoning," Tabitha grinned as she warmed up to the idea.
"That sounds like a very good idea", he said cheerfully. "Even if she planned to go back to Nova Roma, she can only say no."
"Lex sounded like he might be interested in helping the kids out more often, too. I must email them as soon as I finish my workout." Tabitha attacked the weight machine with a great deal more enthusiasm.
