Jay spends time with Warren and confesses concerns he has about Jean-Paul. Warren tries to be objective.

Easier to be in Warren's apartment than in the mansion, Jay figured, although he couldnt say whether there were less distractions or more. His room was a mess, unkept and music sheets all over although he'd been trying to go back to the basics of what his mama liked due to the fact that Warren was around a little more. Cleaning became a chore he hated, but was starting to do it more and more which became a procrastination in itself.

As he sat there on the couch, occasionally his eyes would stray from his homework, watching Warren walk by, on his cellphone, talking. It was difficult not to take in the simple appreciations in life, especially since those appreciations had long legs, broad shoulders and.. Focus Guthrie.

He sighed, pulling his eyes away and set down into his text book. But then, if his thoughts weren't on one man, they were usually on another.

Warren had concluded that it was quite nice to have Jay over just because, the both of them just sharing the space as they worked on seperate things. Distracting, considering Warren's mind would occasionally stray into the territory of 'what they could be doing instead'. He hung up from the phonecall (finally), wandering back over to the couch where Jay was.

"It's not interruption time yet, is it?" He asked with a grin, looking down at Jay.

"Ah'm havin' a meltdown with chapter fifteen, so maybe?" Jay smiled and leaned over, setting the book on the coffee table. "Actually, somethin's buggin' the hell outta me and it's gotta do with Jean-Paul Beaubier," he said, liking the way the name bounced off his tongue with spunk, completely opposite of the person he saw recently. "You seen him War?"

"Funny you should ask," Warren said with a bit of a frown, moving around the furniture so he could actually sit down. "He nearly flew into me the other day. He didn't seem to recognise me."

"Well Ah saw him at the mansion. He said he wasn't the right person to show me how to cook cause there was somethin's he couldn't remember. Or somethin' like that." Jay was quiet for a moment, leaning back into the couch and found it bare, where his wings would have normally hung over. Also, instead of feeling the press of the metal in his skin when he leaned into it, his shoulder blades just met air and it was a very weird feeling.

The slight frown didn't leave Warren's face - he didn't like the other man all that much, but he did know Jay did. So he would do his best to be supportive, rather than rude.

"Maybe something's happened to him since he left the mansion," Warren said, a little awkwardly. He'd skimmed over some X-Men report that mentioned something with Jean-Paul, but he hadn't paid close attention to what it was.

"Ah dunno War. Somethin's wrong there," he said, putting his worries out there. "He was here back in August and when he left, he left pretty damn quickly."

"Doesn't mean Ah don't wana help, yanno? We use to go out flyin' alot," he said, rubbing the side of his mouth. "Maybe Ah should fly out more, see if Ah can get 'em to just be comfortable round me again or something. Ah dunno. Maybe Ah'm just talking outta mah ass."

There was a momentarily flash of jealousy from Warren - but they went flying together - but he quickly pushed it down, settling back onto the couch and keeping his gaze on Jay.

"Maybe," he conceded, doing his best to be objective. "Just letting someone know you're there, even if they never take you up on it, can be more help than you'd think."

"Well, that's maybe why Ah should go flyin' and just be around, even if he don't fly with me," he reasoned, oblivious to the jealousy. "Ah just don't think leavin' him alone completely is a good thing. Or maybe someone else is gonna watch over him."

"You do what you think is best," Warren said, not sure what else to say. He didn't know Jean-Paul well enough to say what would help, and only the vaguest inclination towards being involved.

"Yeah, that's the problem," he said, looking down at his hands. "Ah dunno what's best right now. Jean-Paul was mah idol when Ah was a kid, now he's a friend, sorta."

"Well." Warren was starting to flounder a little bit, and all attempts to finish the conversation were not going well. "Just be around. In the air, at the mansion or wherever he's living now - even if he doesn't want to talk about it now, or whatever the problem is, if he knows you're there or if you happen to be there when he does need to talk, then you're there. There's nothing more you can do if he doesn't want to talk and you don't know what's wrong."

"Hate just hangin' around, waitin' fer someone to come around," Jay mumbled and leaned back into the couch. He knew he was being a little irrational and probably would take Warren's advice. He drummed his fingers on his thigh and studied Warren's face. "Well Ah reckon Ah better save some flyin' time fer you too then huh?"

"Just keep at it," Warren said with a little bit of a smirk. "That worked with me and you, didn't it?" He tried not to grin at the mention of flying time, instead attempting nonchalance. "Oh, that would be nice. If you think you can fit me in."

"If ya make it worth mah while, then Ah'm sure Ah could slot ya in somewhere," he said, tossing Warren a wink.

Warren smirked back at that, sliding over so he could tug Jay in close to him. "Oh, I think I can make it worth your while." He closed the final bit of distance between them, his lips pressing against Jay's as he indulged the desire he'd had to kiss Jay for the past while. No more talk of work or study or Jean-Paul Beaubier.
