Lex visits Jay in Silver and the two of them walk away with the notion of becoming roommates.

It was still early, the later crowds wouldn't come until nine. Jay stood behind the bar, drying glasses when Jen came out from the back and set a whole fresh lot down on the counter beside him.

"Tip?" Jen asked, leaning into him and holding out her hand in front of him.

"Like hell," Jay smirked and set the glass down, picking up another. Jen was doing all the lugging today, pissed off at Larry for smooth talking another girl the previous night. Jealousy had a nasty way of rearing its head between the two, but Jay found it worked out for him because she was more than willing to soak up the heavier work, claiming she needed to do it to get through the night with Larry.

A familiar face came into view as he turned back to the TV on the nearby wall and raised his brows. "Hey Sailor," Jay greeted and his glass down, picking up another. "Heard about your run in the DR. You sure you should be on yer feet today?" he asked.

"It's Soldier, I've never served on a boat," Lex replied with a chuckle, "and the doc said I'd be fine as long as I didn't do any strenuous activity." Walking forward, he saddled up to a barstool and took a seat. He need a stiff drink to get his head out of the clouds.

"Right, no strenuous activity. This don't mean Ah'll be hauling yer ass up off the floor by the end of the night, does it?" Jay asked as he set the cup down in front of Lex, pouring him some scotch.

It was good to be known by your bartender. "No, I'm perfectly capable of drinking and walking home." He sniffed the scotch and then took a small sniff. "Good stuff." He wasn't planning on getting wasted, he still needed to write a post-training assessment, something Cyclops had gotten him into the habit of, even if he'd only served with him for a short time.

He smiled, pleased that Lex liked it and resumed drying off the glasses. "So how long you out for?" he asked. "Cause it seems to me we get our asses handed to us a whole lot."

"We do get completely wrecked," Lex shivered as he spoke, "I think I'm gonna need another one, maybe two or three." He shook his head before actually answering the question. "I think I'm going to stay out for a day or so, but I need to get back to work so I can fix this shit. Want to help?"

"Count me in if they let me. Ah could always be yer movin' target." He didn't really think lex would be able to hit him, but he smiled to show he was joking. "Last time ya nailed me, it was like hookin' mahself up to a supercharger. Ya burned off mah eyebrows yanno that?"

"It's good that you've got a healing factor then. I'd just look like a creepy bastard if I lost my eyebrows." Shifting comfortably in his chair he swung back and forth slightly. "Why wouldn't they let you help, you're a fellow trainee? You need practice too."

"Cause Ah gotta set o' wings that'll skewer ya," he said, setting the glass aside to pick up another. Jay paused with the glass and set it down, reaching under the counter where he produced a beer and popped off the top, handing it over to the regular that approached. He nodded as the money was put down on the counter and Jay's hand swept it away before he resumed cleaning the glass. "You ain't gotta healin' factor Lex. We already found that out the hard way."

"Well, that we did." He couldn't help chuckling at the several beatings he'd taken in the past four months. "Still, without risk it wouldn't be a good training exercise. Plus, you are one of the few people I actually trust at the mansion." He paused to let that sink in. Besides Vanessa and Tabitha Lex didn't think he could say he truly trusted a single individual at his new home. Hell, he didn't even trust the Professor fully.

"You got problems," Jay pointed. "But Ah dunno if we can go past any of the trainin' Ah'm doing. Ah just finally past the first level and Ah could screw that up with you in there." ALthough it made sense to have another person in there, someone he was more conscious of trying not to hurt.

"Well, it's up to you in the end. I'll recommend it if it'll help both of us, plus it'd be nice to have the company. My suite's gotten rather lonely, and V-Morgan's busy a lot." He didn't know if she would like him using her real name so he didn't. He took his second drink and set it down on the counter with a thud.

"Oh are you talkin' about roomin' together?" Jay asked. "Cause that's the sort of 'enter at your own risk' type of deal. You go in mah suite, you're never gonna return."

"I could be. I didn't know you had a suite to yourself." Lex said, he hadn't thought about living with someone else. It had been more to fill time than anything, but he didn't see too many problems with living with his teammate. It was at least worth exploring. "What do you mean I'm never going to return, out of curiosity?"

"Ah ain't exactly the most clean roommate ya could ever get. Like to have mah shit where Ah can see it. It's tidy, just.. bit of a mess. Like Ah know where everything is."

"That would be interesting. Not bad, just interesting." Looking at the other man he took another drink. "If you want a roommate I could probably adjust. Beats the hell out of having no one around to talk to after dealing with training or teaching the kids."

Jay smirked. "Well Ah gues its just a matter of room assessment huh? Who's ever got more shit don't have to move." He liked this idea. "Oh but Ah better say, yanno, Warren comes in mah suit a lot and stays over, so does Catseye. Is that gonna be a problem?"

Assuming the relation with Catseye was platonic, as it probably would have caused a great deal of fuss for Nick any other way, Lex thought about Warren. He didn't have a problem with people's personal choices so long as they were courteous. "If you don't make enough noise to wake me, then we'll be fine. I've got no problem with whoever you chose to enjoy, just as long as you don't make a point of flaunting it in front of me." He thought about it for a moment, "Hell, if the kitchen's clean enough to use--which is imperative--then I'd be fine with making the two of you breakfast sometime."

For some reason, Lex making breakfast in the morning struck him as a very hot package deal. Warren for bed, Lex for breakfast and he smirked as he set down a shotglass and mixed up flavourful drink. "On me --" he said and tossed the rag over his shoulder. "War n' Ah ain't loud, though Ah reckon if you do hear us n' get interested, yanno the door's unlocked." He winked.

"I'm sure I'll have my hands busy with my beautiful blue temptress," he said, laughing at the irony of his statement. "Thanks, and just let me know when I can move in." He took the shot and smiled, it wasn't bad at all.

"Move in whenever ya want. Just not in the morn cause that's a shitty time for me. " He shook his head, nodding to another customer and filling their request before he turned back to Lex and drying the glasses even though they seemed dry now. "Temptress? Lex, ya say the darnest things and Ah'm flattered, but Ah don't do the bendin' over."

"I'll move in this week, then. And I'm glad you don't bend over. It makes things much less complicated for us." He laughed and put down enough money to cover his tab. "Let me know if you're up for some advanced training in the DR."

"Godamn, for a second there, Ah thought you meant trainin' in the bedroom," he joked and picked up the money, counting it out. "Lex?" he held it up, frowning. "No tip? That's cheap."

"My blue friend, you'll thank me when I use that money to make food for you and yours. Trust me." Lex joked, standing and tilting his head respectfully. "Unless you'd rather have fiscal compensation."

"Nope, Ah'm a true born southerner Lex. My heart's where mah stomach is."
