Cammie manages to get doughnuts out of Laurie, one for every oww that will result from the walk from couch to kitchen.

Walking around in crutches was a pain in the ass. But she managed. Cammie had stopped hobbling around though and spread across the couch in the recroom flipping channels on the TV. Boredom was one of those things that once it sank it, it was nearly impossible to shake off. She was finished with her book collection of prolific and bloody serial killers. And once you actually had to commit to watching it, there really wasn't anything interesting on TV despite there being 90bajillon channels.

"Fucking sucks."

"Language, unless you want to be the one to explain to one of the kids what that word means," Laurie replied, lowering the book she'd been reading on mutant biology. She'd borrowed it from the school library, and wanted to finish it before she had to go back to school on Monday. "What exactly sucks?"

"I have no problem explaining to kids what fuck and suck both mean, even when used together," Cammie said. Corrupter of children, thy name was Black. "Two things suck. The cast and the ouch. I think I'm allowed to voice my displeasure to both with my large collection of swear words," she said cheerfully.

Laurie snorted softly, thinking that Cammie would indeed have no problem whatsoever talking to the children about those subjects. The fact that the teachers would then have to deal with several traumatising incidents where they were asked for further information was almost hilarious.

She marked her page in the book with a small bookmark in the shape of a carrot and closed the book before settling it on her lap.

"Think of it as a good excuse to make people fetch and carry for you," Laurie noted, leaning back on her comfy, if somewhat overstuffed, chair.

"Fine, go fetch me things," Cammie snapped, "Because it hurts too much to fucking walk around." Yeah, she was short tempered, so sue her.

"What's in it for me?" Laurie asked mildly, ignoring Cammie's temper. While on any other occassion she would have been all for mothering someone sick, she'd promised herself she'd be slightly less 'overly helpful girl' this year.

A New Years resolution, if you will. That and finally becomming an X-man.

"It gets me to shut up," Cammie returned. "I'm told that's a good thing."

"I hear politeness and decorum are the next big thing, all the cool kids are doing it. Could be people would even stick around to hear what you have to say. Of course, that could just be crazy talk," Laurie noted, placing her book on a side table and clicking the foot rest she'd been using back into place. "What exactly was it you wanted me to fetch for you?"

“You see, I’m so cool I don’t have to do what all the other cool kids are doing,” Cammie said with a grin and then considered what she wanted. That really was the million dollar question at the moment, “Motor oil. I really, really want motor oil. And doughnuts. God Damnit, Kyle,” the last was muttered under her breath.

"Motor oil filled doughnuts?" Laurie asked, wondering if she could make that work. She supposed she could get some motor oil from the garage, but using them in doughnuts might be a little difficult. Although, if she simply made something like a jelly doughnut, only using motor oil as the filling it might work. "You'd have to come down to the kitchen with me though, I'll need to have you taste test things to make sure I'm getting the flavours right."

“Fine,” she said, fumbling for her crutches, “But each ow must be repaid with doughnut."

"I think that's a fair deal," Laurie said with a grin. "Come on, hop-a-long, let's go get you some food."
