Transit Lounge - Berlin - Sunday evening
Dec. 27th, 2009 09:31 pmKurt, Meggan and Amanda, with their guests Nico and Cammie, find themselves delayed as well. Backdated to Sunday.
Above the weird language, the freezing cold, the fact she was God knew where, and that she couldn't keep her mind from returning to the holidays she used to pass with her parents, Nico was ultimately bored; the weather had taken care of letting them all stuck on an airport until it calmed down, and they had been sitting there for a couple of good hours now, and the girl was seriously considering making a harmless weather manipulation spell, something small to calm the storm.
Or, she could change the season; temptations are powerful when you feel bored out of your mind.
Kurt stepped up behind her seat, a little concerned by the baleful look she was giving the window. "Nico? Before you do anything, consider what Amanda would say."
Nico tried to give him an honestly clueless look, but she wasn't too good at that. Yet. "Oh, come on, she might even be happy; I think she was about to duel to death one of those employees she was talking to."
Meggan glanced over curiously from where she was seated near a window, also a bit concerned with the situation. Winter might be one of her favorite seasons, but even she could get slightly sick of what amounted to a wall of white when it left them all stranded in an airport. She would be thrilled if they could get out of here faster, but she was slightly wary of it if it happened to involve magic. She bit her lip in thought for a moment, before saying, "If you're plotting what I think you're plotting, I somehow doubt that she'll be very happy."
“Well then, since no one’s going to take a magic flame thrower to the snow, maybe we can all just shut up about it,” Cammie said, happily sitting down. Or as happy as she could be busted up as she was. “But please, do something about the snow.”
Just then Amanda returned from the check in desk, looking a bit irritated. "Bad news," she announced. "All flights into New York are delayed. They're up to their arses in snow. So we're stuck here until they can manage to find a flight."
"Or unless we bribe Clarice with something very good indeed", Kurt said wryly. "Sometimes I wish my powers were not so limited."
Amanda nodded. "Ditto - no passengers for me." She glanced around. "And did I hear mention of magical snow blowers? 'Cause messing with weather systems would definitely be on the 'hell, no' list."
"Oh, I would totally use the magical flame thrower on you," muttered the goth as she looked at Cammie, although she was half-smiling. A pained look fell over Amanda. "Do you doubt about me, dearest mentor? I know that if I make summer here, it will be winter somewhere else and that...well it sounds pretty messed up." She had already used her teleportation spell as well. "I could probably make a portal though." The pained look returned as she glanced at Amanda again. "Not that I would, okay?"
"Good grasshopper," Amanda replied, patting Nico on the head at risk to life and limb. "No dumping winter on Australia without warning." She looked around the small group. "There's a chance we might be able to get a standby flight, but we'd have to hang around the airport to get it, if you're all game?"
“Why not? It would do them good to have some snow down under. And hey, it’s not like I have any other place to go,” Cammie said ignoring the look that Nico had given her.
"Cammie, I am going to book you an appointment with Storm to talk about the consequences of playing with the weather", Kurt threatened half-seriously. "It is very much not a good idea. Amanda, I am happy to stay."
Meggan nodded in agreement as she stretched. "Staying for a standby flight does sound like the best bet. I'm happy to stay, too." She only just managed to refrain from saying they couldn't possibly be stuck in this airport forever--that would only jinx them.
Five more minutes of waiting and Nico would have actually reacted like a crazed piranha and tried to bite off Amanda's hand, but she still had some patience in her, so the pat only received some grunts. Nico had always considered herself a humble person, but not being able to potentially do, well, anything was getting her nerves. "Anything in order to move a little at least," said as she stood up.
“Say what you will, but I bet Australia would love a white Christmas. It’s not like I’m asking for a desert in the South Pole,” she said, “But hey, we’ll wait. I’m not hobbling anywhere. So whatever.”
"Just what we'd need, a bunch of frozen koalas dropping out of trees and giving people concussion," Amanda replied with a snort. "All right, let's go find somewhere comfy to camp out. With any luck, it won't take more than a couple of hours."
